And "Blue Christmas" is probably Elvis's most beloved Christmas song. It's been played all over the place every Christmas season for 66 years!
Elvis recorded both of those songs in 1957 & the original studio versions are what you need to hear. For many people they're an important part of the season.

His Christmas album is the best selling Christmas album OF ALL TIME! The '68 comeback special was supposed to be a Christmas special; turned out to be so much more. I also like his Christmas song, "If Everyday was like Christmas". Elvis was so versatile. He was awesome at blues, gospel, rock, country, Christmas......you name it.

Believe it or not-this was a "studio jam" and was not planned as an album track it just happened as they were working up Christmas songs for his second Christmas album.
Which is why Elvis kept repeating the same lyrics over and over. When Elvis was digging a jam he just kept going-he loved the surprise of what his musicians would do musically and they loved the surprise of how Elvis would change his vocal.
This man is phenomenal! His bluesy/jazzy songs are soulful and awesome! This is so good... and the musicians are world class! That bass line, Wow! 🎸👌

Elvis could sing the dang phone book and make it soulful and sexy... don't mess with this man, his voice or his command of the stage... . he just had that IT factor... wish I had been old enough back in the day.. lol.

Believe me, I am a devout Elvis fan. Maybe because I also grew up watching , and listening to Bing singing, “White Christmas”, I prefer his. I wish you knew how hard that is for me to say!

I remember when I first heard this song! I was like, where did this come from?! Years later, I realized, that this was just pure, basic, Elvis. From hillbilly cat, rock and roll revolutionary, or mesmerizing gospel singer, he was the master.

Elvis did not do a Christmas special but the 68 comeback special is what the Colonel wanted to be a Christmas special, with Christmas jumpers etc but Steve Binder, the producer, fought against it...thank goodness. Elvis' original Christmas album is the biggest selling Christmas album of all time....about 20 million copies.

Guys, it's the same line up that was Elvis' live band from 1969 until his death. They weren't exclusively his studio band but they did play on a lot of his '70's studio recordings as well.

Elvis was born in blues and soul country. He grew up in Mississippi and Memphis! It was in his blood! I grew up in Mississippi 50 miles from Elvis’ birthplace and have lived in Memphis all my adult life. My Dad had a country/ blues band. This sounds like my Dad’s music.
'68 Comeback was suppose to be a Christmas Special, but turned into what is t did. "Fake Parker" didn't get his way. Elvis did one or two Christmas Albums.🎄🎅 Merry Christmas you two!
