You can read minds, Omar? Just this morning I was searching "best Archaia gns". I would also have added Six Gun Gorilla, because not enough Spurrier on this list 😁
As an old lady I just got into graphic novels when my favorite author's son, Joe King came out with Locke and Key which made me realize just how much I loved all that art while reading a story. I do tend to prefer supernatural and horror but humorous stories so Handbasket of Heads, Sandman, The Witcher, Grave Sight, Umbrella Academy, October Faction(although Nexflix was more in depth, better), Lovecraft Country I absolutely adore but hey I've only started when Covid decided I needed something to occupy my mind so as not to lose it!
Rose welcome to the world of Comics! I'm glad you enjoyed Locke & Key. I need to read Handbasket of Heads. Thinking about getting the box set of Joe Hill books later in October. I'm glad you found comics even though it was because of Covid.
I love this quick recomendations, thanks so much, Omar. And I totally get why Mouseguard made you trick this list to include Archaia. It's a BEAUTIFUL book, and one of my favorit indie comics of all time.
I absolute love The Killer, a French comic brought to America through the Archaia line. Starts at the story of an assassin going through life, turns into a much bigger geo-political story. Great book!
This is a great list/great video. I’ve been wanting to jump into Boom! I read Irredeemable and incorruptible about a year ago. I bought Incorruptible at my local book store and then I had to track down Irredeemable. I really liked those books and it peaked my interest in the company. This video is what I needed. But I’m with you Omar Power Rangers just wasn’t for me. All the kids in my class as a kid loved it and I was the only one who didn’t watch. I remember everybody talking about and I was over there like “cool, but are you guys reading/watching X-men?”
Check out "The Many Deaths of Laila Starr" just wrapped up and the trade is on the way. One of my favorite reads this year from any publisher let alone from Boom!
@@jhrosa These Savage Shores was great! I'm enjoying his Swamp Thing series right now too. I'm more excited about him on Venom than Al Ewing but they should both compliment each other!
Hi Omar! I have several books from BOOM/ Archaia I collected thru the years in hardcover/floppy format. My personal favs were "Killing Pickman", "Black Fire" & "Feeding Ground" which I enjoyed immensely. I would recommend the "Mouse Guard" books also. Great review! Any chance you could do a top ten of a few of the more obscure comic publishers like Oni Press, Top Shelf, 01 Second publishing, Jonathan Cape, Drawn & Quarterly & Dynamite who deals with a lot of the Pulp characters. Would make some interesting viewing. I have collected a majority of books from these companies who have produced some fantastic stories!
I love Matías Bergara's style. The art for the last chapters he worked with Spurrier for Hellblazer were amazing. And I just ordered Coda. Thanks Omar!
Hey man love the books might have to add to my collection. I have a question, do you know if Umbrella Academy vol.2 deluxe edition HC is going to get reprinted?
The Spire and the three volumes of Coda have been in my Comixology Unlimited queue for a hot minute, I definitely need to jump on those by end of year.
Great list Omar. Boom have a great variety of titles. I've got Wynd and We Only Find Them When They're Dead collected editions, which are great! Can't wait for volume 2 of each. Hopefully there'll be an deluxe OHC of We Only Find Them... because that artwork will explode off the page! 😁 I had Something Is Killing The Children Deluxe HC on pre-order, then found out that there are 5 more issues after what is collected here, so will wait to see if there's a 'definitive' edition coming in the future 🙄
Great vid, Omar! My favourites from Boom are Firefly comics, it's also the only thing from Boom I have House of M is on sale on Book Depository for all those EU Minties! 13€. Many others are on sale as well, 8-30% discounts. I pulled the trigger on House of M and Dungeon: Early Years Vol 1 & 2 by Christophe Blain because I've had my eye on it for a while
Also, this is my first X-Men related book, what would you recommend me to read in addition to that, I know there are tie-ins to that story but I don't know just how big the universe around the book is, where should I start?
I really enjoyed Grass Kings and Black Badge. I was on a Matt Kindt binge last year after reading Dept H. These stories were a much needed break from Superhero books. Another favorite from Boom would be the Woods and Red Mother.
Uf, I can't believe you don't have Big Black stand at Attica, Grass Kings and We only find them when they're dead on this list, they are so formidable. Anyway, Klaus, Irredeemable/Incorruptible and Mouse Guard will always be on my top list. I'm getting every one of those Spurrier titles, but you could never get me to read a Power Ranger comic... They'll be dusting on my collection waiting years to be read. Thank you so much for the Top Omar ✌️
@@NearMintCondition I mean if you include obviously they would take 4 to 5 spots instead if you leave them we will get few more cool uncanny omar hidden gems suggestions In european comics 🚶 I know it's selfish but I kinda love that aspect of it
Nice. -i love all of these, and most things from boom, and wish the Power Rangers book would be reprinted. -but I personally disagree with some of your list. Although not everything current or recent is finished, I think there are a lot of gems currently. Most notably Wynd, which I would put over most books on the list, and on par with the others.
Power rangers was part of my childhood along with Yu-gi- oh, Batman the animated series, Justice league and of course Xena. Hopefully one day they reprint the deluxe editions. The box set is too rich for my wallet.😞
My fave BOOM reads are their whole Cththulu mythos library, the Steed and Ms. Peel series and the last thing I read in 2019 - 2020 the Snake "heard you were dead" Plissken Escape series. These are collected TPBs but still count don't they? Otherwise I got nuthin'. 🤷♂️
I would add the Planet of the Apes miniseries; the crossovers with Green Lantern, Star Trek, Tarzan and King Kong are 100% enjoyables. I wonder that a some point, Marvel will get back the licence to publish these comics as Disney now owns Fox.
Might be cheating, but I really enjoyed Boom’s HC release of the old Marvel Bill and Ted Series. Had never heard of it until I found it at Half Price Books, and it was a good buy! Boom definitely has some gems that, sadly, don’t get much attention
Alot of good solid recs in this video. Read/ have a few of these. I saw Heavy Vinyl I saw at a book story and even tho the art is really nice im not big into GL books so its a pass for me.
@@NearMintCondition There's two omnis (TPBs though) collecting all their series and one HC based on the unused original script plus a bunch of crossovers that's BOOM originial. I have everything but the crossovers. I would recommend at least the first omni and the HC
I hate when a story just throws you into it makes me feel like I'm missing something like I need read something else before I read this talking about number 9 4:20
As someone who's burnt out on traditional superhero comics, I appreciate this channel! I've added so many to my wishlist already.
Thank you so much. I’m glad you are finding new books to check out!

