SMOOOTH hand launch. 4s is the ticket. Good looking plane.
Great airflow is always a must for the ESC.
I just opened up several vents in the faux motor cowling on the FW that the factory didn't do.
Needing more throttle lugging around a GoPro and nose weight for proper CG, more air flow....more better.
Thank you for posting another fantastic and informative vid.
Cheers for Maryland
You're welcome, and PS - this plane was screaming you name off camera ;) LOL (It had a special Chinese inscription....when not in flight, please store in a boat - I thought it was kinda weird - LOL LOL LOL)
Nice little plane!!
I really liked it!
Look at all that lush, green vegetation! And corn too? Gotta be Iowa. Sure is better than the harsh, boring desert here in Nevada.
A friend of mine owns two L-39 jets, ah, the real ones. One to fly, the other for parts. We went to high school together, we both came from aviation minded families where everyone flies r/c planes before becoming a teen and is a licensed pilot before turning 18yo. He joined the Navy after college, I went to the Marine Corps. During Desert Storm he flew the F-14 off a carrier. I tried and tried to keep up, but Harrier's just don't move anywhere near the speed of a Tomcat. Neither one of us knew the other was over there until we met up one day by chance at our local hobby shop years later as civilians. It was then I learned about his collection of aircraft that included an L-19 Bird Dog, a Cessna 195, AT-6 Texan, (2) DC-3's and his L-39's, plus more I've forgotten. 19 aircraft in total. With the exception of an L-39 and a DC-3, all were airworthy too. I asked him what he thought about his jet and he looked at me a little sad and said, "Well, for what I paid for it, it's ok I suppose, but it won't break the sound barrier." I had to laugh! "You poor thing, welcome to my world!" Those Navy pilots are some of the finest, incredibly talented, well trained and very spoiled pilots I ever met! I personally thank God they and every military pilot, their crews and servicemembers of all branches exist!
These little 50s look like a blast to fly. I've always been tempted to get one.
get one. soooo fun🎉
Fly a Viper 50mm as my go to warm up edf... 100% best value for the money.. 87mph top speed with a very agile flight envelope.
Low aileron rates with high elevator rates.. 2200mAh batter all the way back and shes golden with Runcam2 😊
In no particular order, they are ALL GOOD!!!

...and don't forget, you'll want 4S, and YES, you CAN make 2200mAh packs work, but they're a BIT heavy for some (check out our BAE Hawk flying around with our 4S 2200mAh poking out with no nose on the front half of the plane...not a purposeful mod - LOL)

Hi.... I remember of you nice house with snow many years ago then mini plane Rc you had shown.
yes? We fly in all condition ;)
Thanks great review! Cheap today on aliexpress because of Black Friday. I will defo fit a rudder to get it to land exactly where I want and also paint the canopy frame lines.
Let's thank this good man for giving us a very informative and entertaining channel. Thank you for all your effort
Thanks so much!!! Glad you're here with us, and appreciate the kind words!
@@BrianPhillipsRC 👍👌 one question, are you planning to test the FMS super scorpion in the near future?
Been resisting temptation to get an EDF… this one is making it harder.
Sooooo sorry to twist the knife a little bit more..........see below ;) (Forgive me)

These planes are ok. Have a few arrows 50mm. T33 and bae. Not impressed. If you’re getting first edf try a 64mm-70mm. The better ones in my opinion are
Freewing Vulcan 70mm (great gear/flaps)
Fms viper 70mm anniversary edition (great gear/flap
Eflite habu ss 70mm (no flap easy flyer and fast!!)
Brian! We have to give you your shot. You sir are going to TOP GUN...brilliant aircraft brilliant flying....
Thanks! I'm just a regular "joe" who loves this hobby and wants you to be loving it too!!!
Great video. That jet looks amazing in the air.
It does, because is IS!!! Still would love to see a rudder, and possibly an led on each drop tank - I love seeing a nice pair ;)
I fly my Habu 50mm on 4S. It's such a blast!
1300 & 1500 mAh packs
WHAT?!?!! - Okay, Habu 50mm - get ready to burn!!! Oh yeah!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I limit my throttle to around 80% for the first 60 sec then let it rip. the esc may pulse letting you know she is workin! LOL
I run a Spektrum 4S 2200 30C in my 50mm T-33. It RIIIIIIIIIPS! 😂 Great videos man, nice flying Brian. And Camera Crew, what can I say, like always you’re killin it. I’m going to add Rudder to any of these 50mm Arrows jets using the 50mm Habu servo and linkage
Sweet! I bet the Rudder will make knife edges so much cleaner, and slow approaches less scary. It's crazy how much slower you can fly when you've got a rudder.
Good luck, and enjoy!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I’m so used to rudder that when I don’t have it it really messes with my head lol
That is a good price Love the sound just like a jet
It does sound nice too!!!
Nice plane and video. An EDF is on my list of planes to purchase next.
It's very good! Hope you get one!

