Nice mod! Definitely an improvement on both looks and performance. I have been resisting getting a small crawler, but I may get this one once they become available in Europe.
The simplest, quickest, and free way to lower the ride height is to remove the lower spring retaining platforms from the shocks. Just push them up and off the shock shafts, and let the springs expand down to where the shock mounts to the axle. This may look odd. This may not be scale realistic. But how many people actually look at that part of the truck anyway? It accomplishes the intended purpose and is simple, quick, and free.
Accidentally did a front bumper delete after i drove it off my desk! 😂the approach angle is actually much better now. Ended up ordering a high clearance bumper off eBay to replace it.

I have the older generation lc80 and I’m looking for roof lights for it and I haven’t been able to find any, do you have a website where I can buy them?
@@Zacks_Editz2234Fair RC usually has a good range of spare parts for FMS vehicles. You might be able to use the roof lights from the FCX18 LC80? www.fairrc.com/products/fcx18-lc80-land-cruiser-spotlight-cup-set?_pos=30&_sid=bb0ca9d14&_ss=r
Greetings mate, any chance you could post some links for all the possible superior parts that I can use for the exact same FMS LC80? Aluminium Drive shafts, suspension, steering shafts, axles etc. Thanks for the video👍
G'day! I haven't really done many upgrades to my truck too be honest. The transmission and axles have proven to be reliable. My favorite places to hit up for upgrades are Mofo RC, Injora and FMS (Check out Fair RC) themselves have upgrades like the metal transmission gears and the like! Between those websites you'll find anything you could possibly need for this truck! I usually only swap out parts that improve performance and reliability 👍
Thanks mate! I don't see why you couldn't 3d print the towers? In fact someone has already done just that and calls them "shock keys" they actually look pretty good with lots of adjustability! www.etsy.com/listing/1572714998/fms-fcx18-lc80-shock-keys
Great video! its amazing how much better this vehicle performed after your mods and wheel/tyre change.. fantastic! I have a yellow one of these on its way so I'm excited about getting it.. After watching many vids about how top heavy these things are I'm looking forward to doing mods like you have discussed. I'm a machinist and can make parts to modify my rig. I'm interested to know how much you lowered the car from stock and how far you tilted the shocks over? subscribed and cheers :)
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm really happy with how it's driving, huge improvement over stock. The upper shock mount was raised about 4mm and moved forward about the same 3-4mm. I didn't take exact measurements I eyeballed it for the first tower then used it as a template for the rest! Your going to have a blast with that yellow 80 series! Thanks for watching and let me know how your mods turn out 👍
I didn't test the towers on their own because I wasn't loving the stock tires. There is no reason why you couldn't add a bit of weight to the stock wheels with solder or stick on weights and soften up the foams it might help the stock tires performance? Thanks for watching and let me know how you go!
Those steel blocks with all the holes are called 1-2-3 blocks, super handy around the workshop. I think I bought these from the Home Depot website, they might have been WEN branded? Can't remember!
Ive seen you got a trx4m too, a bronco, it's been a couple months from this video, how would you compare it to the traxxas? I'm deciding between one of those but i'm quite a mess atm, trx looks more beefy, im planning to upgrade to the bones the one i get, i'll be doing mostly trails and some light crawling.. Thanks!
The TRX4M is easier to work on, the Bronco can be quite capable with some mods and HobbyTown stores often have lots of upgrades and spares. The FCX18 has a better slow crawl right out of the box but it's a bit tall/tippy without mods. Both are fun and capable of trailing and crawling. I'd pick the one that looks better to you!
@@IceWollowNut I just made them out of stuff I had lying around the workshop, the video wasn't intended to be a buyers guide but rather to show how I went about things and hopefully give some ideas. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

It's a pretty capable platform with a very nice scale body! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, I really appreciate you watching and commenting!
Nice mods. I personally like to get rid of the spare tire off the back giving a little more forward bias
Yes that is a great free mod! I think I'll keep the tire it just looks right back there! Thanks for hanging out.

Yep that will lower it! Great quick tip. Thanks for watching!
Loving this channel. Now I'm looking into a lc80
The exact video I'm looking for my LC80 . Thankyou

I just took my bigger Injora tires with metal beadlocks and brass wheel weights. Seems good!
That's awesome! That weight down low to offset the hard body seems to make a big difference for sure! Thanks for hanging out!

😂 whoops! Did you go with a McCue bumper?
Yup!!

Really dig the scale looks of it.. maybe some CM screws to mount the shock towers?
It's definitely a nice looking scale rig! Yes those thin headed screws would work on the towers nicely, thanks for watching mate!
How many mm difference in the shock mounting location with those adapters?
Probably raised the shock towers 4mm and moved them forward to lay the shock over about the same. Thanks for you comment!
What is the red Toyota in the background??? Thanks
That one is a custom short wheelbase SCX24 with the RC4WD Micro Trailfinder body painted with Tamiya TS-33 dull red paint 👍
