Excellent video! I just subscribed!
I got one kinda like this brian it’s a easy rc definitely top heavy I love the look of it though I put some stock mini t shocks on the rear stoped some of it and rubber bands on all four corners 🔥🔥🔥😎👍
These are definitely fun and challenging to mod since there is not much specific for them. But it crawls pretty dang great now and you can’t beat the body!
Et merci beaucoup pour vos vidéos 😉
Modifiche molto utili ...cambia molto l'assetto...bel lavoro... ciao dall'Italia
"Very useful changes ... the set-up changes a lot ... good job ... hello from Italy" - Thanks so much! Had to translate, as my Italian is pretty rusty.
Is it possible to put one of those exhausts that dose the back fire and to also make the wheels go full sideways when turning like the drift RC cars
Nice bro!
Thanks for sharing! Great channel! Subscribed 🤜🤛😎
Thanks for the sub and compliment! Hope you enjoy the builds!
@@bcochener thank you 🙏
Can you please leave a link to the new shocks? Good video too!
I got them from Cross RC
Thanks brother! Should do an in depth shock upgrade video. Whered you get the parts you needed to mount on to the axels? Im thinking if i just get a longer bolt... itll do. But impossible to use the existing one with my OME shocks.
I used Hobby Plus CR-18 aluminum shocks which are the same setup for mounting. You can try and swap the bottom shock end with the stock ones possibly? Those OME shocks do look super scale but are super stiff! Good luck with the modding!
Got some scale old man emu shocks mounted! Also subscribed to ya. Love your content man. Keep it up.
This video just cost me $80.
Thanks a lot...
I feel your pain!!!!
Lol i bought the car for 85
Hello, can you tell me where to find the aluminum shock absorbers please.? Thank you in advance for your answer and wish you a good day
Cross RC I think. They are Hobby Plus shocks.
Hey mate, I know this is an old video but How did you lift the car using stock length shocks? I see there are alternate mounting points but I can workout how to remove the shock standoff from the chassis rail
Shoot, I just unscrewed them from the frame position and moved them I think. I don’t remember any difficulty. Sorry if that’s not much help.
Hi, I'm looking to get the katana and the weighted wheels and the shocks would be something I want to upgrade and I looked up the shocks you put in it and it doesn't mention anything about oil in them. Did you need to modify the shocks at all? and what did you put in them? im new to RC so this is all alien to me.
I just added some 2000 CST weight silicon diff oil. You could use a tad bit of grease as well. Done often in the micro shocks to help with the bounce. I did not modify them.
@@bcochener Ok thanks for the help
After a few months of this shock mod, are you finding they hold the shock oil well?
Oh no. I went to marine grease shortly after. Anything will eventually wear itself out of the shock since these have no O-rings. Either really helps, just needs attention every so often. The grease is slower to leak out.
Also what kind of tires are on those aluminum wheels and how do you like them
RC4WD GY Wranglers
How do you get the shocks off of the ball joint?
Shoot, it’s been so long... I just pressed them out I guess.
@@bcochener alright thanks, I’ll have to try it!
What rims you get?
Love your work and have the fms lc80 my self Can you please put up the list of upgrades and part numbers please love to do the weights wheels tires and shocks
Also do you have to oring the shocks for the oil if so what o,d and i,d do they need to be and placed in what positions also how many
Shocks were from Cross RC. Wheels are SSD and tires are RC4WD GY Wranglers, both available at Amain, RPP, etc.
I did not use o-rings. The oil will seep out over time. I switched to using a bit of heavier waterproof grease in them to help dampen.
@@bcochener thank you so much your a legend canni keep you updated on my little lc80 going to get a 1/8 or 1/10 craller soon any advice would seriously be appreciated my man also thank you again and keep doing your channel its awesome
Where did you get those wheels and tyres
SSD wheels, RC4WD Goodyear Wrangler MTs. Check Amain, RPP Hobby, RC4WD.
what oil did you use for the shocks
30w, but it did leak out. I have thick Marine grease in them now.
Please share links for upgrades

Hello! If you get the chance can you tell me if you notice how the front suspension doesn't flex and stuff itself like the back Shocks. I get there's a panhard up front along with the steering arm. Did you notice better flex with the new Shocks up front?.Thanks for your time.
Hard to remember exactly what the exact front improvement amount was, but it performs just great. Check out these 2 running videos. Both were after the shock upgrade. I also raised the body (lowered the frame shock mount position) so it is lifted a bit. ua-cam.com/video/EebuRsmGrFg/v-deo.html

The weighted wheels made a huge difference as well. New ESC can slow crawl soo much better too.
