A rice cooker is an invaluable small appliance, especially when that rice cooker is multi-purpose. I tested three rice cookers, and I was impressed with how perfectly they cooked rice. I was even more impressed with how easily they can go beyond rice and cook other foods.

It’s so easy to use, but it’s so hard to clean up the lid

My problem with these rice cooker is the inner pot surface being non stick coated, I have to replace it every few years when it starts peeling. Each one is about $80. I never use metal utensils on it and wash it gently. I hope they come up with stainless steel pot.

The tiger has a ceramic bowl, though! That's why I no longer want another Zojirushi (it served me well, but I also am not enamoured with Tefal).

Quick mode = 45 mins. Regular = 60 mins.