If only I could read minds.

Thanks Omar!
My pleasure!

I'll have to check that out.
Should do a top 10 valiant comics next!
Oh I’m excited and been waiting for this one!
I hope you enjoyed.
Klaus ... excellent. Loved the Boom Studio 'Planet of the Apes' (Visionaries, omni etc)

Ohh I sure will.
Great overview on these great books from Boom! I love CODA and Giant Days. A series from Boom I highly recommend is The Woods by James Tynion.
A neat idea seeing you in a small window while you are talking about the comic.
I ordered the SIKTC slip case edition through DCBS. I also saw it on OPB.
Another recommendation for hidden gems is The Many deaths of Laila Starr.
Great taste I concur!
Ohhh Hellz yeah!

Of course SiKtC and Irredeemable are here. Whoop whoop! Great vid!
P.S. Tynion is pronounced Tie-nin! 🤪
Thanks for the info! My dood!
Empire Records fandom reporting in. Classic movie.

Wondering as well
I think right now it's out of stock with some new printings coming later.
Gogo Power Rangers is AWESOME and it’s ridiculous that there isn’t a deluxe on that run. Goodness.

Hellraiser and nightbreed :)

I haven't brother.
Do u like western comics or eastern comics(manga) more

Hey , Please review 18 Days by Grant Morrison
Are all 3 klaus hardcovers good cuz its 90 dollars in my country for them
I’m waiting for a complete collection. The first one is amazing.
How about Deathmatch by Jenkins and Magno? You might have the whole story in your library, buddy.
I need to finish it. Damnit. I just wrapped up Monsters. :)
Mouse Guard has a new issue that just came out a few weeks ago.
YES!
Omar, isnt life and times of scrooge a boom imprint?
It’s been printed by several publishers. Lately with Fantagraphics
I hope we can have Call of duty comic from dark horse or Boom studio

Coda Baby!
Yes sir!
Strange Attractors by Charles Soule
That might make it on another list.
Rip no once and future
He mentions he hasn’t read much of it in the last 20 seconds of the vid or so. Maybe next time :)
I've only read the first issue. Waiting on the HC. :)
Coda is among the best comics I read in the last couple of years. Bergara’s art became a referent for me.