Viper 50mm is nothing short of awesome fun.. along with BAE-Hawk
Great information buddy.. great video.. i also glue skids on the frame so i can do touch and go's as well as land on pavement without ruining the airframe
Good info!
Which skids or material do you prefer?
@BDTennessee i dont have a 3d printer, so i bought extra aileron servo protectors from arrows when i ordered my viper 50mm. I hot glued them to the airframe by the air induction holes on the bottom if you look at my runcam2 viper videos you can see me skidding without any damage underneath 😉
Awesome!!! Love this plane, and it's very good.
Awesome especially for the price, I just can't believe they left the rudder out in this plane, I'd much rather pay a few more bucks to have a rudder, I think most people would agree!!! Nice flying Brian 🔥👍🏻✌🏻
It's not super uncommon in this type of plane, but it's easy enough to add if it's a sticking point for you. Trouble you MAY find is that sometimes rudders just tend to ROLL the plane anyway, and I can't recall from my last L-39 if that's what happened. I lost that plane from a radio issue, and it was a beauty too.
Love your videos Brian ... of the 3 Arrows 50mm EDFs ... BAE Hawk, T33 and this one .. which flies the best in terms of stability, agility, slow speed, hand launching, etc
T33 - bprc.me/Arrows_T33
but that doesn't mean the others are bad at all...but I think the T33 might meet your specs best.

I have the T-33 and fly it only on a 2200 4s. It's a dog on 3s especially with any wind. Also, I did not have good luck with the stock gyro: there were a few times it over corrected on stabilize mode. So. I tend to stick to calm days and it's pretty enjoyable.
I agree, the 4S is a HUGE improvement. If you ever get a chance to try out the RC Hacker packs, they're 1500mAh and GREAT size for these birds, and the batteries are a great value, since they ship 2X at a time!
Also, I have ABUSED mine and they are like BRAND NEW STILL!!!
bprc.me/4S_1500_RCHackers
Good video Brian! Rippin that little bird :)
Looked to still be fairly nose heavy. Thinking about picking one up so may go light 1300...
Thanks, and as for the kinda nose heavy...Yeeeah, on 1500mAh 4S 100C it WAS a tiny bit nose heavy.... BUT ...on 3S 1300mAh 30C, it was just fine...as designed, but I guarantee if you get this bird, she'll never see the weight of a 3S 1300mAh pack ;)

@@BrianPhillipsRC agreed. Did some testing on Bae Hawk version and noticed same results!
Awsome plane!
It sure is!
Your love for the hobby is so contagious but now the wife wants an explanation on how some guy's UA-cam channel made me buy an rc plane. If i make her my camera girl im sure she'll approve
Very nice! Get working on that ;)
Hope you do some more of those long ARF builds. They are awesome and the planes look so great
We will. It's just a bit of a nuance for us, since we are so busy with the production on our plate right now. In fact, we have a PNP, that's pretty much an ARF waiting in queue. It's a Bi Plane, and will be very good, but haven't been able to fit it in just quite yet.
Please make it fit 😁❤@@BrianPhillipsRC
Why do i so desperately want to see this plane on floats?!? 👍
LOL - I think you'd have to have a SINGLE float, with outriggers on the tips of the wings????
I have the 50mm habu with a 40amp esc running 1500 4s.... Hot damn. It is an absolute BEAST.
Okay, now I will try it!
@@BrianPhillipsRC you won't regert it! Make sure you have a maximum rate setting, because it will spin like you've never seen haha!
Your a wild man..👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks ;)
That’s freaking fast… 😁
It is!!!
Just bought one of these and took it for its first flight today, love it! Flys great, BUT… I’m straight and level flight it wiggles left and right like as if the rudder was flicking left and right, did you see any of this at all in yours?
I don't recall noticing this... wonder if your rudder is TWISTED a bit??? Check for squareness of the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilizers.
❤
thanks!
Would you recommend this over the t33?
I have a t33 and fly it 4s and 3 s depending on the wind. Its flight envelop is excellent. Glides forever. Great video again.
Not necessarily. The L-39 is just a bit more of a favorite of mine, in terms of the plane it's modeled after...I just like the L-39 a bit more, but it's not due to being a lot better RC model, or the T33 is a worse rc model.
In re-reading my comment, to proof it, this comment is kinda hard to properly articulate, but hope you got my message..
The correct answer, GET BOTH (...or all of them)!!!

