You'd think that a company claiming to have been in the business of building pre-built gaming PCs for 25 years would have figured out how to build a great gaming PC for the price. It looks like Xotic PC instead chose to use that time figuring out how to get the most money out of buyers possible while giving them the weakest PCs on the market for the price. Let's talk about it.

I bought a laptop through Xotic PC roughly five years ago and it was one of the worst experiences with a company I've ever had. They're utter garbage from start to finish. Terrible buying experience, terrible shipping experience, terrible customer service experience once I had to send it in to address some issues it shipped with.
I can't stress enough how terrible they are at every level.
It looks like they spend more time on flash than substance.
me too i got a custom laptop from them and i kept getting blue screen of death within two weeks of owning it and crashes and glitches where my screen turns white and starts flickering like crazy
Thx for the HONESTY AND calling out the shortcomings w/some of these companies.
just ordered mine didn’t see nun of this shit lmao wow😭
Could you please make like an update video or a guide about custom pre builds
Check my last video 👍
@@braethorn thanks oh I have tow SI’s for you to review
1. mifcom
2. hitech
The last one is a German SI or like European SI there are like no custom pre build company’s in the EU so I would love to see an expert’s opinion on these one if you have time for it
I have 12 TB of storage in my PC, I brought a good bit of it from my last 3 PC's. Including monitor and everything I need to game with a 7900X 32 gigs of 6000 mts cl30 ram, Aorus B650 Mobo, and a 4090 Sama Neview case and fans for less than $2700
9:10 that's so weird!
SO weird
honestly thats why even when i got my prebuilt i made sure to have 4 and a half terabytes so i can mess with anything i want and still have space to have games run efficiently
Deceptive sales practices makes me never want to buy from the companies that use them. Too many SIs have crappy starting specs to have and inviting "starting price"
I've seen a few otherwise great SIs use some questionable tactics before. It's usually due to some marketing consultant suggesting them. Some marketing "best practices" that work in other segments don't really play well with the PC industry. Thankfully, I've been able to share my perspective in those situations and they listened.
What XPC is doing doesn't seem like the same thing. It takes some knowledge of PC hardware to do this kind of bait and switch. It just rubs me the wrong way.
I looked as some Prebuilt PCs at a "custom" site and i wasnt impressed at all with their prebuilts, especially in relation to Price.
i ended up getting a pc from them, 4080 super i9-14900k build. good parts, the build was MOSTLY good. but i had wires getting pinched by one of the drive bays on the hyte y60. fixed that. had a fan that wasn't working, suddenly kicked on and one of the mobo connectors was angled up into the fan and i had to fix that as well. at least i knew when that radiator fan started running LOL. but otherwise the pc looks beautiful, pretty good cable management. idle temps for both gpu and cpu is 28-30 celsius.
I am brand new to pc and i was shopping around and even i could tell that they were not speced right. I talked with them and told me i couldnt get a ryzen 5 buikd for under 2500. They try to give a "small" company feel but its just a store front.
I bought my son's pc from them for about $900. Then once I really started looking into PC building I realized how much I could've gotten instead of buying it through them. That was definitely a situation of, If I knew then what I know now.
I'm sorry to hear that! I'd honestly like to know more about your experience. If you don't mind, please reach out to me at the email address listed in my channel info.
@@braethorn I will email you screenshots of the PC that I bought from them. Sadly I paid much more then I initially stated.
What gaming pc would you recommend? I’ve only ever played on console. I don’t have much knowledge on pcs. I’m thinking of buying my first one. I just don’t know which one I should get.
look at rent a center. they are bad bad
WHY HAVEN'T I DONE THAT YET 🤦♂️
i have a custom laptop from them and it kept giving blue screen of death and crashes and glitches where my screen turns white and everything starts flickering its like what the heck and it started happening within two weeks of owning it they even gave me solutions and it got worse every week
At this point, a SI should put a rtx 4090 in a 100$ stock dell computer.
sup man, I am testing my HP i9 4060 .. coming from a 970 MSI GT72S (MOTHERBOARD gave up and quit on me)
Hello, I just watched this video, and thank you for the info. i almost bought one of there pc. I'm in the search for a great manufacturer to build my first pc. I would love to build my pc, but when it comes to the programming, I will be lost . What would you do, build my own or from the manufacturer?
