Forging a KATANA out of Rusted Iron CABLE

- Fine, this Katana took me endless time to make and this was not easy to make it such perfect. A lot of Viewers asked me to make Katana so i tried to make most perfect Katana Sword that i can.
Overall Sword Length : 35 Inches
Handle Length : 8 Inches
Blade Length : 26 Inches
Some of the Processes of making this beautiful KATANA:
Forging:
It took me almost five days to prepare and hand forge Iron Cable piece into a long Metal Strip and this was one of my most complicated forging ever. I don't have any power hammers so all the forging as well as welding i did with hands and turned a cable piece into an almost 34 - 35 inches curved steel strip.
Grinding:
I make some rough grindings of curved strip on my new Belt sander and turned the strip into a well shaped steel Katana workpiece. I also hand sanded all the edges of the sword with help of flat file to remove almost all the roughness.
v. I made the blade bevel with a help of flat file.
v. The Blood Groove was made by my professional angle grinder.
v. Sanded the blade to remove roughness.
Hardness:
There is few professional ways to harden a Katana and one of them is (Insulation) Covering all the sword in Heat-Resistant clay exept blade edge. After that we heat it into the fire to critical temperature. We use water to quench only the Bevel part of the heated sword. Now the bevel is hard and remaining sword is more soft. Best way to increase Strength, Toughness and Hardness of the sword is tempering.
Habaki:
This is wedge shaped metal piece traditionally made by forging some brass or copper but also we can make it by using thick brass sheet. And it is used to support the Handle fittings below.
Handle:
Handle consists of four parts.
v. GUARD: The purpose of the guard (Tsuba) is hand protection and balancing of the sword. I made it by casting brass metal and turned into a beautiful piece which separates the handle and the sword.
v. Kashira: Kashira is a roundly turned brass piece which caps the end of the handle.
v. Spacer: This is thin little piece which fits on tang and seals all the handle parts so everything is securely fixed.
v. Wood: Any light wood covered with soft leather uses as a handle of the sword, this can be wrapped with a cotton strips.

👍Perfect!
Love the blade just one nit pick. I wish you would have maintained the 90degree edge on the spine of the katana in order to better catch blades and be a stronger impact point to bludgeon.
Is that for sale?

