You really buy most of the laptops. You Work hard for ur content, and i respect that
Thanks, appreciate that! Yes, last year I spent about $26k on laptops. In the 3 years I have been doing my channel I have bought 13 Dell laptops and I told them I won't buy them anymore- they need to start sending me review units. Fortunately I work full time too because You Tube pays very little.
I love hp pavilion because it light up and I'm getting one for Christmas
Great, I am sure you will love it Eric !
@@OWNORDISOWN thx
Same me too
Same
its almost christmas bro
I bought the previous model for my 12 year old son as his first gaming laptop. Got the i5 8300, 8gb ram, and 1050ti on sale for $600 brand new. Spent $50 to swap out the included 1tb HDD for a much faster (and quieter) 500gb Crucial SSD and this thing is a perfect budget gaming laptop. The light weight and clean design make this much nicer to travel with than my Alienware 15r3 (granted it's got much higher specs).
Highly recommend this laptop for the price, especially if you can get it on sale. Decent amount of HP bloatware to remove, but not a big deal. Main gripe is that most of the ports are on the right side, including the charger. I prefer ports on the back so cords don't get in the way when using a mouse.
Good move on the SSD, yes - the optane memory and that 5400 rpm hard drive drove me nuts !
This series is GREAT! The budget gaming laptops segment ($500-$800 USD) is not only finally formidable in terms of performance, but they are less conspicuous than the "official" gaming laptops. PLEASE keep this series up. It's what attracted me, and I suspect, many others to your channel. It would be great to see the competition from MSI, Dell, Acer, ASUS, etc. as they release their 2019 models as well. Keep up the good work! And, it might be worth doing a longer shootout between all of them if you manage to gather them all together at once.
Thanks, really appreciate it ! Yes, indeed the budget segment has a larger audience so I do plan on doing more of them. I will still be doing mid range and higher end stuff too as I personally enjoy those. Thanks for watching my channel :)
this model is so much better than the previous one. i thought the fans might be running pretty low, like the last year's, but, literally I rendered an animation, and when I finished it went down from 81 degrees to 75 degrees(C) in 5 SECONDS!!!!! LITERALLY 5 SECONDS!! IM NOT EVEN KIDDING. THIS YEARS MODEL IS PRETTY GOOD. (un-hyping down XD) if you're concerned about the cooling, it's now a very good choice. i love it.
I bought the gtx 1050 4gb version and it works great when I installed the 8gb ram on it and make it dual channel . The green black color of laptop looks gorgeous. I really recommend this laptop 😘😘☺️☺️😊
Good move on the dual channel RAM :) I just uploaded the review on the GTX 1650 one and I do like it too

This is a good laptop. My friend got the i7+ gtx 1660ti one. He seems to be happy with it. Great vid as always man!
Thanks mate! I was pleasantly surprised to see the CPU temp better than my last one. Let's see how it gets on in some games 😀
@@OWNORDISOWN I think the only thing bad about this laptop is its packaging. HP package their laptops like it was a milk shake maker lol. Ima wait for the full review tho man! Undervolt this thing and see how low the temps get under stress test XD

Your work is highly appreciated.
3:29 Actually the keys are transparent green and they're painted black on the top of the keys, you would find that out by removing the keys (although I would be careful with them because they are more fragile than they should). Also there's green backlights.

ACER NITRO 5 IS BETTER BRO
Gotta say I love this little laptop plays my games just fine

