We are a family of three (Wendy, Mauricio and Melina - Age 9), living in the suburbs of Washington DC (Vienna, VA) and getting our financial life in order! We earn a solid multi-6 figure income but in the past, we have struggled to pay for unexpected expenses and emergencies. We truly lived paycheck to paycheck even though we had a positive overall net worth because of our retirement savings.
In 2016 everything changed. We decided to get out financial act together and since that time we have gotten 1 full month ahead in our income (which means what we earn this month goes to pay next month's bills), paid off well over $200,000 worth of debt, started planning ahead and saving for big financial expenses (like summer camp, a new car, a down payment on a house to name just a few) and we are even paying CASH for my Mauricio's graduate school (he's changing careers and becoming an architect!).
We believe that there is no one size fits all plan for being successful with money so we are creating our own path. It is our theory that every family should evaluate their own financial struggles and determine the root cause of those issues. For us, those issues stemmed from committing to giving without looking at the impact on our own financial situation. We did not have debt because we bought fancy cars or clothes, we had debt because we chose to give away hundreds of thousands of dollars before we actually earned it. Now when we give, we give with cash that we have saved for the sole purpose of giving.
We understand the shame and guilt of having such a large income and not having enough cash to pay for an emergency...like when the transmission on the car goes out or there are large medical expenses. We have developed a plan that works for us and we are so proud of how far we have come since 2016!

excellent video, we have a meat freezer and vegetable freezer both of those are chest freezers then we have a upright freezer for homemade breads and ice cream and fresh fruit, and a bacon freezer that's a chest freezer that's small .
I do Rotate the 3 big freezers twice a year 😄 always wear winter gloves or you will have frozen hands.

We’re Western Canadian farm people where everyone has at least one freezer in their basement for garden produce & another for butchering / hunting time . We used to call them deep freezers when we were growing up - now it’s just called the freezer . 😊❤️👌

I went with reusable shopping bags with handles. It's only been a few weeks, and I'm not sure if I'm happy with the new system. I was sure that by corralling like items, things would be easier to find, and that may be slightly true but everything didn't fit back in!
Thank you sooo much for this video!! I just got my first deep freezer. Which is much smaller than yours but we are a family of 2 so I believe it will work for us.
I clean the ice chest buy hitting it for a few minutes with a blow dryer and then use an ice scraper and it falls right off. Takes me about 15 minutes to do the whole thing.
I like your "organizational" videos. I know you (jokingly) said that you are the most organized person you know, but I happen to think you are the most organized person I KNOW! I love your ideas, but can't seem to implement them. I am lazy & disorganized, ESPECIALLY when it comes to my personal life. I am much more organized for work. (Still using the term "organized" loosely, even for work. I'm just more conscious about where things are.) LOL I am heading off to watch you "laundry system" video. LOL

Maybe put a couple bowls of hot water on the bottom for a few minutes before you chopped at it.

Did you have to turn off or unplug your freezer to clean it ??
I use 3 shopping bags for meat. Mine is smaller. I lay things on top of the bags. I still hate looking in it for items. I also have a tray for butter etc
Chest freezers cause less freezer burn than upright freezers do and they use less energy!