Thanks have a great day
Building a computer doesn't require any programming.
You could build your own, but prebuilts aren't bad. It's always a risk. Just have to do a lot of research. What's your budget? What gamers do you want to play? What resolution do you want to play in?
I received an MSI gaming laptop from XoticPC almost nine years ago. It needs replacement now just due to age and I think I might go with Skytech this time, but the XoticPC was priced competitively at the time, it went out on time, and I've had no issues with it.
Yeah, I didn't really talk about their laptops. Most laptops you can buy from system integrators are made by an OEM and branded by the SI for sale, so it was probably fine like you said. Unfortunately, Xotic PC can't really take credit for the build quality when it's made for them by another company.

Hey Braethorn not really relevant to the topic of this video but I picked up a CLX Ra with an i9-14900k + 4080 and 32g ddr4 with 1 tb storage for around 3700. Is that a decent price or could I have done better?
Looking at others now I see I could have done better but I’m still hoping this’ll give me good value since I’m currently on an i7-10700 and a gtx 1660
Could have definitely specced out a considerably more powerful build but it’s definitely going to be a huge upgrade.
If you’re not into local ai, CAD type work or maxing out every single game you should be great to go for the next 3ish years at least and good to go for another few. Would say you overpaid about 5-600 minimum
(Cpu: 600
Motherboard: Seems to be 325 max
GPU: 1200 or so (4080 super is very similar and retailing at just under 1200)
Ram: 125 or so for moderately high speed ddr5
Ssd: 100 max for a good (although not top of the line) 1TB
Power supply: 225 (1200W might be overkill but a maxed out computer nowadays apparently needs over 1000 for safety margins, although the significantly cheaper 1000W options are fine for a 4080)
Case: 200 generously but maybe it’s a hyper premium case
Build commission: 300 extremely generous (people on my local marketplace seem to be asking about 50-75 to build)
Total: 3075
)
but really it doesn’t matter all too much unless you’d miss that $5-600 enough for it to upset you.
I built a realistically sub $1000 pc for 1200 though so you’re not alone in not maximizing your value for money
@@4hedron852 I appreciate that, thanks! I’m not too worried about the loss, but it runs really well on games at max graphics I struggled runnning on low on my old pc. I do wish I had looked further and might have been able to get some slight upgrades
@@harrisongaming6270 Looks great except for the 1TB SSD. They should have made it at least 2TB.
Hi Braethorn. I wish you had commented about one PC at 10:53: the XOTIC PC G20 ULTIMATE NVIDIA, which costs $8,499. This might show how even over-the-top PCs are too good to be true. How many 'upgrades' are available and their cost?
At that price might as well get a Falcon Northwest.
@@swallowedinthesea11 I've got one on order. A Father's Day gift for me.
I'm very new to PCS know very little and I checked their website and it only took me about a minute or so and I got a feeling something wasn't right with the pricing and the specs far as I'm concerned f**k* this company they should string it up😵
Seems like there is more going on here beneath the surface, they at first glance appear to be a custom built gaming PC site. But really what is going on they are buying unsellable parts in bulk, then packaging them something they are not and selling. In the end they just fail when they fail or open up as someone else again
We are the best of the best of Si's and only use premium parts like the GT 1030!!
The best of the best of the best SIR

@@sadangelcig its a joke about xotic
Glad you told me, now im not buying!
Sorry B. don't quite agree with you and J. It's getting to the point nowadays that even a terabyte drive isn't quite big enough for modern games.
Both Jay and I actually say that exact thing. That the minimum is 1TB and often, even that isn't enough. So, not sure what you're disagreeing with.
@braethorn I'm sorry man it was a misunderstanding on my part. I watched the video again and realized my mistake. But I'm with you on it being a minimum. I'd even go as far as saying 2tb minimum, but I digress. I had to add a 4tb drive to my pc just to install the games I wanted to play because the 1tb drive that came in it was almost half full with Windows and a bunch of blootware of witch I finally was able to remove, thanks Dell. Thanks for the response. I do appreciate it.
