I was a contestant on this show. During my audition, I thought the camera man was laughing at me, so I stopped my routine and asked him "Are you laughing at me?" and he said "No" so then I kept singing. This was a fabulous experience for me. I ended up singing "I heard it through the grapevine on the show." Thank you WDIV for the wonderful memory!
WoW! I remember when these auditions were held. I was going to Joy. I remember my Social Studies teacher told me her friend, the famous Phoebe Snow had written the song. She first performed this. ❤
I have thought about this jingle over the years, a positive affirmation during a dark period of the city's life. When it aired, it was quite remarkable. They should hold other auditions again. What say you?
Warms my heart hearing this again after all these years. Wow. Some talent in the 80s.
