This tower is absolutely a miniature display for a store. They can display their rare on sale minis or whatever they want and it also becomes an attraction for the store.
Accepting offers 😄
Agreed.
Yup my thoughts exactly - this is designed for a comic shop store display.
but quarter it so it would fit nicely in corners
Put it on a slow rotating turner, so you can see all the sides and all the mins...
For all of us who won't make it because of size/storage/cost/tools/time/money - you should finish it! You're takin' one for the team, brother, and it's freakin' awesome. Carry on and thanks!
😮 I think “measure twice, cut once” should start with “first - measure your table”
My wife would be verrry frustrated if I built something that big.
I am living vicariously through you right now. Haha
My cats on the other hand would be DELIGHTED
Once you prime that thing you're gonna get a big spike of inspiration, I'm excited to see where you end up taking it! 🙂
First I gotta figure out HOW to prime this thing. I think I need a cheap electric paint sprayer.
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial I rather like the foam colour. It looks like the tower is made of jade.
I’m looking forward on how he is going to paint it.
@@euansmith3699 I was thinking that as well! The texture from how the light hits it has a cool marble took too
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial TO PRINCESS AUTO!!!
The use of 80's Montage music is inspired. Love it
Major Tower of the Elephant vibes! Perfect for some Hyperborean High Adventure!
Gonna need to paint up some Conan minis to go along with it. Even if only for some sick glamour shots. (Though it's so huge, it might be difficult to see the model for the terrain, or vice versa).
Actually seeing this tower with a jungle vibe. Overgrown with vines and foliage. Moss. Wow, now there is a cool idea. Just spit balling, but could be fantastic. Also maybe some hidden mountain temple, covered in snow and ice. Kind of Tibetan Lassa theme.
Wholesome doesn't come close. Also, I've been a fan for YEARS... your content is real, it's fun, and it's pure "you." That's pretty awesome man.
I, for one, love this tower. I totally understand the need to create, not just to create, but also, to reach for bigger and better things. To push one's thought process and abilities. Plus, this tower is just so big and amazing. Don't let the negative comments get to you. There is always something positive that can be found from every experience.
I think it's a really good idea to sell (or give away) this tower to a board game club or some store that would like it. And don't giveup! you're doing great build and it must be finished :) we all would love to see the final result.
For the top part it makes sense to make a platform for rituals or something similar. For some reason the tower reminds me of the tower from Lord of the Rings... and I think it is very suitable for a grimdark future filled with cultist magic
Yeah, you could put it on a turn table and store SO many minis on it haha! Not efficiently... but with style for sure
Ooh, a motorized turn table at a stately pace would be cool.
I crochet as my hobby. I make little stuffed animals and characters. I constantly have people telling me that I should be turning it into a business, taking orders and such. But I always tell them that it's a hobby for me. I just enjoy making my little crochet dolls. I don't need a purpose in doing it, I'm just having fun with it. Trying to force a point to the hobby would detract from it I feel.
So keep on making this huge tower and just get lost in the joy of the craft.
You are doing this for those times when you step away and see the entire thing and laugh at how incredible and awesome it is. THAT's the only reason you should need. Don't let the practical questions tear down the giddy laughter of joy. You inspired me to start making terrain because you helped me get out of my head and follow the joy. I hope this drop of encouragement can repay you for that.
"If you build it, they will come." Thank you for sharing your concerns about what you are doing there. That is an insane project to take on and I am digging you sharing the process. It would be an awesome mini display. When it's done, maybe split it and use it as your mini displays instead of bookshelves somewhere in the house?
I love it. Just to build for the sake of building is enough in itself.
As for the display idea: Cut it in half, straight down the middle. Build a gate house to go between them, a HUGE gate house. Turn it into a wall-sized display case.
Art is an expression! Express how you feel and show the world what your capable of! And if it's a "silly foam tower", then hot dang you better express and make it!!
This is fantastic work, Jeremy. It's wonderful.
Your rationale at the end of the video is perfect, honest, and it helps me understand why I do what I do at times...start crafting "things" and see where it takes me! 👍🏻👍🏻
No kidding, this is one of my favorite video series you've done in a while. Seeing you just "go for it" with your creativity helps inspire and sort of give me permission to do the same. Love this project! Go bigger! As for ideas... It gives some serious Thulsa Doom vibes, which to me says stairs. Giant stairs up the lower level to some giant doors to get into the base woudl be rad. Especially with hefty stringers between the stairs.
