Yeah, my Umbrella cockatoo destroyed seven TVs, furniture, my MacBook keys, books and whatnot. At this point almost everything in my home has some damage. But he is my baby, not going anywhere.

I have 5 indoor cats. You simply can't have nice things. I don't care , I would take cats over stuff any day. I was raised with them , and actually was practically raised by them. I secretly prefer them to people. I guess it's not a secret anymore 😹😂
Finding all the things in the couch is like when i have to reach in the underside of my mattress to get all the cat toys out of it.

Chances are Roxy will be the only raccoon pet they ever have, so it makes sense to enjoy every day with her. She’s an adorable handful 😂

Roxi is like a human in a raccoon's body. She enjoys going outside briefly to see and enjoy nature. But then quickly retreats indoors to the COMFORTS of home - A/C, couch, and a well-stocked pantry!
My husband already makes fun of me with pampering our pets. . I've got to show him this.😀 "she likes the air conditioning" 😂I love this racoon, so cute pulling the sippy cup in the couch, thank you for giving her a happy life!

Eating the couch stuffing with all the chemicals and fire retardants in the fibers sounds like a recipe for eventual serious long term consequences. I'm being subtle on purpose because Randa and her family have done an amazing thing, nurturing and loving this beautiful, complex and endearing creature, despite it's wilfully destructive, exploratory nature.
As an aside, a word of advice to Randa: make the anniversary happen. It's only through this life that you've been able to care for Roxi. Honor the relationship that has given you the life you lead. ❤❤

I love raccoons. To me-- they are like cats with hands. My dad brought 2 orphaned baby raccoons home when I was a kids. The Canadian national parks took them to a protected park when neighbors reported we had them. I loved them and will never forget them.
Those little hands have only two purposes:
- Look damn cute to appear harmless.
- Serve the devil by generating chaos.
These are 100% facts

I can completely relate to this nicest human raccoon parent when she says she’s not sure if she wants to go on her vacation, leaving her fur baby behind. I bet it would be very stressful as much as she would enjoy the holiday! I have been there too!

I feel her in not wanting to leave her furry toddler. I have one with lop ears and angora fur. He only socialises with me. Anyone else he will run away from. I'm trying to teach them on how to bond or at least get him to tolerate them. But he is alot of work, I have to write 3 pages up on time to feed, what to feed, how much to feed. Then how to know if he's sick, who to call and what to do until the vet opens, then the grooming. My bro starts grooming training this weekend XDD

I felt that way about my dog after we rescued her....we didn't go anywhere for over 12 years....we took her with us to San Diego and she HATED it....too many beach rules.

Yes pets unfortunately don't always allow for holidays away. You have to focus on one or the other unless it's only for a couple of days now and then.
I wish people would think of those things before going out and willy nilly buying a pet, only to give them up because it's not practical. If you don't have people on hand who you can rely on or if you're out of the home a lot then don't get a pet out of selfishness.
Be like this lady, all in, holes in furniture and bedding, toddler tantrums included 🤣 - or not at all. It's not fair to an animal if you chose not to fully think it through and later change your mind.

This couple sure has patience and ❤ for Roxi but having been reared by them as a baby they know Roxi well. They have one good dog who doesn't mind Roxi at all👍.

If someone asks if you want a baby animal, you always say yes.
They're denning animals. They're part of the bear family. Probably why she dug out a den in the couch. She would probably love a big nesting box up high. I believe the rehabbers I'm subscribed to use them for their raccoons.
It is clear that the raccoon's real mom smells 'trouble' the moment Roxi was born and decided to left it in the care of the most unsuspecting 'neighbor' she 'trusts' the most😅. Now then, turn this into a 90 minutes movie script and sells it to Disney for a billion dollar😅.

In our state (Michigan) it is illegal to have a raccoon as a “pet”). Even to save it, you have to have a wildlife permit if som type. You get caught with it and you’re getting huge fine and the raccoon would be released to the wild or something more sinister. I would take down any videos if it’s illegal in your state, because many law enforcement agencies monitor UA-cam, Facebook, Instagram, and similar social media sites looking for people who violate state laws. Hoping it’s not, as she’s become a big part of your family. Thanks for saving that baby!!

I can hardly go out of town either to visit relatives, because of my chiweenie, which one of the relatives abandoned with me. She has severe separation anxiety, and if I visit them, they don't want a dog or cat in their house..
OK so how is it that I'm almost 40 years old, and NOBODY has ever asked me if I want a baby racoon? Unacceptable.

Rescuing wild animals is a good thing, but the care should always be based on getting them ready for release to their natural environment, and that requires carefully avoiding having young animals bond too much to humans!

Cute video. But raccoons are not suitable domestic pets for numerous reasons. In addition to their inherent behaviors, they tend to become overweight, as they are foragers by nature. If you "find" one, take it to an animal refuge facility of some kind. Everybody will end up happier.

My daughters dog buried a hole in her couch and she would steal food from the counter and hide it in there, They taped up that end of the couch. Did that stop her? NO! She made a hole in the other end of the couch.
I guess dogs and raccoons (which l love) are not that different.

There is no way.... tearing up your house? For a wild animal? Should have her outside where she can be who, what she is.... I love animals, but not to my detriment.
While its awesome she saved it, i wish they didnt socialize it. Racoons should never be in door pets.
I'm the same way with my babies.. My two cats have destroyed the couch and I don't care.. I just set up a new office at home, brand new everything including a white leather chair, the back of it already has their art work all over it. I'm a little sad because I thought it would of lasted a little longer but my kids do what they want.. I love that you love her more than furniture..
