Unboxing my new Charnwood B350 Bandsaw

- I treated myself to a new band saw recently. I choose the Charnwood B350 from Mcquillans tools in Cork. I chose this one based on Price, availability and Shipping costs. It’s a brilliant saw, so much better in every way than my last band saw. It’s very heavy, so if you buy one of these, watch your back! The table bed is extremely heavy and cumbersome. Two people would be a real advantage to handing this on the tilt carriage assembly. Before i bought this saw, I watched another un-boxing video which I found really helpful. The link is below.

Great review I have 2 Charnwood lathes and am ordering their 10 inch table saw tomorrow, But this Bandsaw is next on my list, I have been very happy with Charnwood's tools and customer service too. Thanks again for a helpful video.
Hello my friend.
Your new band saw is a good brand. And quite heavy. The assistant helped you with the weight. I find your choice and choice right. Nice quality band saw. You'il do a great job with this saw. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. I can get this brand saw. Great greetings. Merry Christmas....

Cheers Barry. I'm very pleased with it so far bud, it's made a big difference in the shop. Been wanting to upgrade for a while now, should have done it much earlier! Hope you and yours have a great Christmas!
Sounds thanks a million like you going to upgrade from a smaller bandsaw. Great info 👍

Hi Andy, I'm at a serious crossroads as regards a bandsaw. Can't bear my old Screwfix any longer. After 3 years, would you still recommend? Decent enough price in Mallow tools at the moment. Thanks. Shane. Ennis.
Yes mate, I would buy the exact same one if I had too without hesitation. Its a great saw, I've had zero issues with it.
Hey, did you by chance try cut metal with the saw? Says it can cut aluminium etc.
Hi, I'm looking to buy this bandsaw. The information on that web says the blade length is 2560 mm. I'm looking to invest in better blades but most I see are not exactly the same length as the stock blade.
Would it be okay if I got some blades 5 mm longer or would that be a problem?
Hiya, thanks for watching and I hope the info was useful. I think you might be in trouble if you get blades of a different length. The tensioner on the back won't take that much slack out of the blade.
@@andy.elliott.foreverpens Thanks for your response, Andy. Do you have any recommendations pertaining to good blades and where to buy? Is it easy to find 2560mm readily available? What works for you? I hear bandsaw performance relies greatly on blade quality. I'm a soon to be woodworker. Just gathering my tools at the moment.
@ajiwukari to nlbe honest I've stuck with Charnwood blades so far. I have 3 different sizes for general use, rip sawing, and a 3/8th one for tight curves. I've had mo issues that I can say so far anyway! Good luck on your woodworking journey, this bandsaw is definitely worth it.
Nice. Puts the lidl bandsaw and its clones in the shade. How is it for resawing?
Hi Mark, I haven't tried resawing yet. I'll have a crack with some thick stock late this evening I hope!
@@andy.elliott.foreverpens Any reports on resawing? Looking to purchase this bandsaw for resawing hardwoods
@@DeanSmith-ch1ep I can honestly say, with the supplied blade, and no tweaking of the bearing guides, my bandsaw simply ate through mahogany on a RIP cut, and was perfect. It's a great saw!!!!
@@andy.elliott.foreverpens Sound man thanks for that. Best of luck boy ; )
