And it was so fast it took like 2 minutes for him to do it but when I had my second daughter 5 months ago..😖.. worst experience of my life. She couldn’t find the right spot in between my spine it took her a good 10 minutes to find it I just kept feeling her move that needle around my spine to get In between and I could hear the noise of the needle against my bone or whatever it was grinding on. It hurt sooo bad I started hyperventilating. The nurse holding on to me bless her soul she was like you have to get your breathing together cause I was breathing so hard and fast im like I can’t I can’t breath and she was like what can I do to help im like im sweating from hyperventilating so she took the warm towel off my neck cause it was freezing in there when I first came in. She helped calm me down. Thank you nurse Kim!!

I had my third baby yesterday. I was mortified about the spinal block more than the c section itself. I had it done before and I thought I was prepared but no..... it hurt. It hurt a lot that I couldn't stop shaking and it took the anesthesiologist 15 more minutes and two extra pinches to get it done right on me. Christ. I'm glad this was my last child. Just the spinal block alone makes me not want to have children anymore. I'm scared for life.
Im way more afraid of the surgery itself. I mean i burn off anesthesia, and then felt the spinal quite a bit, so that was terrible. But i kept shaking bad during surgery. It was so tense and slow
Yes same me also was my second child it hurts so bad the whole thing burned for the spinal block the anesthesia that thing burn so bad I was dropping f-bombs and I could still feel and then like we have to stop moving and then like you guys are putting stuff down my spine and it burns
I had a epidural during my labor with my daughter, I don't know if it wasn't so bad for me because I was already going through pretty bad contractions ? I may have to have minor surgery with a spinal block. I'm wondering if it will be the same? I remember theres a pinch for the local then some stinging and pressure when they insert the catheter. It wasn't to bad at all , I was even saying to my husband I don't know why I was afraid. I know a spinal block doesn't have a catheter but I'm hoping the discomfort is pretty much the same if i do get it. Has anyone have had both ? Are they pretty much the same?
I am THE biggest baby but had an epidural and then spinal block when it turned out I needed an emergency c section. I dreaded the idea of getting a needle in my spine but it honestly didn't hurt very much. I had a weird nerve twitch when they did it that made my body jolt, but it wasn't painful. Just weird. 27 weeks now with my second. You've got this, ladies!!! You are warriors!
I just heard of spinal block now. I didn’t even know what I had before I just know what I had for my spine was epidural. Is spinal block and epidural same? And 1 process only which is for the spine?
really??!!! i am scared to hell aftrr reading ur comment. how can i get through it😥😭😭😭? i dont know yet how i will deliver... my due date is 30th of August
I can't even start to imagine what labor pains feel like -I sometimes can't even handle the cramps while I'm on my period. It's not that I'm frightened of needles, it's just the thought of having something driven through my spine that freaks the daylights out of me! =S Hope you all are in great health =)
Just had my c section on May 23rd and that spinal tap sucked. It failed and wouldn’t work on me so I had to be put under but not until they tried jabbing the needle in my back a good 6 times. I have a baseball sized bruise on my back from the stupid spinal fail. By far the worst part and it was my most feared part of the procedure. Postpartum wise my back was in so much pain I barley felt my incision pain, the back made walking unbearable. It was all worth it though I got my baby girl in the end.
I'm afraid to have my second one because of the spinal block. First time was so scary bc I moved (not on purpose, it was kind of a "reaction" when I felt the needle/poke).
Awe you say that now, but when we had our son, we had an emergency c-section, he was not only early but he was sideways! So we couldn't go natural he wouldn't drop at all. HONESTLY, our next baby will be a c-section again, I couldn't handle the labor pains! I swear you won't even care about the needle when you go in labor- I am deathly frightened of needles, when blood would be withdrawn I'd get sick and or pass out. - Samantha
rukia758 no it doesn’t hurt it just the fact that supposedly you can get paralyzed from it but it’s rare, you have to be very very still! Especially that the room is very cold and you have to bend in a certain way, or at least I had to..
@@Victoriagomez21. Thank you.i was worried that the injection would hurt since i am super afraid of needles. i am due by end of August.I hope everything goes well.
My spinal didn't hurt, it just felt weird and I could feel every time it hit the nerve but it was more of a numbing feel. I did shake when it was wearing off and my face was extremely itchy but those are normal side effects. When I got my epidural I didnt feel that one at all. Im wondering why a lot of you had pain.
When what hit the nerve? The needle hit the nerve? Just wondering how can that feel numbing because when ever i get my blood drown and they hit a nerve it is excrutiating ( i have small and deep veins). Wouldn't you feel an even greater pain?
Does this hurt worse than tha epidural ? 😭 i got tha epidural wit my first n ended up havin an emergency c section . I’m due n August n couldn’t b more terrified 😫
I had a unplanned c sec , i was on labour pain and didnt feel anythng for epi everything went on so quick that i was in tears to see my baby after all those pains

