  • Episode 5 of How To Fly FPV is all about how to learn Acro Mode, which is also known as Rate Mode. It's an absence of stabilisation, which gives you an amazing amount of control once you're used to it. Follow along with this tutorial no matter what equipment you have, and whether you're a beginner or pro FPV pilot you might learn something. Let me know what drone you fly and if you're going to give acro a try!
    To get the gear that I'm using try these links:

    ...and if you purchase anything I get a tiny but pleasing commission (you don't pay anymore but it supports this channel).
    What lesson do you want to see next s we progress through this series?

    Guys! Last night I started training acro in Lift Off! First time I thought it s a joke or some error of software or controller settings. Before I realised acro mode racing drones are a different dimension I never believed it exists! Iam so exited like a little kid (iam 53) and cant wait to practice and try manual with my dji fpv! Thanks for the great video Sir!!

    hey there, great video! what can you suggest for someone like me, i got used to flying indoor so much with angle mode. My focus is mainly real estate video walkthrough with nothing to do a lot with flips and other acro moves. Do you still think i need to learn acro mode? Thanks from Dubai!

    • @MagicFPV
      @MagicFPV  9 місяців тому

      I would say that learning acro gives you the ultimate control, even if it’s just smooth indoor flying. If you can do both then you have the option, if you only know how to fly angle then you’re always stuck with that mode

    Thanks for this video as I am awaiting my first fpv drone. Im worried to crash it because its expensive. I own camera drones and I have only flown an fpv drone in self level mode or as you called it angle mode. I was thinking ofnjust starting in acro mode as soon as it come but im now thinking I should just fly it in self level mode first for a few weeks as you mentioned. Also liked the idea of switching into acro while up in the air at a decent height. For this good advice I will subscribe 👍🔔. Godbless from PA 🇺🇸

    Is it normal to have issues in seeing in which direction the drone goes, and how it is tilted in the air, when flying without FPV? So is FPV obligatory to fly accurate? Because i always find it hard to be able to estimte where the drone is, how its tilted, and which direction it flys to (although the front of my drone eachine Racer 250 has got a red "head").

  • @uneekpcs

    @Magic FPV Great video, can you be more specific than 2 weeks being enough before going to Acro. How many hours flying angel before switching cos 2 weeks is different for everyone depending how many battery's they have etc, thanks.

    • @MagicFPV
      @MagicFPV  3 роки тому +1

      Good point. It’s beneficial to switch to acro as soon as possible because if you fly stability mode for too long, you will have to ‘unlearn’ it and it will hold you back in terms of flying ability (because you’ll be continually fighting the gyro). So the simple answer is- switch to ACRO as soon as you dare. Perhaps fly 10-20 batteries in angle mode first so that you get a feel for how the basic controls work and then go for it! Good luck 🤞

    • @george-3412
      @george-3412 3 роки тому +1

      Simply put the two modes have nothing in common related to the needed skills and muscle memory.

    • @pottyputter05
      @pottyputter05 Рік тому

      Ik im way late but to anyone watching this later on, angle is great for a couple batteries to get you past the nerves of flying. They are intimidating as you never get the full "god i dont want this to hit anyone" until you fire up a 5" or larger and notice the props dont break as easy as you imagined 😅😅😅

  • @IaninLondon
    @IaninLondon 3 роки тому

    You make it look so easy! at 1:20 I'm a bit confused tho as when you let go for the stick to recentre, it levels off. As you will see in a the next day or so when I upload my near disastrous attempt at Manual Mode on the DJIFPV, when I let go of the sticks to recentre, it went awol..... anyway, sub'd and hopefully will learn some decent stuff from you! :)

    • @MagicFPV
      @MagicFPV  3 роки тому

      Oh yikes! 😬 haha, I’ll look forward to watching that. So at 1:20 I’m just demonstrating what ‘angle mode’ is, which is basically another term for the self levelling that is built into all DJI drones (and is optional in FPV drones). When you go into ‘Acro Mode’ (manual mode), you are switching the accelerometer off, which means there is no self levelling done by the flight controller! Think of it like stabilisers on a bike 🚴 So if you let go of the stick to re centre - it won’t! It just holds the last position and waits for your next input, which I demonstrated in the video just afterwards. It’s very weird to get your head around at first but actually makes perfect sense and is really amazing once you understand it. Hope the panic button saved you! 🤞

    • @MagicFPV
      @MagicFPV  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah it’s great for flying outdoors, especially for beginners! I used it to teach my boy how to fly... just make sure there’s no wind and it’s a very similar experience to the full size 5 inch. I was using a bigger one to demonstrate in this video but would have been the same with the TinyHawkS

    • @daniel-romero

      @@MagicFPV Thanks for your answer! can you recommend an alternative for beginners that tolerates small amounts of wind?

    • @MagicFPV
      @MagicFPV  3 роки тому +1

      @@daniel-romero you need a lot of power to cope with wind, so it’s hard to recommend something with that in mind. I’d say if you want real world practice to with something like the TinyHawkS, otherwise just get the fully powered 5 inch and practice on a sim a lot before you fly it... hope that helps 🙂

    In acro, your throttle is still just controlling your altitude? How were you accelerating forward? Is it still just right stick forward?

    • @MagicFPV
      @MagicFPV  3 роки тому

      Throttle only control altitude if the drone is completely flat. When you pitch forward it controls altitude AND forward momentum. Try to think of the direction of thrust coming from the propellers... and when throttle is increased all four of the motors boot up equally, so whichever way the top of the drone is pointing, if you increase throttle you will go in that direction.
