Thanks Chris, now I know that I could have avoided taking my car to the shop to do a diagnostic to find out why my step son said I had a check engine light after he drove it. Guess he'll never drive my C5 again as it cost me $128 to clear the code and for my mechanic to tell me the car went into lean mode from a rapid RPM climb. You have other videos that I will be watching as well. Thank you.
Hi Chris! Another informative and good ‘How To’ video. Nice to be able to actually see some kind of definition of the code without having to plug in the ODB deally thing. I still love C5’s. Maybe it’s because they were the last year to have the hiding headlights, I dunno. Just a sleeker look from the front because of that. I was sad when the C6 did away with this feature.
I need to know how to get my c5 z06 to get my DIC to function all it is showing me is total mileage. It was working perfectly until I took the positive battery cable off the battery I know I should have discounted the negative cable first any help would be greatly appreaciated
Hello, who would you recommend sending the cluster to..per my DIC buttons do not work, none of them do. And per changing my wheels out im getting low tire pressure readings and can't see my mileage info.
All my dash buttons worked .. the other day service vehicle soon came up on the DIC .. and stays there.. no matter what I press it will not go away, I can only change from mph to KPH.. can’t pull codes off the dic , nothing , just says service vehicle soon.. no engine light no traction light or abs fault .. my cruise stopped working at the same time . Please help me someone
Thanks, Chris! Will use this info to thoroughly check all codes on any C5 I look at. Looking for one probly before or just after end of this year. Trying to wait to see (hopefully!!) that C5 prices go back down a little. Rite now, they are $2-5,000 higher than a year ago.
Thanks Chris. Nice to know about those check valves, in case I ever have that code come up.
Glad you're back. Thanks for all of the helpful information.
Been back for a while.
Reading fault codes would be a nice feature to have on some of the newer versions.
Hey Chris. A great cars & coffee is at Rock Point Church 2nd Saturday of each month.
Great video Chris! Thank you for all the help, guidance, and teachings. Love that yellow car too!!

That mechanic is full of it. The engine doesn’t go lean from “rapid RPM climb” aka driving it like it was designed to do.
@@mycorvettelife Thanks for letting me know. Either way I'm sure that stepson hot rode it as I've never gotten codes doing so.
Thanks bro 🙏 im new to vettes.
I wish you lived closer! I am getting ready to change the driver side door hinge on my c5. i could use a hand or two. Lol

From what I read, vette c5 is equipped with OBD2 port? Correct?

Thanks Chris! Where did you look up what the codes mean? Did you just google it? Thanks
Yes
Now this is smart. They don't have this for C6's and newer?
Nope!
Was hoping you lived in Florida.
Chris: What the part number on that valve?

Find a local Corvette specialist. It sounds like you have some electrical issues. Talk to any local clubs and see who services their cars.
@@mycorvettelife thank you and love your videos very informative!!
Once you changed the check valve, did it clear the check engine light?
Yes
How did you verify the check valve solved the problem?
Cleared the code and it didn’t come back.
What about those fuel system codes P0171 and 174?
Like you say Chris, easy peavy.
