  • Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Nostalgia ICMP400BLUE 4-Quart Electric Ice Cream Maker with Easy Carry Handle LINK to Ice Cream Maker: amzn.to/2H7p1D6
    RECIPE: anitacooks.com...
I used a total of 6lbs of ice and about 1 cup of salt for my 6 cups of ice cream mixture.
Wash bucket, canister, lid, lid cap and dasher with warm soapy water and dry. They are not dishwasher safe. Chill Ice Cream Mixture for a few hours. Chill Canister until cold to the touch.
Pour chilled ice cream mixture into chilled canister. Do not fill more than ⅔ full. Put dasher in the middle. Cover with lid. Place canister in the middle of the bucket. Put about 6 cups of ice (smaller cubes or crushed) into bucket around the canister. Add ½ cup salt (any kind) on top of ice. Add more ice and salt. Fill below the drainage hole on bucket. Put motor on top and slid tabs into slots on bucket. Plug in and run for 30 minutes. After 10 to 15 mins, check and add more ice or salt if necessary. Also, stir ice and salt if you need to. Unplug unit. Remove motor. Wipe top of canister and remove from bucket. Ice cream will be soft serve consistency. Transfer to another airtight container and freeze until hard. I hope you found this review useful. Subscribe for more reviews of products you use every day. Thanks for watching :)

Have faith in JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR for HE SAVES from hell❗️
      *What is the Gospel?*
The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
      Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
      Romans 10:9

Hey, just wanted to let you know that you saved my Xmas tonite.
We have the Blue Nostagia maker like in your video, but we couldnt get the blade to turn. Then I saw you put the lid on the canister first then connect it to the motor and it worked! We were all bummed out about not getting any ice cream .... until i watched your video. It saved the night! We now have nice homemade eggnog flavored ice cream!! Yum. Thank you!

I recently bought an ice cream maker and the instructions didn't really mention how you put layers of ice and salt in the bucket in layers and how much of each and how to do it, they were very vague and didn't really explain any of that end of it. If it weren't for ' how - to ' videos like this, amateurs like me would be lost. Thanks for providing this video.

Just bought this at Kohls. Replacing my old one that was stolen in storage. These old school ice cream makers are soo much better than anything they've come out with since this style. My grandparents used this style, and I still have all their recipes. It reminds me of my childhood. Thanks for the great review. ❤

I have a question I know you posted this video five years ago, but I’m having some trouble I have the exact same nostalgia ice cream maker, but for some reason after I take the ice cream out of the canister to put it in a Tupperware and put it in the freezer after I take it out the freezer when I’m about to eat it it is very hard. Like rockhard is my freezer up too high or what am I doing wrong? Like my ice cream is not scoopable, It’s very hard and it crumbles

That’s the case with most home made ice creams. Leave it out of the freezer for a few minutes before scooping 😀

@@bestkitchenreviews I also noticed I only use a 16 ounce container of heavy whipping cream along with one cup of milk and my sugar and my flavor. I noticed that you use double that maybe I should add more? I will give it another try
      Thank you for responding

I really wonder why the canister itself has to be the moving part instead of the dasher? It seems to defy logic but perhaps it is just logic.

It’s because it improves the heat exchange between the ice cream base and the ice

I've seen a video with this do better than a much more expensive ice cream maker. A lot depends on the recipe and post churning freezing time.

mixes with the ice and makes it melt at a lower temprature.
it is essential because plain water at its melting point isn't cold enough to freeze your ice cream.

    Wow.. the hard way...
why not just get a sealed container type that you freeze?
    same price, sometimes even less.

    • @amaiaamaiaa
      @amaiaamaiaa 2 роки тому

sealed container type is like 40-50 dollars minimum. I have that type, the benefit of this type is that you can just buy a bag of ice instead of having to wait for the container to freeze. because in my experience the container takes minimum 24 hours to freeze, they say 12 hours but with only 12 hours it doesn’t get cold enough to finish churning before the container defrosts. with various bags of ice you can keep making batches without refreezing the container.
