I had to replace the rubber boots that mate the carbs to the head. That, and cleaning/lubing the timing advance mechanism did the trick. That was after I rebuilt the carbs, the petcock, and replaced the fuel lines and air filters. Now it runs smooth as silk, has the power I know a KZ1100 is capable of, and does a helava lot better on fuel mileage.
I replaced all of the carb boots and float needles/seats. After doing a carb sync and idle mixture adjustment the thing ran like an absolute top for the rest of the time I owned it
Yep, I rebuilt the carbs, new float valve needles did the trick!
Check the o ring seal on the pit cock under the tank or fuel vacuum hoses. Sounds like you're flooding a plug.
It was bad float needles. Replaced with brand new and all was well

air cooled bikes shouldnt be idled a lot. they need that wind after a few minits or they cook