Can we pause for a moment an appreciate that God damn impeccably straight line he drew free hand?
Imagine how these were done in the old days without power tools. Just hammers and Sharpening Stones.
Got to be one of the best katana-making video! Amazing and ingenious metal art!
Its nice to watch people making decorative stuff. It always makes me smile when i see someone making a less harmfull version of an actual weapon.
youre correct, funny and toxic all at once
@@trankked6672 tho its not toxic. Katana is not without a reason forged way different. This is simply something i like to call "american katana". Its not just slapping some clay along a forged and grinded blade. There is much more to it and manydifferent styles for a variety of outcomes. I used to blacksmith but never bothered myself with katanas because i knew the only one i can make is american one. To make a propper katana it takes a ton of learning and patience.
First video I’ve watched on your channel. Your skills are as varied as they are incredibly honed. Kudos to you for having followed/pursued a dream/love of something and attaining such a masterful set of skills.
This Katana is a particularly beautiful piece.
It’s plain see how much time and effort goes towards the creation of something that, at its completion, looks SO good!
Your ability to swing the katana is impeccable to say the least. The fact you hear the "whoosh" means you're swinging perfectly straight. You have tons of power in it too, just look at the control at 5:45. That spin is no joke.
Although there are many differences from the secrets of making katanas by existing craftsmen, I would like to say that an ordinary lump of scrap metal was able to be reborn into a famous sword because of the creator's accumulated secrets😇Thank you for this really touching video☺️
I like your work bro 👍🤩💪
A very lovely, simple, elegant blade
Wire rope is most commonly made out of high carbon, non-alloy (without chromium, magnesium, etc.) steel, so properly heat treated that thing will hold the edge real good with really high hardness factor, and since it was differentially hardened it has high hardness edge and much lower harness spine so if any cracks develop, they won't brake the whole blade in half.
This thing looks BEAUTIFUL, especially the blade!
Good evening Sir. Congratulations on your artistry and persistence. I understand the sweat that contributed to this magnificent blade. Beautiful and strong. There are few men of honor that deserve such a sword. I wish there were more. I pray that the blade brings peace and wisdom to all who face it. Peace, Love, and Charity!
The sewing machine outdoors is my favourite part, loved it hahaha
Lindo trabalho! Parabéns.
I mean this both aesthetically, and quite literally...
That is one sharp sword!
This guy is expert in metal works, carpentry, sewing & editing. Amazing. 👍
I ain't watching 17 parts on tik tok. I'll search it on here and watch 1 part 😂
All very impressive. BUT that straight line after forging the blade was perfection. I could never
You Sir are a Master of all that you do. Respect.
Im satisfied to watch your videos... Lots of love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩keep going
Doy 1000 dólares
I needed a knife for outdoor kitchen work and especially for bushcraft. Amazing craftsmanship! I love the handle, the blade, its sharpness, I love how it weighs, I love the colors and size, and length. Everything! Beautiful work! Thank you so much Almazan Knives for such a great knife.
That katana is amazing! The effort he puts on his builds is incredible and the same goes to the Kunai. This channel really entertaining to watch when I’m bored. It keeps me very entertained!
Una verdadera obra de arte felicitaciones maestro 👏👏👏👍👍👍
This honestly of my best watch making katana from old rusty metal materials it's also one best quality and shape and how it's made im impressed 🤩🤩🤩........ can't wait to see another project in next video keep improving
It would be an honour to see you in action in the show Forged in fire!👌
it really has both lookwise and performancewise. it really is well done
this katana was just right, both the curvature and the shine, mt good guy keep it up making unbelievable things out of scrap, maybe one day I'll even buy it from you
You are not almost perfect....you are fully perfect..

OMG the work that was need to do this sword
Congratulations its pretty good
That was amazing! Awesome workmanship and skills. Beautiful Katana!👊
Absolutely stunning work. 👊🔥👊
I LOVE the peaceful sound of your videos. And your amazing work too obviously
Freaking awesome in so many ways I have a katana and love swords.🗡⚔👍🏾😊
SUBSCRIBED!! This one was very addictive to watch.. I really appreciate the fact that you don’t even have high-tech tools but keep doing such a wonderful sword…
Maybe someday I’ll try it too. respect!
Kepp do it man
If you ever do this again you should turn the outer cable into a twisted damascus pattern. That would be a cool looking blade
Now that's a true gem you made! Great job once again!
ESSE CARA É UM ARTISTA 🤯👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'm always amazed at how you just grab pieces of hot steel!
Bro I’m just amazed how he freehanded that marker
ill be honest never have i seen someone complete a sword with a canister weld using a rusted out pipe and without handling it i cant speak for its balance but all in all she looks beautiful your brass work as always is top notch 8/10 damn good work i just always worry when it comes to steel cable on how clean the welds are.
I know this is two years old, but acid etch your blade. it'll look like a flowing river, the different strands of cable will pop. It's one of my favorite damascus to make.
Damn! You've really got some skills. Props to you! Thanks, for the upload.
Parabéns pelo trabalho ficou perfeita 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
um trabalho belissimo. parabéns!
Despite the unconventional way this was made on pretty certain its probably better than any mastercrafted sword from over 100 years ago
VERY nice, I was originally given the impression you were going to use more of the cable in a cannister and acid etch the final product, but the final result here is still a work of art regardless of my original misconception
I saw you making kataana i was shocked & pretty impressed
I just started watching your videos and I like when I see you are an amazing blacksmith😊
Absolutely incredible Bravo.....
Parabéns vc é um grande mestre nessa arte, meus parabéns 👏👏👏
Those Tsubas look heavy as hell, but overall nice weapons my man 👌😎
This is beautiful
Beautiful job thank you very much for sharing with us you made it look easy
Caterpillar just becomes a butterfly and flies off the sword 😂
stupid ddddddxsaiugqj🦡🦡🦡🦡
The sword is great 🤩🗡️.
This man is so talented and hardworking
It's great nowadays, really good and sharp, thank you🙏🙏🥰👍
Um belo trabalho, parabéns
I bet with an acid etch that blade would have an absolutely stunning pattern.

