I am 100% Chinese pure blood but I know how to say 5 words in Japanese, so I'm pretty much Japanese. As a Japanese person, I can tell you that this is a completely authentic recipe.
Loving to see you expanding your recipes to include different ethnic foods and vegan foods! Please do more as I think all your fans will really appreciate all your efforts to try different things especially if it's something new to them too! Hope Big Lee is good too and enjoying the new cuisines you're adventuring into 💖
Hey Kay, just a tip: you need to keep whisking for a lot longer than you usually do if you want peaks. This recipe is meant to be as fluffy as the cloud eggs you've done but in pancake form. This was sadly just a regular pancake
Where can I get some of those orange bowls Kay? Every time I see them it reminds me of my favourite "Full English Breakfast" video and I get so hungry. I'd love some in my kitchen. Also, I've been to Japan and can confirm this is exactly what they taste like- Pancakes.
Don't be scared of rice, once you know the technique, it always turns out right. Do you want a simple technique for making rice perfect? I promise, as a person of middle eastern background I felt so dumb when it always came out wrong, until my Asian housemate showed me how his mum taught him, and it's never failed me since!
Souffle Pancakes require a circular mold and has to be cooked at a slightly lower heat and it has to have a bit of water on the pan along with a lid to allow a bit of steam to allow the pancake to fluff up. Aside from that the batter was solid.
Hi Kay, absolute delight watching this, will be trying it soon! Now I don't agree with the french but they're on to something with their french bread. Could you give that a go?
I think they get them so high by containing the batter in cookie cutter type things as they cook because if you just pour it into the pan it spreads out everywhere so just a normal pancake.
It was fun to see you take on soufflé pancakes! I think they may have turned out more fluffy if the egg whites were whisked into stiff peaks (this was maybe three quarters there) and if the flour was only folded in (also, I recommend mixing the baking powder with the flour, adding it beforehand means it loses some of its effect). Please keep trying out interesting new recipes!
i recomend you to search a recipe in youtube and follow the steps strictly at the same time that you cook, but the pancake locked amazing, good job kay
Kay! Looks great! You say you don't enjoy sweet things.... I'm intrigued, what's your favourite type of food? Or rather your favourite/ideal meal? ☺️❤️ Lots of love from Wales! Xxxx
Oh my god I was watching this hoping the bowl wouldn't fly away off the top of the bench lol as it was getting pretty wobbly, and sorry to say that is nothing like a Japanese souffle pancake. Maybe try again next time :)
I think the peaks needed to be more stiff. I would also try lightly mixing or folding in the ingredients after the egg whites & sugar. Either way, it looks delicious. 👍
Always says "and now for the taste test" with an overwhelming aura of dread! Great to see confidence in your work kay 😃 well done kay lookses just like pancake 10/10 xx
I have never seen pancakes made like this before, it's right fancy, like a pancake on steroids or tea or something. I bet it would be good with butter and jam, or since it's Japanese something Japanese like Sauerkraut and puffer fish sushi or something like that. Thumbs up.
Kay, for Lee's sake - please make a chicken parma! he's going to love it, you're going to love it and it'll be a simple meal for you two. So lovely! Hope you're having an amazing 2022!😜
Hi Kay, if you want you could try mixing the yolks with the milk, three spoons of flour and baking powder. And beat the egg whites separately from the other mix, add the sugar and please don't stop until you see the peaks. Then put that into the egg yolk mix carefully, until you see all the mix like light yellow without any white part. Please do it with a spoon or something, but not with the machine or is going to loose its fluffyness. You should use a piping bag to give it consistency and form. It's difficult that part but you can watch videos to guide you while you're cooking, I wish you the best! Keep at it 💜
