Their live tone is not very good. Those AxeFX solid state amps ain’t cutting it. They have the money, just use tubes amps like they used to. Sounds 1000 times better.
They seem to be ok with sacrificing quality for convenience of the AxeFX. Go listen to S&M1 and 2, the guitar sound difference is insane. Frankly the digital stuff does not compare imo.
It might or might not be about AxeFX. Could very well be their choice to sound like that... Pretty sure AxeFX and similar products can offer solid tones if wanted. 'Cos they could also choose to sound amazing on albums, but instead their guitars been sounding like crap ever since St Anger!
Theres barely any difference. Also touring with tube amps is a MAJOR pain in the ass. Not just from a financial standpoint. Digital is on one level with real amps now
it was only mids, no crunch at all, and definitely not aggressive. The final tone had bass and highs, ie classic metal tone. Unless you think that Kill 'em All has more aggressive tone than puppets, then yes.
sounds thin... when you're in to the room... man that's a nightmare for the ears, 2 hrs after end ears still ringing.... a crunch punchy sound don't hurt your ears.
Except Mechanix sucks in comparison - but don't let me get in the way of you fellating a 60yo who, at this point, is more famous for whining about his old band than the one he's in.
God i wish they had used more mid freqs or a bit overdrive in their both live and ablum tones. The sound is still heard huge but not meaty. It never be like in 89 but it shouldnt be as well. But a bit push a bit gain couls be enough
It’s taken all this time for him to realise that someone has tampered with his guitar tone? His guitar tone hasn’t been right or any good for 30 years! The last great sound was on AJFA
Uh....he didn't react much at all. He adjusted and corrected. By wasting storage making Video implying that he reacted To the tone being off on his guitar, You made it seem like that. It was out of the ordinary And he reacted with a temper tantrum. When in fact he's actually a down-to-earth. Guy who realizes these things happen Based On humidity and air temperature. The tone on 72 seasons is trash, and justice for all had the best guitar tone and also the best drum sound , they should never have abandoned that tone
He'll be super pissed when he realises Lars is drumming
"drumming"
"""Drumming""" lol

the Hetfield from the 80s travelled in time and changed his present guitar tone.
This tone in this video is better than the tone on the last 3 albums.
nah bro hardwired and 72 seasons have both really nice tones imo

So true....felt that. They sound sterile
The tone he said sounded weird actually sounded better than the tone he liked. More crunchy and aggressive.
Prob needs new tubes in the amp
They're a hard rock band now, man. Thrash is a thing of the past to them.

Because you just can tell how it sounded in the room from a video taken on the phone.
@@deeznutz7365 As far as I know they switched to Fractal Audio...🤘🏻

😂😂😂 Nice one, that's actually my favorite kirk moment. Poor guy is stuck with the second best rhythm guitar player of all time

Idk how the hell they can still hear anything 😂❤
They use really balanced tones now, it works better live and for recording but man, that pushed scooped sound was awesome in the 80s/90s.
How do you get all these clips, are you the old guy with the white beard that they call Santa?

@@thelastdaybreathinginetern1385 but you’re not the one who knocks.. so you lose
They should just call the four horsemen “one of Dave’s songs”.
How about, "Cliff who? Dave writes all our songs!"? When Cliff cowrote almost half of Metallica's early records that everyone hails as the classics.

Oh boy, what a prank! That would drive me nutzoid too! Now I have some ideas though...😁
James fucks with his tone each album and it just keeps getting worse. He shouldn't be that confused lmao
Most singers voice drops with age.
He said it’s a little brash lol 😂
A horse foursum is my fav Metallica song
Click bait . Because “a guitarist and tech working together to dial in a consistent sound from room to room “ doesn’t catch as many flies
I agree, there's so much click bait now, it's becoming the boy that cried wolf.
When was the last time they didn’t rely on the Axe FX?
Wow it sounded like the justice and for all for a sec 💀

It's the natural reverb from the room they are in.
Not Delay, Reverb.
