I bought an earlier version of this laptop a couple of years ago on sale for $500. It's got an i5-8300H paired with a 1050ti. The very first thing I did was try to run SotTR. The machine overheated and did a hard shutdown. I think I may have broken something in the process. Ever since that incident, the screen will randomly turn black. The only way to bring it back is to kick the computer into sleep mode. It has slowly getting worse. Now it's to the point that I can't run it for more that half an hour before it will do it. Oddly, it has no issues running on an external monitor, which now is the only way I can run it reliably. This has effectively turned my so-so "gaming" laptop into a not-that-great desktop machine.

Now, your review was only short term. I used to have a very similar laptop. It was an hp pavilion with a 1050ti and an 8th gen i5. I only had it for a year, before I had to get rid of it. It had WAAAY too many issues. It overheated, under performed, and had a ton of pre-installed hp programs that heavily altered the speed of the overall device (which was unable to be uninstalled). Plus the hinge wore down over the course of the year. Buyer beware

Another good option at a similar price is the Asus TUF F15/A15. I went for the F15 (Intel). It is a hundred dollars more than the HP at MSRP, but you can usually find a really good sale on it! i5-10300H, 1650ti, 8gb RAM, and 512gb SSD. I have this laptop and I paid $490 after tax. If you dont install an extra 8gb stick of ram to have 16gb and an extra ssd hard drive you wont have a very good experience. The gtx 1650 performs fine at medium/low settings on triple A games but some tittles just dont play well. Would I recommend this laptop? yes but not over $500. For around $800 you can get the gateway creator series laptop with a i5 10300h and RTX 2060 which will perform much better.
Can you make a video of the best 16 gig ram kits for this laptop and how to install them. I'm thinking of getting the 2021 version of this laptop but idk how to install the ram I'm still a noob
Do your research on the exact model you are thinking about, there are several versions of this laptop. I got mine back in November 2020 and my version had an 8 gig stick already in it so I only had to spend $40 on a single 8 gig stick. There will probably be at least two versions anywhere you go, one with an intel cpu in it and one with the amd cpu in it. So yea just do your research on exactly what it is you are getting with the specific model that you are looking at potentially buying.

Sadly for me, I am right-handed and I do not want my mouse to compete for space with the cables and I do not want my hand to be heat-dried all day by the hot air.
I have this laptop, updated RAM and added a 1TB SATA SSD. One thing I think everyone should know it how to remove HP touchpoint analytics. Its basically HP's analytic software (spyware) that you probably do not want running. HP's support page has a way to remove it from installed apps, however it is now located in system32 hidden in with the drivers. What I found was to stop the service, disable it, then open file location from task manager, take ownership of the file from system32 and delete the .exe. After doing that there is a config file that tells it to pull from windows updates so it reinstalls on windows update, I just deleted that config file and it has yet to come back. Hope this helps, for $624 (when I bought it) its a good laptop. I had the 500GB NVME model, but its the same laptop except that one difference.

It is a known issue. They even made a video on how to solve it, my hp did It for a while and the video solved it for me. It was a BIOS problem and a Windows update revision which killed the screen in my case. Try watching it if you haven't ua-cam.com/video/sj6kYmT7GLs/v-deo.html
Me: Sees affordable gaming laptop
Also me: Just 150 dollars in my bank account
Now, your review was only short term. I used to have a very similar laptop. It was an hp pavilion with a 1050ti and an 8th gen i5. I only had it for a year, before I had to get rid of it. It had WAAAY too many issues. It overheated, under performed, and had a ton of pre-installed hp programs that heavily altered the speed of the overall device (which was unable to be uninstalled). Plus the hinge wore down over the course of the year. Buyer beware

Thank you for increasing the price
Can you do a review on Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3? Please & thank you.
Yes, agreed
I recommend having the laptop plugged in most of the time if you want better performance.
Battery drains too fast

I’ve seen this at Walmart at least 5 times
Hey guys, rocking an Asus TUF F15 with a GTX 1650ti....its rather close to 60fps on cyberpunk on preset lows with large density for peds. dang 1650s are really neat when you dont care about lenseflares lol. Neat review by the way.
There’s a hp pavilion desktop with a 1660 ti for $750 I think you guys should review
hp 690-0073w
I remember seeing a 800$ laptop with a rtx 2060 at walmart. Pretty cool.
@@Gloria-h9o i must know which one please
@@c2chris889 I think it’s the gateway creator series 15.6 inch in Walmart
Another good option at a similar price is the Asus TUF F15/A15. I went for the F15 (Intel). It is a hundred dollars more than the HP at MSRP, but you can usually find a really good sale on it! i5-10300H, 1650ti, 8gb RAM, and 512gb SSD. Gave it a ram upgrade and for a sub 800 dollar laptop after the sale I got and ram upgrade it performs pretty well! (80 fps for newer games like Cold War on high settings)
MY EYES THE FPS IS TO HIGH AND SMOOTH FOR ME TO HANDLE, but it feels nice 👍
You bought it?
@@crimsoncomet2209 no, But I only said that because I’ve only been playing on console my whole life.

For $800? Just get a different laptop like a Lenovo Legion 5. Or just wait till this laptop is on sale on Black Friday, usually $450-500
I was able to buy a gaming laptop with a 1650 ti, and i5 10th Gen, 8 GB of RAM and with a 144hz display. the only downside is the battery isnt download. All for about the price

I recently bought this. I personally love it.
Do you have yours overclocked?
@@matthewryan9238 i have the same laptop but i suggest not overclocking. Its better to let it live also i dontn think that the cooling would sustain such high temps
Can it run Minecraft: Java Edition? And is there a way to take the debug panel off the top left of the screen like they were showing in the video?
@@crruptwrld of course it can run a game like Minecraft, isn’t like Minecraft is a demanding game. And yes.

would this laptop be able to play games such as rocket league, plants vs zombies garden warfare, and Minecraft well? im working on saving up for a computer and I just wanted to ask

@@LagunaFox ok thank you I'll just keep looking. Idk anything about pcs lol
Just got this for Christmas and it wasn’t a mistake.
Not really. I’m just glad to get a good upgrade from what I had before.
I highly recommend hp pavilion laptops. My friend and I bought two of those and they are great.

Hey Toasty Bro's! My laptop isnt using my GTX 1650 and is stuck using the IGPU. I've done everything and at 5:36 of the video you said to 'reinstall windows', im really desperate to know how to do that. Still waiting for the Helios 300 2060rtx to drop to 1k again.
Thought about getting the HP, but the tech bug bit me and I wanted more.
@UCz-PE2xCjjcTDMNFXsbXiNA 3060 for a desktop build or laptop build?
If the mobile 3060 is around the price of a 2060 then I might get the 3060 if the Helios 300 stays at the regular price of 1.2k. But if I see the 2060 Helios drop to 1k then I'll get that because I could use the extra 200 for a 2TB nvme SSD.

I just won this laptop with the same specs used for $426 on my first bid ever from ebay auction. Did I hit a deal? How much life expectancy can I expect before the unit is drastically outdated?
Left-handed people must be happy that so many good laptops nowdays have majority of the ports or even air vents (yes, I am looking at you Acer Aspire 7 and Lenovo Ideapad 3/5) on the right side.
Sadly for me, I am right-handed and I do not want my mouse to compete for space with the cables and I do not want my hand to be heat-dried all day by the hot air.
A butterfly knife for a box opener
Just went to Best Buy and the cost is now $999.99
