I've said it in a dozen posts and not one person has given a thumbs up... and it blows my mind so I'll say it again... the most important fact about our Supreme Court that is almost entirely ignored is that all six "conservative" justices have been appointed by the president who got the FEWER votes in their presidential election... some guff is made about the Trump appointees... but people don't realize, it's all of them. Bush Jr lost the popular vote and appointed the first three... and Trump lost the popular vote and appointed the other three. So six of our nine justices do not represent the majority of America at the time of their appointment. That's huge for public trust, and no one talks about it...
Yup, true, there is a _criminal_ amount of stuff we don't talk about these days...
On top of that McConnell held of on Obama appointing a justice at the end of his presidency yet rushed a appointee on trumps last few months

and there are decades old issues that have never been properly dealt with, caused by how Israel was created (not that is was created, but who made the decisions about borders).

When these palestinians chose to only do business with fellow palestinians, the Israeli's decided to destroy the palestinian businesses - you know, like the whites did to black communities in the US past. There were mistakes made on many sides. And the Israeli's don't need their illegal settlements in the West Bank and Gaza, but they continued to grab land from the palestinians inch by inch, forget about all the palestinian land given up just to create Israel.

Some of the campus protests have become violent, some 2000 people have been arrested. But it should be noted that once again people are criticizing the amount of force police are using on mostly students. It should also be noted that there is a purpose to these protests and some of them are seeing results-- the administrators are actually talking with the protestors about divesting from Israel, which is what they want (other than an end to the war in general, which i sense the colleges are not in charge of)

Here is an enhanced recusal rule:
"A nonpartisan Justice may compel two junior partisan Justices to recuse themselves."
What is wrong with that idea? Nonpartisan = confirmed by a majority of the Senators from BOTH parties. Hard to believe, but that used to be the norm. It only switched to the opposite way within my lifetime.

I am a registered republican and actually more of a libertarian. I have a serious problem with how political the SCOTUS has become. They were designed to be apolitical and, had they remained so, would have provided a check against power in the other branches.

This started long before Oct7 and Israel is the perpetrator.
That land has been fought over for ages. Three main religions started there and lay claim to the land. However, I watched a documentary on the years ago. They interviewed a Palestinian man and he said "I remember working side by side with my Jewish brothers. We worked hard and together." It was after Hamas got more of a footing that things changed. I am sure leaders in Isreal didn't help either.
My step-dad said, "the land is cursed and will never be at peace. Only when the world ends with there be peace there.
Trace this history from the 1890's. Include, Zionism Weissmann, acetone, Gallipoli, Balfour, the mandate systems real underpinnings, population demographics, the 1937 uprising, WWII, the UN resolution 181 and the hearings surrounding it, the apartheid studies, the documented inequality issues, the violations of international law, and Hamas 1987 as one of 7 political factions. The indigenous people argument does not have relevance in colonial settlement circumstances and does not apply here. Palestinian land was gifted to Israel by those with no authority and no right to do so breaking promises made to the Arab world during WWI. We teap what we sow.

The current combat in Gaza didn't start with Oct. 6th. It started with the occupation of European Jewish colonizers in the territory of Palestine over 70 years ago. While there was an indigenous Jewish population in the territory at the time, they lived in relative peace with the native Palestinians until the influx of Jewish settlers and the creation of the State of Israel by the European powers. The Jewish settlers steadily pushed the native population away from the coastal and fertile regions of the land over the course of decades until most of the Palestinians were boxed in the areas that they occupy today. In the 70 years since the creation of the State of Israel, millions of Palestinians have lost their homes, farms, livelihood , and lives. Even in the West Bank Palestinians are routinely harassed by settlers and are living in conditions that we would never accept. If it were Americans we would advocate for violence, but because they're brown skinned or Muslim they, somehow, are supposed to endure unbearable living conditions without complaint. I'm not suggesting that the actions that Hamas took on Oct. 6th were justified, but the response by the State of Israel is the definition of genocide and ethnic cleansing. It's an evil response that Gaza never deserved. Speaking of which, the creation of Hamas was greatly aided with the intervention of Netanyahu, because he didn't believe in a peaceful solution offered by the leaders in the West Bank. He purposely funded Hamas to oppose the Palestinian Authority, and now he's using Hamas as an excuse to kill tens of thousands of innocent people. The students absolutely understand the history of the State of Israel and maybe Titus, et. al., should brush up on it, too.
Our three branches of govt were made to be co-equal, so a power the President gets should also apply to the judicial and legislative branches to keep things even. Surely no one will object to this.