So with my 1st child a year ago I got this and didn’t feel a thing , I guess that’s because I had been in mag and etc the day before then had to have an emergency c -section the next day so it was a lot going on but now that I’ve experienced a full pregnancy I have 5 weeks left and I’m scared lol i could be exaggerating
@@nithyashree7637 *Had 2 spinal blocks & no back pain after day 3.* Keep in mind, i am young (< 25): walking the next day & healthy throughout pregnancy. So it really depends
Wow this was years ago but just seeing it now cause i just got unplanned C section first time and its my 4rth baby. Previous ones are all NSD no epidurals etc.. so didnt think i will be getting C sec this time.. Baby had arrest of descent and LGA, labored and tried pushing for 1 whole day without progress. Next day no choice but C sec. First they put epidural, then to the spinal block. It didnt hurt and it wasnt bad like how i imagined it. Baby was out in minutes and Am i so glad im over with. After Csec though i felt like an elephant with edematous heavy feet and swollen belly. Closing baby factory this time😄.
It need not burn. There are several things that can be done to minimize the the burn. The itching was from a drug that was injected into the spinal canal along with the local anesthetic to help with pain postoperatively. Most likely, Duramorph .....morphine.
im trans ftm and getting this just to get endo/uterine biopsy done so i can have a hystorectomy after. im glad my dr agreed to let me do this at an outpatient. cant imagine doing it without any proper anesthetic mesures.
Now I had 3 sections first 1 had a easy epidural last 2 kids they said they had to be a spinal done witch stil 2l this day I still don't understand why
That is the worst part of a c-section... Also sucks when they strap your arms down on the operating table. When I had my last daughter I think they got my spinal a tad high because I felt like I couldn't breathe the whole time. The dr kept saying "Ms. Crowe I can assure you that you ARE breathing... If you can speak, you're breathing lol.
I got picked 6 times and was very sore after everything, I’m 5 months postpartum and I have this pain shooting down my left side and kinda by my hip area. It start where the injection was. When I yawn something spasms there and it hurts like hell. Anyone else have similar experience?
YES! IT DOES! I had my daughter in 2015 and sometimes still feel back pain. I'm gonna have another c section this year August 2020 and I'm scare of this process. With my first I didn't feel much because I was having contractions but ppl say it hurts. Will see anyways labor pain is worse than this injection it just last a few minutes. Hope this helps I'm just being honest base on my experience but everyone is different.
Exactly how many injections are suppose to be instead in spine?....I feel like they screw my back worse I might even file for law suit...I should had stick to memorial Herman hospitals
Just curious were did you get your c section? I had my first on memorial herman and everything went well but I'm looking forward to tie my tubes and they don't do it there so don't know about going to another hospital.
First time i was nervous and it didnt wear off for hours. Second time it was like no big deal and it wore off an hr after surgery was done. 3 rd time seriously like no big deal wore off an hr after surgery. But i did vomit alot for several hrs
Watching this makes my back hurt and sick to my stomach. Having a spinal block has been the worst experience of my life. My doctor assured me it would be better than the epidural omg no she was so wrong!! My back has never been the same and I had it done 12 years ago next month.
Forgot to add the injection spot from the spinal still bothers me. I absolutely can not stand for it to be touched. It's not exactly painful but it's an extremely uncomfortable feeling.
@@nithyashree7637 I do. It has gotten better with weight loss and exercise but there are some days for no reason it will hurt. Won't be able to move a certain way or bend down. Sometimes popping my back helps and sometimes it makes it worse it's a gamble. I don't have insurance so I haven't been back to the doctor since my 6 week check up after having my son 12 years ago. I recently found out both my parents have spinal dics that are bothering them so maybe mine is genetics and it just happened to start up same time I had my 1st baby idk but it got a lot worse with the 2nd. I wish I knew what causes it.
Is it giving medicine in your spine first to numb it then no if you don't get any medicine to numb your spine and they just put the catheter that burns and hurts so bad it just depends when anesthesia wants to do to you
@@slumberpartybard6355 you'll be okay 👌 it's just feels weird when they do the spinal block ...the next day is what kills you they force you to get up so you don't get blood clots on your legs .