@DKW1975 all good! If it helps, I'm out here pushing SIs to increase their storage standards. Not just in capacity but also in the quality of drives they use. Nothing should come with less than 1TB, and if it's around $2K or more, it should be 2TB. SIs should keep up with the needs of consumers.
Wow! These SIs are getting worse, rather than better. ☹
It looks like Alexander PC and iBuyPower are the only good ones.
There are more good SIs than bad ones. My concern is that companies like this one benefit from my overall positive messaging about pre-built PCs in general. I don't want their bs to go unnoticed.
There are a few other solid SI fabricators out there. Another option is the route I took, I did my homework watching Braethorn and others. I picked out all the parts within my budget and walked into Microcenter and picked them out and had them build it for me.
No to ibuypower. I would include Falcon Northwest as one of the best.
Anyone who blindly clicks on an ad and purchases a 1,000+ computer deserves to get ripped off. Stupid is, as stupid does. I think the take away from this video is marketing will always be a gimmick and this gimmick is insulting but it works. They brought you to the site and many other as well. It's the same thing when they say 50% off but it's all marked up anyway. Welcome to corporate america

Video edit out of a wet paper bag 😂😂😂
I mean it is sad tho lol
If you think 500GB is "acceptable" space in a computer nowadays you're delusional at the absolute best. When games are taking over ONE HUNDRED GB per install? Yeaahhh... no.
It drives me crazy. Yes, adding storage is the easiest upgrade one can make, but most pre-built PC buyers don't necessarily want to have to upgrade their PC. It should be a complete product right out of the box.
My standard is 1TB minimum, and if the PC is around $2K or more, it should be 2TB minimum.
I feel like prebuilt pc companies do this crap on purpose to prey on people that are too scared to build pc or don’t know anything about pc specs or some parents of some kid that wants to play Fortnite and just lazily slap “gaming pc” on it.
Always better to build your own.
Don't look at one bad company and think all pre-builts are bad. I don't make these videos to feed your confirmation bias.
The majority of SIs are great and provide a service that is crucial for getting more people into PC gaming. Most DIY enthusiasts started with a pre-built. That list includes JayzTwoCents, Paul of Paul's Hardware, Pedro PCMR, etc. They've also openly agreed with me on the value of pre-builts (check ep. 100 linked in this video). Do you know something they don't?
I feel like it's really disingenuous to go after all these small businesses when you run giveaways with one of the most laughably bad big box PC builders on the planet. Also, have you ever actually purchased one of these builds to see what the experience and build quality is like? New to this type of content, as I usually only watch LTT videos where he actually reviews the product, not just shouting about pricing or build specs. Are the PCs at Xotic overpriced? Maybe, but so are the PCs at iBuyPower.
Xotic isn't a small business, or new to this industry. They've been around since 1999 according to them.
Ibuypower is the largest SI in NA, yes, and they won the very series you're bringing up from LTT twice in a row based on value per dollar, tech support, etc. How is that "laughably bad?" If you're going to reference a series, you should probably be aware of the results of that series. Even when they didn't win the most recent one, they beat every other SI easily in the tech support category.
And no, I can't afford to buy dozens of PCs per year for the purpose of review. I instead rely on the direct feedback I get from my community through the SI Testimonials section of our Discord community. Far more reliable than reviewing a single PC. Besides, do I need to review a $2,800 PC that comes with a 4060 to know it's a bad deal? Nope. It's just a bad deal.
Side note, not sure how you "usually" watch LTT videos since your YT account was just created TODAY 🤔
@@braethorn Appreciate the reply! Seriously. I've never had a YT account through this email, but I'm trying to make a fresh start. I actually saw this on my "original" account, but I don't plan on using it anymore so I migrated here. I get what you're saying. Like I said, I'm not really familiar with your content. I wasn't talking about a series from LTT, just his random PC reviews that pop up on my page. I've worked in customer service in the past, specifically retail, and as I'm sure you're aware, customer reviews can be a bit one-sided, because people are much more likely to leave an angry review instead of a happy one. In any case, I agree that this is overpriced. I misread it as a 4060 Ti. I wasn't feeling too well yesterday and got mixed up looking at all the different builds on their website. Again, appreciate the reply!
