I found it difficult to find the low point infront of the ball, until I focused on trying to hit the ball forward and not up, and start relying on the loft to get it airborne. Your body is clever and the movement you describe in this video becomes a lot more natural when you stop trying to hit the ball in the air.

This is so good. My instructor had me on this for the last year and took me from a 9 to a 4.5. No more weak push cuts, quality of strike is way better.

high handicapper here....I found myself fooling around with this by accident the other day... great to see that I was actually on to something... now I can try to actually work it into my game...thank you...

Great advice and something that really works if you can resist the urge to strike the ball. Where would you suggest doing the practice swings to get this feeling when actually playing?

I haven't tried it yet but would expect to block the ball to the right (getting ahead of it). Are there any alterations needed to prevent this when changing to bottom out ahead of the ball?

This changes when the lie is not perfectly flat though. I’ve found it’s much different where you put your weight and even the swing when it’s a ball above or below your feet, or a downhill lie, etc. This stuff seems to go out the window a bit cause I feel off balance when I try to get the hip rotation.

use to be a plus handicap and still chunk the crap outta it couple times a round.
it's mostly the lie and weight shift and not rotating enough.
would be great to see this taken on different lies on the course and how to compress it on a whooping downslope haha!
    cheers

60 years old. I was a decent athlete when young.
I have struggled for years from hitting the ball fat.
I thought it all was from releasing to early.
No matter what I did. I hit it fat.
Flash back 30 to 40 years ago. Don't slide your hips, it makes you slice.
In recent months after watching many videos including yours.
The left hip must shift left of your left foot to move the bottom of the swing forward.
There is always hope for next year.
Now if I could just putt a little better. Hmmmmm

I like the word shifting left hip. But not opening it until after impact. For me hips shoulders are all square for that split second of impact then belt buckle to target into follow through.

So many video about this alrwady. Can u make a video about the low pt that is half inch closer to farer away from u. That’s hitting or missing the sweet spot. But no one makes a video about that. Is just as important as hitting it fat or thin

Do you have to hit the ground at all? Is it not better if the club head slide under the ball?I mean the shallow divot is under the ball ,not before or after the ball.