Keep it fun Brian !!...U r charismatic & possess g8 sence of humour... Flaunt that side.
Even if it crashes. A 200$ crash isn't a big deal for hobbyists... Yep being serious on a 700$ plane is fair !
100% - for sure!
...but some folks are tight on cash, and for them, this hobby is going to lead to a lot of over-time ;)
Sounds like my L-39 80mm on 8s😊
That would be VERY NICE ;)
Carbon Z L-39??? YEEEES PLEASE!
Hey Brain, another great video as always...what would you recommend the L-39 or the Habu 50mm? Thanks
Thanks for the new content this A.M Brian. Just wondering Hawks or Cyclones fan?? Or niether.
LOL - Hawks all the way!!!! But don't let that get in the way of this amazing plane ;) It is VERY good!
Brian, you do such a good job describing these airplanes. Its a no wonder why your so popular.
Thank you! I have been accused, many times, of talking too much...and it's true, but I LOVE these little things, and hope it shows! Thanks for the kind words, and being here with us!
i can like this one before ai see the video. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
It's very likable ;)
does it have a 40 amp esc?
We show it in the Unbox, Build Radio Setup. It's SUPER SMALL!!! Like the size of your pinky finger, and it's definitely going to hate me for 4S, while I LAP UP THE DELICIOUSNESS!!!
Please be warned that this plane is DESIGNED for 3S, and so are all the 50mm EDF jets from Arrows (to my knowledge), but please also ask me how many I've caught on fire...LOL ;)
You may be the worst battery abuser on UA-cam. Keep up the good work! I did a maiden in my balsa Drifter II powered glider this weekend without noticing my servos were reversed. Soybeans also save planes 😅
Lucky save!!! I've been saved by corn AND beans ;)
🙋♂️😄🇨🇭👍
Hi there!
Only #2... 🤣🤣😁😎
Awesome!
What's that battery?
We used bprc.me/3S_1300 on our maiden flight but upgraded to bprc.me/4S_1500_RCHackers on subsequent flights which was waaaay better.
How about the cg ... can you Mark a point ?
You can check out how we measured the CG here... ua-cam.com/video/XucymrRcUhI/v-deo.htmlsi=EsnNwjXhi1OeHZAT&t=4682
The US did fly L-39s but they don't have the american flag I think thats why you don't get the USA flag
Yeah, but even still, I love this plane!
me too it looks nicer then I think@@BrianPhillipsRC
***Albatross
Don't know why it's only ONE "S" but that's the way the MFG spells it - look it up. We also thought it was weird.
Hobbyzone isn't the same without being in the USA anymore. Seems like Dan sold the company and terrible customer service with Asians manning the calls only at night because it's in Hong Kong. Forget about it
I think it's fair to be disappointed that we've lost access Dan, and the amazing part he played in the RC hobby (as it pertains to Hobbyzone.com), but you have to understand, these deals don't happen in a vacuum...THEY willingly sold their business. What do you want to do about? Why didn't YOU buy it?!? We need to stop bitching when the Chinese companies buy American assets if Americans are unwilling to buy them. We too could have bid on these business deals, and I grantee they would have loved to sell to an American, if they were serious buyers. Please don't punish us for being subject to this unexpected change, just like you. Nobody asked our permission, not that they should have, and to be honest, Dan and his family did a GREAT job of making a company that was worthy of sale. We shouldn't punish HIM and his legacy, just because the "new guy" isn't him. Give them a chance, and you'll soon see, that Dan was also a benefactor of some good product, but HE did play an integral role in bringing it to us in a very Merican way. This will be missed, but hopefully, the new owners will listen to people like us, who are working HARD to keep them in check, and help restore some of the confidence you once had. This is a fine line we walk when working with partners like this. The companies are not always ready for the very challenging environment, that is the RC hobby.
Hope this makes sense, and hope you hear it in the right way. We don't me you, Dan, or the new owners any disrespect, but most don't really understand what's going on, and we were NOT in the loop for much of this transition. We did not vote, and had 0% say in what happened.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hi Brian I respect your reply and I know that you're in business to make money however I get turned off dealing with Chinese. It's not racist I just don't like communicating with them. I needed a simple part for an arrows f86 and of course nobody to speak to during the day. They call me back at night and it's impossible to discuss a simple part. I also can't stand the fact that the Chinese are taking over everything. I blame the American consumer who's not willing to pay extra for the same products made domestically. China is our enemy and we keep letting them buy American assets and American businesses and land. They're going to eat our lunch. I choose not to do business with them.
@@BrianPhillipsRCWell said Brian. 👋😎