I love when creators just go for it. I am an artist so I totally get it. If anyone was bored and left the channel I think this is the kind of project that will respark some interest. Sometimes you just need a monster build haha
Put it on a turn table and make it a mini display! Don’t let the naysayers get ya’ down. I’ve really enjoyed watching this and I see all the effort you have put into it. Whatever ends up happening with it, it has been a fun journey so far.
Dude, have you considered cutting it in half and placing up against a wall, that way you could have two opposing sides, or dark and light, or old and new. It could go either side if a bookshelf, or doors, you could put terrain between the sides and tell an epic story. 😎
This journey into the unknown is great. Not all art need to be practical, you are letting your creativity run wild and it’s amazing. Thank you!
Add lights to it and use it as a light for your shop as well as mini storage. Basically playable furniture
Having just completed my biggest build to date, a Space Marine Fortress for playing & displaying, I certain approve of this build! I am thoroughly enjoying these videos so far.
I'm still loving the build. Creating something simply for the sake of creating something is the purest reason to create anything! While storage could end up being a problem I still urge you to forge ahead, it will end up being fantastic when completed.
split it in half to have two towers for background
Creating for the joy of creating. I am waiting with anticipation to see what this will look like In the end.
Hey Jeremy - just wanted to say this is one of my favorite videos that you've put out. I appreciated your authenticity in this video with sharing your creative design process and even the vulnerability of your doubts with it. I just found it creatively refreshing. Keep doing what you're doing.
I love watching big projects come to life ! It's so interesting, the problem solving and the creativity !
I love your builds so much! Your videos are a highlight of my week.
I would never build something like this - so big and this type of building - but I am learning so much and getting such great ideas for my own build. I recently saw a video where a guy built a wood working bench 3 times and on the third time he said that you sometimes have to build something several times before you know what you really want. So embrace it! This is great learning!!!
That is a tower that would make Sauron proud! Very inspiring and showing your process and techniques is helpful to the others crafters out there. Thanks again for all you do on your channel. Looking forward to the next video from Black Magic Craft.
Next LOTR inspired battlegame right here..... Saucony Eye of Terror timed tower escape maybe ha
It has no purpose, it is massive, it is taking lots of effort to build it. I love it! I think it is awesome you have taken on a project using all you've learned in the past to build something somewhat at the limit of your abilities and equipment, but if we don't push ourselves then we never really know what we are capable of. Keep it up, I look forward to seeing the finished product!
I think that it's gorgeous, there is nothing wrong at all with creating just to create. There doesn't have to be a purpose other than the joy of creating. Keep up the awesome work!
I'm loving watching you casually build the tabletop version of the tower of Babel. Can't wait to see it in all it's glory!
I do love the green color of the foam. Gives an otherworldly quality.
I can't be the only person who keeps thinking 'forbidden cake' whenever I look at the tower
I completely identify with what you’re saying about building for the sake of learning and creating new techniques. You have always been a source of amazing inspiration, and also innovative techniques and building methods, regardless of how anyone thinks of this project and it’s functionality. Thank you once again and as always we appreciate what you contribute to this Hobby on a regular basis.
hey jeremy - i switched to my phone so i could type a comment. great video, im absolutely loving this build.
i frequently watch your videos like a set of instructions, and that creates a certain focus and tension. watching this series, which i might get inspired by but will not be recreating myself, feels relaxing and creatively reinvigorating. i get a similar feel watching Trent or Bill. Process, flow, and creative instinct are how projects become a hobby, and thats the reason i still watch years later.
i hope someone sees the beauty of this build and buys it so you dont have to store it, haha, but theres always personal value in just making the ding dang thing. your journey as a maker has been an awesome thing to watch.
I AM LOVING THIS PROJECT! KEEP GOING!
Like me, you are a MAKER. Sometimes you must MAKE something, regardless of practicality.
Level 16 bard here. I got a nat 20 to give you inspire!!
My stirring words give all the positive support and encouragement to continue this build! It will be fantastic and you give continued morale to all to remember what matters most:
Create!
Mate, thank you for "sharing what you are making" with us. I myself have gone over to 3d printing most terrain buildings nowadays because I just lack the time to realize the stuff I'd like to build otherwise, so watching you conquer projects like this one (accompanied by dope music) is just amazing to fill the "crafting void" in my heart.
