Man I only had the privilege of doing that one time when I was stationed in Alaska absolutely one of the most special places ever! Even had a bald eagle land and steal one of my fish on the bank!
I got to experience the sockeye salmon run last year. It was my first time going to Alaska and we stayed in a cabin on the Kenai River. It was a blast fighting those beasts on a baitcaster!!
That was crazy! I wonder if you could get some really interesting/unique underwater video footage by using an underwater camera through there with a float.
Kenai river had a huge late run this year nearly a million fish so far when last year there was 300-400k at this time of year. Went and flipped hooked a flip every 2-3 flips and limited in an hour or two (didn’t fish very long I’ve that 2 hours)
How long will you guys be in AK? I’m coming the 2nd week of August, and would love to shake hands with you guys. Do you think the sockeyes will still be running? I reached out to Hunter yesterday, now I’m just waiting for a response 🤞🏼
Definitely foul hooking fish just like everyone else! Usually those don't make the cut for the videos. Just a quick unhook and a wave goodbye. Check out 12:22 in the video

We are fortunate that the Kenai still supports healthy runs of reds (sockeye). This is even though the the fabled Kenai Kings are essentially gone. Exploiting the magnificent resources of Alaska whether it be fur, fish, lumber, oil, or gold, historically, is what most people associate with this state. It is somewhat painful to see this still happening. Extraction of resources without understanding what it means to be Alaskan. And having no personal investment or respect for them. Only, how much can we get?