@@OWNORDISOWN Also agree! You don't need to drop $1000 for a fancy rig because you can just upgrade yourself later on. Sure a lot of us aren't PC nerds but its not that hard to replace ram. Giggity
Thanks for uploading this video sir.
Anytime 👍 I confirm thermals are fine. I have done my game testing.
Eagerly waiting for this test, as I do consider buying a HP 2019 notebook.
Heard about the 17 inch model that the fans are really quiet, how will it be on this smaller model?
Also, the backplate which covers the heatpipes is easily removable on this laptop (4 screws).
Could you maybe include that in your review?
Removed backplate+Cooling Pad, how much lower do the temperatures then get?
Really great Channel btw, you always talk about the most important stuff that gamers have in mind.
Thanks Andre ! When you say back plate are you referring to the plate above each fan ? I will start some game testing tomorrow :)
@@OWNORDISOWN On 4:05 you can see the trapeze shape of that plastic thing that covers the the fans and heatpipes. It has "Pavillion" printed on it.
Taking a better look at it, I dont know if its even possible to remove it. Maybe you can give me some information on that?:D
@@andremayweather8942 Hi Andre, that doesn't come off. That is an integral part of the rear panel. It's slightly raised so as to allow air to be sucked in.
@@OWNORDISOWN Thx very much!
Do you have any advice how to keep a gaming laptop cooler?
On one video I saw that you limited the CPU boost to 3.3GHz and slightly reduced the voltage. Have to try that too.
Is there anything else someone can do?
Would enabeling Vsync help? If lets say 300FPS get reduced to 60, would it make a difference in temperatures?
You can lower the short and long term power max in Throttlestop - the short term power is what watts the CPU uses to boost up to initially. Its held there for the duration set in the turbo time limit then drops down in power to the long power max. Reducing those should reduce power and hence thermals.
Thanks for another interesting video, looking forward to full review. Another publication stated the 17 inch version of this one as VERY quiet during gaming, how is this 15 inch version?
The 15" is very quiet too, but cooling is good. I have no thermal issues at all😀
Using that exact laptop to watch this video. Really good laptop. I was very satisfied with my purchase.
People always complain about the single 8gb stick but never realize it's easier to just save up a bit and buy another 8gb stick, when if you had 2x4gb you'd have to upgrade both sticks. 🤷♂️
You forgot to review about the display quality, sir. How % is color gamut (srgb/ntsc/argb) how about the viewing angle, brightness. But overall i like the way you presented here 👍
Thanks, this was the first look. I will be covering all the display metrics in my review so stay tuned 👍
@@OWNORDISOWN thx for feedback ! Subscribed you 👍 hope you can make a comparison of hp pavilion gaming 15 vs acer nitro 5 vs lenovo ideapad l340🙏
Thanks for the sub ! Yes, definitely. I plan on doing a smackdown between the Pavilion and Nitro 5 for sure :)
Yep as I mentioned a little while back, HP hinges are poor and I certainly wouldn't trust them on this. My search for a laptop continues.
Hinges are ok, i guess. Just don't rage quit or open it too enthusiastically and you should be fine
I have the 15-dk0051wm. It is similar to your laptop, but the only difference is that the ssd nvme is different and the GPU (possibly the screen). What is great on this, is that it is a bit easier to teardown and access the touchpad much easier than most laptops that I have known. There's some places that HP does cheap out (like the SSD and wifi card). There's no thunderbolt 3 for these laptops sadly (they're type C only). And you can just undervolt the CPU instead of just downclocking it.
You should be able to downclock it using Throttlestop. Just lower the multipliers...
@@OWNORDISOWN I had used Intel Extreme Utulity program to undedvolt it
@@killertruth186 yeah, that won't allow you to change the multipliers if I recall. Throttlestop will 👍

I honestly don't know what happened with HP. Back in 2008 they made some seriously kick ass laptops. Even my run-of-the-mill pavilion dv6809 WM with an AMD turion II and Nvidia 7150m was a very capable machine. However, my roommate across the hall had a HP hdx18 with an AMD phenom 965 and a GeForce I think 180 m, and that laptop was absolutely beautiful and a powerhouse of its time. And somebody else I knew in college had an HP that was a 21 inch laptop, that thing was a monster.
A 21 inch laptop - that sounds awesome !

That's the same 60 Hz display as on the unit I reviewed. HP Website says 45% NTSC. I measured 42%. sRGB was 60% and Adobe RGB 44%. The 17" model has 72% NTSC. I actually have one to look at.

Do a Gaming Review and how much performance difference is this have with 1060.

Asus Rog
Dell G5
Hp Omen
I think the new Omen 15 is very well built (Hinge design aside). Here is my review ua-cam.com/video/rmEoZKXZ9Wc/v-deo.html
I think the Asus ROG line is very good too, even the plastic models dont have any gaps, but and finish is good.
Can you confirm if the usb-c port really is tb3 and if so, can you see if its 2 or 4 lanes. I only ask because I have seen HP put the lightning bolt logo beside usb-c ports to indicate that they can charge from the port... not that they are tb3. I'd hate for your viewers to buy this and then realize that they can't hookup an external GPU. Keep up the great work!
Yes, I was going to have that confirmed :)
Is there any way to get it from walmart or amazon with the white color option and not that green color?
Unfortunately not. Last gen was green too...
I have one doubt. There are fans in the bottom part of this notebook right? (I think it does), does having a cooling pad throwing air from the bottom actually do something?
Please post the review asap. I really need to buy a laptop within couple of days.TIA
The review will take some time and I need to get the Asus TUF505 out first, but I will be doing a live gaming stream , probably on Twitch (www.twitch.com/ownordisown) later this coming week. I will edit it and upload to UA-cam.

HP Coolsense is preinstalled on all their new laptops (even gaming laptops), having it on all the time even gaming is a bad idea and could end up shortening the life span of your gaming laptop. Because there's only 2 modes (on and off). Because of Coolsense 2.0 which it is a mistake by HP.
