Hi Bob. Love your insights in this reaction. This song just about says it all about Courtney. The vocals, as always, are out of this world, but there is so much more here. At the time this was released, Courtney had only picked up a guitar about 6 months prior and look at the fancy finger picking that she was doing at the beginning. Some play a guitar for a lifetime and never get to that point. More than anything though, as you mention, look at the creativity. She basically slowed down the pace, especially in the first half of the song, and just changed it's whole vibe. This song was released 40 years ago and covered by so many, including some of the biggest names in music, and it took Courtney to come along and envision it sung this way. She basically changed the first half of the song into a ballad, before reverting to a more rocky, raspy second half. This is the first cover I've heard of this song that can go toe to toe with the original. Fortunately, the choice needn't be made. This and the original are such different songs that they can stand side by side, towering over all of the other cover attempts made over the years on this classic. Whenever Courtney gets a hold of a song, magic happens, and this is no exception. Totally incredible. IMO, truly the voice of a lifetime.
As you say, all you need is Courtney's voice and she will fill an entire stage without musicians. She made a lot of such videos during the pandemic. Sometimes in her live broadcasts. She really entertained her fans in these sad times. Where her fan base also grew. I've never seen an artist who didn't release any music be able to keep her fans like she did for 7 years. She really has something that makes one curious about what she will do next. Because she is the artist from whom you should not expect the expected. And I don't think we'll ever know what direction she takes in the future as well. But it's also what makes her who she is.
We all know that she is a Rock Goddess. She could have easily done a straight Rock cover of the classic 80s Rock anthem,... and she could have. But to take the original, metamorph it, origami it and adapt it into a softish rock ballad, with just an acoustic guitar, which she was learning at the time too, she is a phenomenal artist, at the highest calibre.
Another great Courtney reaction, Thank you! Did you know, she turned 20 yesterday? Sad news though, her little dog Teddy took sick the night before and she said he was having an emergency operation. I think he's a Yorkshire terrier and she moved to Yorkshire last year or maybe before so unless I'm mistaken they're both Yorkies.

Why dud she stop doing covers on UA-cam after this performance? I'm guessing too few views, and maybe copyright issues with the full song. Tina Turner had just released a remix of this song the same year. Tina has passed since then.

Update: Teddy is back home and resting and from the picture I think I was wrong that he's a Yorkie.