That's weird when I had my son and had an epidural I thought felt cool and then for the C-section I also thought it felt really cool even though the first anesthesiologist had a hard time doing it and then had to call in a second one so I got poked total of three times I didn't mind it at all guess I'm weird

I had the epidural with my first and it didnt hurt at all and i have a very low pain tolerence and a bad fear of needles. With this baby i have to have a c-section. Is the spinal block any different then the epidural and does it hurt.
I was in labor for 24 hours with an epidural... getting the epidural was very painful and the emergency C-section was very painful. But I'm pregnant again with my second one and this time I'm getting a planned C-section... I'm terrified that the spinal block is going to hurt along with the second C-section... I'm terrified. does anybody have any good experiences on here they want to share to make me feel better? -Thanks
It is scary when I think about when they did it on me. Even when its planned it's scary. You're never gonna really be prepared to have someone stick a needle in your spine. Scary to think about but mine experince wasn't that bad. Just terrifying to know what they were doing, and how it could go wrong very quickly. I say calm yourself and make sure you trust the people doing it. If you freak out it will go south
Why are you scaring this woman??? It dif not hurt for me. I felt a sting when they injected the contents of the syringe but it was just a moment. The rest was quick and painless. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Hope to have the rest of my children come to the world this way.
I guess it depends on who is going the epidural because the anesthesiologist that did mine I barely felt it. I felt a pinch, some burning and pressure for 2 seconds and it was done. It wasn't nearly as bad. Now I may have to go for minor surgery with a spinal block which is a bit different. I hope its pretty much the same discomfort wise.
Csection number 3 coming up and I dread this part right here and since I’m such a baby, I always ask them to put my catheter in after they do the spinal block because I hate that too 🙄
Had a spinal with my first c section and was not prepared for the after effects at all.Although my labour pains subsided once the needle was in, i was shaking like a leaf for hours after. Think i reacted very badly to it.
I hate the spinal block. Just being bent over is so uncomfortable and then them digging that in ur back hurts and then they not being able to find the spot hurts more and then you get so scared that you start thinking they wont ever find it and then they ask you questions like do it feel it on the right side or left . And im like wtf I literally cannot tell what is what.
After having c section surgery did you suffer from back pain? And how about now? Do you still suffer from it as people say who undergoes c c section will be having back pain for the rest of their life bcz of spinal anasthesia. Is that true?
Maybe somebody have same problem? My c-section was 5 months ago. And now every evening and night i have strong pain in lower back. Also after sleep my legs cant walk good. And i have nausea at day time.

@@ambergreen7471 I ended up giving birth without an epidural. Getting the IV was irritating because the 1st nurse kept trying to put it in and couldn't do it. So another nurse came and put it in my other arm. I had to have Pitocin because I wasn't progressing fast enough and a small episiotomy because I couldn't push the baby out fast enough. So everything was ok. I had the baby I week 37, baby girl. I am still on medication for postpartum depression though; that's been horrible but at least there's medicine for it.