@@bcochener what esc do you suggest?
@@bcochenerwhat wheels did you use
@@ryandurgeloh1510 SSD wheels
Has anyone upgraded a fire horse?
Greetings mate, would these be the same parts for FMS LC80 FCX18? 🙏 Thank you
I don’t think so. Just the body shell from what I have seen.
@@bcochener Cheers.
Can these parts be used for Eazyrc?
Yes, it’s the same except for the electronics I believe.
Are the hobbyplus shocks an improvement even without oil compared the OEMs?
Not really. Just aluminum, still quite bouncy. I've used oil and grease. Both need a refill after a good outing since there are no o-ring seals on the shocks.
@@bcochener do you know of sealed shocks that are compatible?
I think any would have to be modded to fit from other trucks. The shared link/shock ball screw is unique to this platform.
Check out Donald’s channel for some great shock info/comparisons. He has a custom way to make oil filled as well if you’re crafty. m.ua-cam.com/video/AxVexLOMqac/v-deo.html
Hey bro could I get a link for the shocks and wheels?
Shocks I got at Cross RC. Amain and RPP carry SSD wheels.
where do you buy your parts? I have barely been able to find any upgrades
You wont really find any for these by brand name. But they are basically Powerhobby CR-18s. So that is what the shocks are for (got them at Cross RC I believe). Wheels/tires are everywhere in 1" size. Those SSD wheels and RC4WD 1.0" tires are at RPP and Amain.
looks like Cross doesn't have the shocks, and Amain is backordered. www.amainhobbies.com/hobbyplus-cr18-cr24-aluminum-shock-upgrade-set-4-hbp240071/p-qqqet2wa7mzeqctz
@@bcochener thanks !
@@bcochener where did you get the silver ball joint piece?
@@cameronlee1648 No idea what you are referring to. What time stamp in the video?
Nice! Where did you get the cut able weight?
I found it on Amazon.
@@bcochener. What does it original called?
@@smitned I think I searched 'adhesive weights.' Its for pine derby cars.
@@bcochener. Thanks mate 👍
Where to buy the oil filled shock?
I put oil in them... which may have leaked out by now. They seem back to fairly soft - not as nice as they were in the install video. I am going to try heavier grease in them next.
-I think I got the shocks at Cross RC.
@@bcochener yes,i have found one,but they told me this can not be filled with shock oil
@@scalercenthusiasm6983 anything can be filled... but as I said, it will leak out over time since there are no internal O-rings. Grease is the usual trick rather than oil.
How did you get only 5
3 packs of 2
Do the stock tires fitt the SSD rims?
Not sure how well. I have one on my spare but using a Kansans ring. Haven’t actually run that wheel though.
@@bcochener I would love to just get new rims and use my stock tires
Where did you get the shocks
Cross RC. I think Amain has them now though…
@@bcochener did the oil leak out or was it a solid seal?
@@weekendrc it worked well, but leaked out, I’ve since swapped to thicker grease.
Know anything about getting upgraded servos for this?
I do not. Haven't needed to replace mine.
@@bcochener well my brother has one and it seems very weak. If there is any resistance at all it doesn’t want to turn the wheels
@@Atmotom1 hmm? Mine has always been great, but I do have an aftermarket ESC/BEC.
@@bcochener oh really, ok I’ll mention that to him. Which one do you have?
@@Atmotom1 it’s in this video: ua-cam.com/video/yG_U2RlhszA/v-deo.htmlsi=qAsiV8RpUMWberMy
Those are standard friction shocks, not oil shocks. You'd be better off with a small dab of grease inside or green slime lube. For oil shocks you can use the slightly longer Carisma MSA1-E aluminum oil filled shocks, but they require different mounting and do still leak a bit.
Yeah, I know. The oil worked great for a run, but yeah it did leak out. I have gone to grease for now. Hate how the shock bottoms attach with the link. Makes it really difficult to find others that will fit.
@@bcochener you can sometimes unscrew the ends from the shaft and swap around to other brands to make something work, but IMO a dab of grease in the aluminum shocks works well enough if you reapply now and then
Are these shocks from the cr-18?
Yes, I got them at Cross RC.
@@bcochener oh nice and the wheels are they just 7mm hexes wheels from ssd? Would also fit the scx24 etc?
@@Dehztroyed yes.
New version is out now.
Way better
I’ve got one of the new ones. Yeah this is a pretty old video! Lol Cheers!
Are the rc4wd goodyears taller? I can’t tell which is which.
No, they are a tad bit shorter than the Katana tires.
Those rims are pricey