To paraphrase "We're gonna need a bigger bucket of mod podge." That's going to be amazing once it's done, and i like the idea above of being a display piece for a game/hobby store. Local painters can have their minis on display and get votes for prize etc. Fantastic work as always 😊
This video makes me realize you could make foam drinking mugs. Make them look like old wood tavern mud and seal them with a food safe seal. You cut these like a barrel or dining mug. This would be a very cool departure from what you do without going to far and you could make one for each person in a campaign.
I have to admit, I was one of those nay-sayers.
The storage issue is still a massive issue (as per your own words) but seeing the bottom section added to it now? It looks a hell of a lot better! The details you added, (arches, crenelations, etc) look pretty damn sweet! One thing I do like of this video is that you're not skimping on the "build process". When I first found your channel, my favorite part was to watch HOW you built the thing. Understand the thought process behind your actions. This video has quite a bit of that so I'm grateful for it and encourage more of this in the future!
If I were in your position, I would try to figure out an over-arching theme for this build so that the theme can inform your future choices.
I'd spend as much time as I need to make this tower the most badass thing ever built, play a one-shot on it and then hold an auction for it.
I've been converted. Can't wait for the next video in this series!
Sometimes watching someone do something they love is enough to inspire the same love in those who observe.
You are a mad man, but in the best of ways. Building something giant like this is a dream many of us have, seeing you do it is the closest most of us will come to it. Keep it up, I am loving the process.
You’re doing awesome dude. And it’s actually nice to see you being candid about your concerns over it. You’ve captured something a lot of us feel in this hobby.
dont you ever stop!! this is amaizing! I made a real size T-rex skul, put red Led, painted it like was a dark stone fossil and put gold strips on it like marble. Is a giant project that now decorate my living room ^^
You can almost use this tower as a chandelier kkk put it upside down in the cealing! Then turn the light on and iluminate the whole tower!
Jeremy, I love these kinds of big projects. I love seeing the process, I love seeing it all come together, and especially the final product. You and Eric’s massive titan keep me motivated to keep making JUST FOR THE SAKE OF MAKING!
Keep it up. Looking forward to seeing it finished. That base would be great for a kill team type game when the tower isn’t in place.
The tower is amazing! I can't wait to see more videos and the end result. Please do not give a second thought to nay sayers, they clearly do not understand the satisfaction creating can provide. Your builds are outstanding, you explain techniques and how to so very well. It is because of your channel I have started creating. Regardless of what you end up doing with the tower, I know it will be outstanding and you enjoyed the adventure. God Bless and please keep creating and sharing!
I'm imagining it covered in vines and players making their way to the top for whatever adventure comes their way.
I love your reason for making it. Do something for no other reason than the journey itself, that is reason enough.
It would make a wonderful display for your personal collection. I’m just glad you share your creative drive and skills with us. Oh shopping for an electric sprayer could be fun. I’m all in on this series. Now get back to work.😉
I really appreciate the sentiment at the end of the video about it being important to make things and reminding yourself that you enjoy sharing what you make.
It's looking great so far and I can't wait to see it throughout the rest of the process.
I can't wait to see you painting it and getting it done. But no hurry 'cause like you said: "It's important to make things," and this is fun to watch!
It's been a pleasure to watch your process with this one and I completely agree that sometimes you just need to create and build for the sake of creating and building. I've built several 1/12 scale dioramas as big as my kitchen table with zero forethought as to where I'm going to keep it or what I'm going to do with it but I just wanted to do it and nothing was going to stop me. Painting this one will be fun!
I'm imagining a glass case with a spinning platform. talk about the coolest mini display ever! i think this is a really cool project, i got so excited when this came up on my feed. i cant wait to see it finished!
loving the literally old school protractor! brings me back to my middle school days! obviously not making awesome foam towers but yeah lol
I think you are doing an amazing job. Also, you are making what you feel like making. No one really needs an answer to that. This is a learning experience for you as well as those of us who follow you. Enjoy the process. I have wanted to do something similar, but just avoided it. I'm finding inspiration here. Keep going!!!