Martine Davis I was out cold for a few hours. I have just had the spinal today with baby 3 and I have to say it is no where near as bad as it looks. @@anonymousone3716 I didn't have a choice my blood platelets were low so if they would have tryed to do the spinal I could have bleed to death sence you cant stop bleeding between bone if it started bleeding there

I'm having my third and last baby Monday. I'm so scared of having to to through this again.
Nadia Cannistraro congrats on your child tho!
Yes same me also was my second child it hurts so bad the whole thing burned for the spinal block the anesthesia that thing burn so bad I was dropping f-bombs and I could still feel and then like we have to stop moving and then like you guys are putting stuff down my spine and it burns
Nadia Cannistraro I legit screamed in agony
*we* are warriors
Does it hurt when the baby kick or move? What did you do for morning sickness?
@@marycraig1461 lmao 😳 plz stop scaring it's not that hard😂
Same the epidural make me shake or something hard to explain. But wasn’t painful.
I just heard of spinal block now. I didn’t even know what I had before I just know what I had for my spine was epidural. Is spinal block and epidural same? And 1 process only which is for the spine?
my spinal block for my csection was pure hell. The pain was unbelievable
really??!!! i am scared to hell aftrr reading ur comment. how can i get through it😥😭😭😭? i dont know yet how i will deliver... my due date is 30th of August
I can't even start to imagine what labor pains feel like -I sometimes can't even handle the cramps while I'm on my period. It's not that I'm frightened of needles, it's just the thought of having something driven through my spine that freaks the daylights out of me! =S
Hope you all are in great health =)
I got contracions and BOY i was acting like a sailor until i got the epidural
Just had my c section on May 23rd and that spinal tap sucked. It failed and wouldn’t work on me so I had to be put under but not until they tried jabbing the needle in my back a good 6 times. I have a baseball sized bruise on my back from the stupid spinal fail. By far the worst part and it was my most feared part of the procedure. Postpartum wise my back was in so much pain I barley felt my incision pain, the back made walking unbearable. It was all worth it though I got my baby girl in the end.
6 times u got the needle in.,thtz too in human.Specislized anesthetic is key to get rid of all this helll back pain.
- Samantha
I'm on my fourth c-section and I'm scared out of my mind every time I hate that part
does it hurt please???
rukia758 no it doesn’t hurt it just the fact that supposedly you can get paralyzed from it but it’s rare, you have to be very very still! Especially that the room is very cold and you have to bend in a certain way, or at least I had to..
@@Victoriagomez21. Thank you.i was worried that the injection would hurt since i am super afraid of needles. i am due by end of August.I hope everything goes well.
rukia758 omg yay I’m excited for you good luck 💕 rest up before baby gets here girl 😩
@@Victoriagomez21.thank you 😘. haha yes!! me and my husband are taking maximum rest 😥😥😆.
Did 3months ago and watching the am saying to my self did I really go through all of that
I finally decided to watch this. I went through this 3 weeks ago.
I had a unplanned c sec , i was on labour pain and didnt feel anythng for epi everything went on so quick that i was in tears to see my baby after all those pains
What is that brown liquid which she has applied on back
I had to have 2! Didn't hurt a bit 😊😊
Do you have back pain now?
With my first, I had an actual spinal block. One shot good to go, I didn't feel much of it. The second c section I had the spinal catheter and that shit hurt. It was not fun. I have a c section tomorrow morning, spinal block thank god, and I am terrified. 🙃😭
I had one on the 24th of January 2023 when i had my daughter i was nervous but i did it and im glad i did and to be awake to have my daughter
is that L3-L4 space?
I can speak for myself, yes the spinal block hurt! but after everything is done then I was good.
How bad? I'm so scared
Do you suffer from back pain now means after having c section?
@@nithyashree7637 *Had 2 spinal blocks & no back pain after day 3.* Keep in mind, i am young (< 25): walking the next day & healthy throughout pregnancy. So it really depends