I love the color you used to make a wrap on the handle. My only other personal colour is blue but red is great.
Hermoso trabajo 👌
Ficou 👍👍👍👍 muito bonita.
If someone ever breaks into your house, they're gonna wish they didn't very quickly
Such abnormal skills, unbelievable great videos
Greetings "APR". I love😍 your job and craftmanship, I have no words for it.
All of your videos are always more than worth it and better than previous.
We know how hard you have worked for this, I hope this comment would motivate 😃you more to make/restore even better things.
Love from India💕💓
Thank you for such positive and nice comment mate, and of course this motivates me to work harder and make new interesting videos :) Also I wish all the Best for India People.

Anime Bleach zangetsu and his Bankia zangetsu
How did the cable weld to the rusty pipe with all the air gaps and outer rust? The Borax flux surely wouldnt have been able to stop occlusions and produce such a prisitine piece of steel?
Heat and pressure. The borax just creates a pocket of gas around the billet.. similar to how the flux.on a arc welding rod works as its burning.. the borax turns into a gas as it melts, and this creates an enviroment around the part being welded , where air cant be..
@@no.step.on.snek.2423
yeah, that makes sense..
I think technically the borax prevents oxygen from touching the metal preventing forge scale...but i dont see how that got rid of the already existing dirts rusts and greases he failed to clean off in prep. Also if he truly made cable Damascus...why not etch to show the pattern?
I love the skill and the time it takes to make them
Biutiful katana.... Plis Making long katana old Bering 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome job as always, beautiful crafted katana!
Real professional!! Good work and even for viewers it gives satisfaction , thanks for the video 🙏✌️
Ancient japanese blacksmiths are frowning down on this.
OH my SWEET SWEET LORD I want your scrap collection.
So .....it's stretching out wire in a steel pipe , sharpen and shine 🤷🏻
All the Japanese Masters must be in total fits of laughter 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
You even called it Katana 😨
@@robinblackman4509 still, it's very high quality, and it looks like one, why laugh at someone's best efforts if they resulted with a good product?
And, don't forget, it's made with scrap metal! So of course it wouldn't be perfect ...
Man! It just a piece of Art. Much Love From 🇧🇩
😶 That 😑 was 🥺 so 😥 _beautiful_ 😭
🥲 Amazing craftsmanship 🥰
Wow, great job! I have a question, wouldn't the rust on the cable prevent a good weld when in the tube and you're making a billet? (I love watching Forged in Fire, lol.)
Anything will forge weld if you hammer it enough or at higher temp but traditionally you don't want to use high temp (or in other words, you want to use the lowest possible temperature) when forge welding for better metallurgical properties such as being able to be ground thinner and edge sharpened at a lower angle. And better quality steel will allow you to do that.
So then the difference between a final product made from substandard material vs high quality is nothing if it's a shelf piece or used for one cut and done. Otherwise it'll reflect clearly upon repeated use/abuse.
@@LightBrand great, thanks for the info!
You won a new subscriber, Big respect 🙌💪🏆
Perfeito!
# Explanatory Brigade : The bend of the blade should appear as a result of zonal hardening.
Very good !!! The cable inside the pipe !
👍😎No matter where it was made or the work process, but in the end it's the person who's skills matter while using one which can't be used without being charged of violence but good craftsman work