It looks great, that's all that matters. That and your House by the Cemetery t shirt!
we dont need a reason to create art
art is meaning
im very glad you are making this, my Mrs asked me to build her a tower, no input on style or theme, no requested function or need
she just wants a tower
ive been putting it off because i wasnt sure how to go about such an open request
this video has inspired me to put that project back on the list
you've made me realize i was overthinking it, so ill just go make a cool ass tower
Really nice build so far. Little tip for gluing that big base together: Line them all up with the outside up and then use painter's tape to get them all together. Now turn it over and put wood glue on all the contact points (the glue can't go anywhere because there's painter's tape on the other side. now bend them all together and use a final piece of painter's tape to have them all perfectly lined up. It's so much easier than doing that piece by piece with hot glue.
Main objective for the Idols of Torment.
I have used Magic Wash and craft paint thru an airbrush right on foam as a primer without a problem.
Idols' version of "Game of Death" at a convention. Every level a new challenge to reach the top.
Okay, this is shaping up really nicely! The detail bits on the central tower part are freaking rad. And the archways on the bottom are pretty slick. Feels like the arches need...either something on top, or perhaps on the outer side to break up the space a little. But it is looking freaking awesome, dude. Cannot wait to see where we go from here!
I'll store it in my Attic and happily DM for you lol! This is a fun project and you should finish it! Spray paint for a primer base would also probably work!
Never stop crafting mate, you have one hell of an imagination and i find whenever i hit a block, referring back to some of your videos really inspires me 🙂
Suggestion for storage; cut it in four vertically and store one quarter in each corner of a room/against a bookcase.
And perhaps make some drawers in the base?
I must say I am/was worried about the practicality of this (mostly the amount of materiel used).
But it got me thinking about all the other ludicrous builds on UA-cam and why they didn't give me the same feeling.
Most of them are frail sculptures held together for a photoshoot and then fall apart or gather dust.
But this looks solid enough to LARP with! It begs to be used. IT wants to roleplay.
Absolutely epic! With your connections, I am sure we will see this displayed in a window somewhere! Loving this!
Go at it! Go full force! Go go go! Create, make, have fun, do because of doing! Not everything has to have a function or a purpose all the time. 😊
I do love the creative process. Mine is writing and music. Yours is crafting. It's pretty tight as a mini display.
I feel like design wise the answer is to double down and go all in, make the most of the process and figure what happens to it afterward. I love it for sure. It would definitely inspire me to make my own display architect
Dude don’t give up on it. You have out so much work into this. I have made some big dioramas myself sometimes you just make it and figure it out later. This is epic and great work.
The process of just seeing you fabricate is really satisfying and inspiring. I found myself thinking the things you said at the end of the video before you said them. It’s not a practical piece, but it’s still good to make it
It’s an amazing build and just the raw unpainted tower has a very cool ethereal vibe to it. Gave me some great inspiration for my DnD campaign. Love to see more.
I am definitely getting a "Tower to Heaven" feeling from this build. All of the details look amazing.
Building the base after the middle section has actually made it even more epic than it would have been if you started with the base. I don't think you would have started that big.
I look forward to as many videos as it takes to finish this project. You can figure out what to do with the tower after you finish it.
I am in love with this Tower of Babel madness. This is already extraordinary, and is halfway to becoming a legend!
Personally I absolutely love this build and am super excited to see it painted. if nothing else could always do a giveaway, I'm sure there is some store owners or people with designated game rooms that would love it
That thing is insane, but in the best possible way. Keep going, man, you don't have to justify anything to anybody...the work is its own reward!
It’s giving me Thalassohobbier temple vibes (they have amazing UA-cam videos). It’s gorgeous and I agree the creative process is a wonderful feeling, to just get in there and do it. I am not much of a planner, I find when I do plan I get too much up in my head about perfecting the end product and it never gets there. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
I am loving it. Building it just to build it.
Also, I am sure a hobby store would love it to display minis. Especially if you for it to slowly rotate.
I absolutely adore huge terrain, and I feel like this could be a great display in your entryway. Like yes, it can be terrain, but it can also be to show your love of gaming!
It is a beast, i can't wait to see where you're going on the next step.
Please, carry on, we're looking for it 😊
And maybe it is just about making great videos to share with your community. Like Bilbo Baggins, it may not be about the destination, but about the journey.