Nithya Shree Only occasionally when I exert myself too much like standing for hours and working non stop. And it’s mild imo.
Is 10.8 level of hemoglobin is ok for c section... please let me know...
Mine hurt, it was a huge pitch and a burn. And my whole body was super itchy for days!
Iv had 4 didn’t really hurt the back pain now hurts more
I had my csection a month ago and was poked 4 times os that normal ?
That is the worst part of a c-section... Also sucks when they strap your arms down on the operating table. When I had my last daughter I think they got my spinal a tad high because I felt like I couldn't breathe the whole time. The dr kept saying "Ms. Crowe I can assure you that you ARE breathing... If you can speak, you're breathing lol.
Same here with my second procedure I feel like I couldn't breathe and he kept saying if "I can speak I can breathe"

I got picked 6 times and was very sore after everything, I’m 5 months postpartum and I have this pain shooting down my left side and kinda by my hip area. It start where the injection was. When I yawn something spasms there and it hurts like hell. Anyone else have similar experience?
women are amazing
Any body pls tell me this injunction giving backpain?
YES!
I had a spinal(not for csec) and it hurt. When you're numb its definitely a scary shock to the system. Worst experience ever
What did u feel???
Watching this makes my back hurt and sick to my stomach. Having a spinal block has been the worst experience of my life. My doctor assured me it would be better than the epidural omg no she was so wrong!! My back has never been the same and I had it done 12 years ago next month.
Forgot to add the injection spot from the spinal still bothers me. I absolutely can not stand for it to be touched. It's not exactly painful but it's an extremely uncomfortable feeling.
@@Smoke_and_Bones you still suffer from back pain.? I had my c section two months back
@@nithyashree7637 I do.
I had 3 when I had my son it didn’t hurt AT ALL . Not even kidding
Does the iv and the spinal blpck hurt
Is it giving medicine in your spine first to numb it then no if you don't get any medicine to numb your spine and they just put the catheter that burns and hurts so bad it just depends when anesthesia wants to do to you
Well, It didn't hurt me at all and I don't suffer from back pain either
Got mine too late . Babys head was too low , pressing on the spine, and it didnt work !
It took him 4 try’s 😒 on mine hurt so bad

Just don't move while they are doing this procedure. You will be fine.
Alll i gotta say is that hurts like helll!!!!! And that’s is one of the main reasons I won’t have another child !
That's weird when I had my son and had an epidural I thought felt cool and then for the C-section I also thought it felt really cool even though the first anesthesiologist had a hard time doing it and then had to call in a second one so I got poked total of three times I didn't mind it at all guess I'm weird
Omg that musthave been painful

Spinal is hurting less than wrong iv.
That is saying a lot.

As you feel the pinch it is over.

Maybe this looks scary but it's not even painful like normal injection!!
I had the epidural with my first and it didnt hurt at all and i have a very low pain tolerence and a bad fear of needles. With this baby i have to have a c-section. Is the spinal block any different then the epidural and does it hurt.
16angellove Its not bad, it doesn't hurt.
The way I screamed and hollered
It hurts like hell! I literally cried from my experiences and I'm with my third, also another c section.
And im like wtf
I literally cannot tell what is what.
How do you stay still?
Ashley Hold... you just do...
knowing if you move...you could be paralyzed for life..
This is the uncomfortable scary part for me besides the actual c section and I've had two c sections and having my 3rd in two weeks 😖

Same! How are you now?
@@ambergreen7471 I ended up giving birth without an epidural. Getting the IV was irritating because the 1st nurse kept trying to put it in and couldn't do it. So another nurse came and put it in my other arm. I had to have Pitocin because I wasn't progressing fast enough and a small episiotomy because I couldn't push the baby out fast enough. So everything was ok. I had the baby I week 37, baby girl. I am still on medication for postpartum depression though; that's been horrible but at least there's medicine for it.

It is a spinal block. There is a difference.

Martine Davis I was out cold for a few hours. I have just had the spinal today with baby 3 and I have to say it is no where near as bad as it looks.
