Eva Kor: Surviving the Angel of Death

  • Eva Kor was 10 when she and her family stepped off the train in Auschwitz in the fall of 1944. Minutes later an SS officer took her and her twin sister, Miriam, away from their mother, father and two older sisters. The twins never saw the others again. Awaiting the girls was Josef Mengele, "the Angel of Death" who performed unspeakably sadistic experiments on roughly 1,500 sets of twins. When the Soviet army liberated Auschwitz on Jan. 27, 1945, Eva and Miriam were among the fewer than 200 survivors of Mengele's atrocities. Kor talks about her ordeal at the hands of Mengele and her decision to forgive. Recorded on 05/05/2016. [7/2016] [Show ID: 30962]

It always amazed me how Eva could talk about such a difficult topic with such grace and even some humor and wit mixed in. I know Eva died a couple of years ago, but her stories will live on forever.

I came across her lecture via a client of mine who actually got the honor of "working" with her. She traveled to Auschwitz with Eva and was shown all of the things spelled out here. This woman said her secret to the grace, etc. you speak of was her forgiveness of these evil doers. That allowed her to move on from anger and rage. The power of forgiveness is HUGE!

I am so moved. I went to see "Forgiving Dr Mengele" at the Wiener Library in London this evening not knowing quite what lay in store. I was so profoundly affected that I came home and looked up "Eva Kor" on my laptop. And so I listened to this interview. Thank you for sharing your life story and lessons. You have helped to articulate for me what it is to be alive.

I am 88 years old. Eva Kor's lecture was the most moving inspiring talk I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE! I CRIED, I LAUGHED WITH HER, and HER THOUGHTS ON FORGIVENESS SHOULD BE STUDY MATERIAL FOR EVERY RELIGIOUS TEACHING SCHOOL & COLLEGE IN THE WORLD. GOD BLESS HER, MAY EVERYONE HAVE A CHANCE TO HEAR THIS & MONDAY I WILL ATTEMPT TO FIND HER BOOK.

"Forgiveness is the best revenge." What an absolutely beautiful paradox. And in fact, I agree with her. All these days that have passed, years, decades and centuries, the human race had been living their lives trapped in a vicious cycle of hatred. From the crucifixion of Christ to the witch trials to the elimination of Jews and Israeli- Palestinian conflict, it has just been the same brutal story of human hatred revolving around the heads of centuries of men who've evolutionised into the future. In fact, it is an absolutely rare thing to see a final change in the world after all we've come that involves an actual apology to an enemy created. It must have been tremendously hard for Jew to ever forgive a Nazi, but surprisingly forgiveness doesn't have to take that much. All you need is the power to say "I'm sorry" and when that's done, you say it over and over again regardless of the fact those people have harmed you, because you are not like them. You are better.
This woman's message to the world is so pure, so clean and so precious. She is an example of the kind of light we need to see in people not just now, but forever. She is like a gem.

Oh my goodness, I have no words! I was born and brought up in England, born in 1950 whilst I was brought up in the after effects of the War, rationing etc. her speech is the most empowering that I have ever heard. She is amazing, more people should hear her story, particularly those who try and say the Holocaust never happened. Thank goodness there were survivors of this despicable atrocity (even my words mean nothing!) I am now 72 and still can’t can’t comprehend what happened. This lady is soo strong my 😘😘 goes out to her. I wish more people in the World were more like her today but unfortunately they only live for themselves!!🇬🇧

What a beautiful picture of My Lord Jesus. He tells us, encourages us to forgive our enemies. He will repay those who choose to do evil, those who will not admit their guilt. The Lord Jesus knows who they are and he will repay. Their time dead or alive WILL COME, the Lord is our hope.
And now for Jewish peoples, I am african American, I stand in solidarity with you. My Lord ask that I love and I do so gladly . There is a marked blessing for those bless you. I choose love.

I have a hard time forgiving. For me forgiveness feel too much like saying what you did was okay and you can do it again and i will just let you. I'm sure that's not what it means to Eva, but it does to me. And I also think it's different to forgive someone who still might hurt you again vs something that is definitely over.

Why do we still see atrocities in this world? Haven't we learned a lesson from the past? Truth is, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against a spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). What is happening on this planet is the great controversy that has existed between satan & Jesus. Each person will either have the Spirit of Christ or the spirit of satan. Make your calling and election sure. (2Peter1:10)

My late grandmother Evelyn Martine was a US Chiricahua Apache prisoner of war born in 1912, these Chiricahua Apaches were treated pretty harshly by the US government. I don't think it is the same as the Nazis' trying to exterminate another human race, but it shows what humans are capable of doing to others.

Writing their names on paper works for I been doing this exercise all my life but it was for their KARMA to come to them and I witnessed each name that I wrote down on my paper KARMA strike them, every single one in such a short time. I witnessed heavy sorrows and death come their way without my hands ever touching it, but just by the amount of hurting energy they caused in my heart. It was a Spiritual act of revenge and this energy does work no matter what energy you use ... whether for good or for bad.
I know it sounds like such a cruel thing to do .. assuming it would ease my pains. It eased some but not all. I had forgiven these people over and over again before casting their names on that paper .. my Forgiveness was always taken for granted and many kept repeating the same torchures to me afterwards.
Will Forgiveness erase it all, Yes but it won't stop them from constantly striking back at you.
However I'm willing to try the excerce of Forgiveness again. It will be a heavy challenge and I know it won't come overnight as easy as I have given it before because I have much more RESIDUE to cleanse from my hurt before applying that much Forgiveness again.
Yes, this type of Energy does work and is very real.
Thank you for sharing your personal life with us. I started mine on Facebook in my group titled: THICK RESIDUE
Concerning my mother trying to end my life in her womb after she was raped with me, the abuse from her all my life, the incest, the rapes I suffered as a virgin, the whipping til my leg bled, ect. ... I slashed them all on Facebook because my family refused to ever hear my cry.