It looks so cool! I like the “fight your way down out of the tower idea- maybe if a game store takes it, they could run that scenario now and then, and just use it as cool terrain/ mini display otherwise. It’s good to build things for the joy and the experience. Don’t doubt, what you are doing is awesome. Looking forward to the next one!
This tower and watching you build it is itching my brain in SUCH a good way. All the symmetry and repetition of shape and the SIZE! Really a great setpiece. Can't wait to see what the next step has it looking like
Tabletop Gaming and art are really all about the rule of cool and a giant ridiculous tower for D&D or whatever is definitely cool! Enjoy the project, it's awesome!
Looking forward to seeing it completed and where it ends up. A shop display piece would be a great outcome.
Wow. What a cool project mate. Love how you are working it out and expanding as you go.
Everyone would love to do projects like this but don’t for all sorts of excuses but you’re doing it! Great job. And thanks for sharing your thought stream as you go through it 😊 love your stuff!!
From Orthanc and Barad-dûr in Lord of the Rings, to the Tower at Charm in the Black Company, to Urithiru in the Stormlight Archive, towers are staples of the fantasy setting. They fire our imaginations and are fantastic set pieces. You are doing something great. Don't let the naysayers in your head (or anywhere else) get you. Stay the course.
I appreciate your spelling out your air management steps. Do you do that for every project or is the green foam particularly noxious over the usual pink? Or was this just that much more volume in this project. Sorry if you said in the video, but I missed it.
That’s just what I always do when cutting g any foam. I’m more diligent when I’ll be doing a lot of cutting though.
here's a suggestion, with all the doors you have you could have a rule where your players roll a D20 and travel to a random other door(of course each door is counted and assigned a number on the D20) if they chose not to roll the D20 they just go up to the next floor to the nearest door. With the D20door it would add more chaos and variety for your players to bounce around the tower depending on the end goal of the event. Cheers bud, this was another fun build to watch. I can't wait til its painted up and finished off :D
Storage idea for you Jeremy. Put a thin sheet of metal (+ paint) on the ceiling and magnets on the bottom of each piece of the tower, and then you can attach them to the ceiling hanging down and it will mostly get them out of the way.
That synth music is amazing! If you re the mastermind behind it, i wanna listen to this all day!! Oh and the craft is awesome😅
Making for the love of making is the greatest benefit of being community driven. You get to build and the rest of us take inspiration from it. I get great dwarven vibes from this tower and I would love to see a game club fill it with Lord of the rings fight scenes
That tower looks awesome. I definitely get the 'the process is the goal' approach. I'm, right now, building a sort bookshelf tree thing, something I most definitely don't need, definitely don't have space for (I'm half resolved to just trash it once I'm done, I really don't know where to put this), but it is a lot of fun to make, and has given a positive outlet when anxiety and stress get too much. Your channel and your content has given me the confidence to just go for it, try things I've never done before and just give the idea in my head physical form, just for the hell of it. So, please, keep doing what you're doing, and I'm really looking forward to seeing where this tower of epic proportions project will head next.
I made a similar (but not as big) tower dungeon. I did do the stack thing without gluing it together so I could use the interiors. It loses some stability, and makes it harder to manage, but it works a charm for the purpose I set, and is a tad easier to store. I usually just leave it together in the corner of our game room, and put our most used for the current campaign miniatures on it for easy access. Its like a display stand for our current campaign, with the heroes and their allies on the top, and the enemies they have fought (or might fight) on the layers below. Works a treat and just a suggestion for a possible use for it. Love the build, and glad to see more from you again!
I cannot wait to see how this tower unfolds as you progress. And I completely understand where you're coming from! My first piece of terrain was an arched stone bridge (inspired by you) and it became so complex and I sat there thinking, "wtf am I doing?" But, it ended up being amazing. Still haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, but I'm waiting, lol.
Ride till you die, mate. This is awesome! I agree, this is something better served in a game store or perhaps some one who has a ton of space and can honor it. I simply envy your creative ability and how you can envision what you want and then create it. Having a background in construction certainly helps!
My only suggestion is for the paint-- maybe try something similar to the unpainted green foam, as far as the color goes? The way the lighter color lets light bounce off of the layers of the tower is really neat, and it would add some flavor and theming if the tower was painted to look like it was carved from jade or serpentine rock.
Please see it through. It looks amazing. I can't wait to see it painted.
Looks like the best wedding cake ever!
