My first bike was one of these. I loved it. They are great bikes. Electric start, auto foot shift with reverse. My grandfather bought it new. I rode it for many years.
I had one of these back in the day when it was new. It was my favorite 3 wheeler, loved the reverse. It does use the Big Red engine. I previously owned Yamaha Tri-Moto's.
It's an amazing machine. My dad bought one new and used it in the sugar cane fields. Welded a rack on the back for a 10gal tank to spray with in the fur. 25+ years later he sold it. Barely ever changed the oil. Zero maintenance one. Amazing.
I still have an 86 I had new since I was a kid. We also had 250r s ( still have an 85 since new ). The 250 sx has the best 4 stroke motor ever in my opinion. They run forever. 👍🏼
My dad bought one brand new when I was born. Grew up riding that thing. He sold it to my brothers friend about 10 years ago without telling me and now I can't get it back. Loved it and it was a beast. It felt so powerful. I would lightly lift the shifter and then let it grip after a light rev and it would just pop you straight up and you could ride a wheelie forever with your foot in the bar..... I found this video because I miss it and I was searching to buy one. So mad he sold it. I would have paid him twice what he got.
I have an '86 with the while tank and love it. Electric starter and reverse are really nice. The bike is not only fun to ride it's great for towing my small trailer around. Sorry purists I like the "automatic" trans. I just sold my 350X and don't regret it. This trike serves my purposes better and I don't wear myself out starting it. Great video--thanks.
I rode one back in the late 80s and it was a fun three wheeler to whip around. This was Honda's competition to the Yamaha tri moto 225dx and 225dx deluxe with a little bit more power and probably more better suspension. Gave Yamaha a run for it,s money.
I have a 1987 model and the previous owner put ITP hole shots on the back. It corners a little better than with the balloon tires. (yours is in great shape)
You know I always found the 250sx kind of an oddity. It was like a throwback to the old fat front tire days and it had that automatic transmission. I remember some friends had some and my 200x was much faster and more Nimble. But I never rode one. Are they fun to ride and does the shaft drive make a difference?
The only difference the shaft drive makes is in maintenance, since it never needs lubricated like a chain would. You do have to change the differential fluid every decade or so though. It's very fun to ride, but you're right: it's not as fast as a 200x and doesn't handle as well with the balloon tires. It really is like a sporty big red.
Can't go Wrong with a Three Wheeler nice bike the 250sx is a cross between the Honda 250es and honda 200x I have a honda 200s and a 200x and a 200x with a 200s engine
In my case, I checked Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist several times per day for several months until I found this for a fair price. Same process I use for finding all my vintage things. Takes a lot of time and diligence and when something shows up you've gotta act fast.
It doesnt have a clutch, these you just shift with your foot. You pull in the brake handle and flip the little switch for reverse. It still shifts through gears with the foot like a manual, just no clutch. (Semi-auto)
Rode a 250sx as a teenager, treat it with respect and it was one of the best atvs I ever rode.
The best three-wheeler ever made sports and utility 💯

Yamaha sucks bro, So does Kawasaki and Suzuki , but out of all of them Yamaha is the 💩show of them all bro💯☝️
I got one still, she’s mint condition and a wicked machine.
Love the style with the 80's soft music..... classic!
Found it a bit cringey myself

Great video and a very cool trike. This was Honda's response to the Yamaha 225DX.

Nice trike . I have a 200x , 110 and a 70 . So much fun ! Thanks!
I did have 83 200x but I don't have it now
Also had a 200x but prefer the clutch less tranny for out and about.....

I bought a 1985 Honda fourtrax 250, and from what I know it is just a big red with a fourth wheel
Been looking at one, got the money but just 2 problems...my ball-bearings too big and bones too brittle 🤣
Beautiful clean machine!

The 250sx is faster than the 200x. Look it up on some UA-cam videos.
250sx is faster just not as nimble
Interesting, I didn’t know about the rear gear ratio
so if i swapped the 250sx rear for a big red rear end i would have a 250sx with the same gears as the 250 big red?
I want either a 200x or a 250sx but I'm caught at the racing potential of the 200x and I cant find vids or info on the 250sx racing or drifting
i HAVE ONE AND i LOVE IT!!!
Do they make a lift for these ? Can only find one for big red.
Is it better than the 200x ?
Where can I find one?
Can't go Wrong with a Three Wheeler nice bike the 250sx is a cross between the Honda 250es and honda 200x I have a honda 200s and a 200x and a 200x with a 200s engine
Picking one up tomorrow!
Bonito motocicleta en León Guanajuato ya no hay dessas motocicleta
Where do you collectors find these? After 36 years any I find are beat to death with trashed frames. It’s frustrating.

You didn’t mention it has a clutch

Am I listening to a three wheeler review or an asmr 😂
Nice video! I have the same exact machine in my garage. Know anyone that would want to buy. I need the space
I want to buy it!
@Bobby Moore i'm so sorry. i sold it last October. I posted it for $1500 and had at least 30 calls in first day.
You said 250x
Dnt make another video 😂
17 hp don’t sound right🤔
17.8 to be exact. That was pretty good back then.
so if i swapped the 250sx rear for a big red rear end i would have a 250sx with the same gears as the 250 big red?
