I know I’ve said this before on here but it bears repeating. Her 1986 Rapture album is one of the best albums ever made. Not one bad song on the whole album. It’s the kind of album that you just put it on and press play. You don’t have to fast forward or skip a song. It’s a masterpiece sung by the great Anita Baker.

I was able to find all of her albums even including her live tour back in 1987! There are so many of her fans there, and it is a country she might be never visited, but we love her music so much just as everyone else here does!

I was a young professional in my first job in L.A. in the 80's and in walks Anita Baker - nobody knew who she was except me! I had been listening to a radio station, all R&B and knew all her songs from Rapture. I grew up with this genre of music and I knew she was headed for stardom. She was at our building to get some outfits for her upcoming concerts. She had no idea how great she was. It was literally months before her record hit the charts. I got to escort her around a little. She said, "you know my music??". I said I cant believe I am meeting you- they play all your songs on such and such radio station. I knew she was going to be a star. Such a great memory.
I cannot find a single fault in this performance. Sung truly from the heart. Anita Baker is a legend, it's people like her that make me fall in love with soul music.

It was such a pleasure watching this videos as a black man on Russian television in 1989. This clip was often played on Leningrad TV and it really brought to the Soviet Russians what they were missing in black American music. I guess Miss Baker contributed in her own small way to the demise of the USSR!

It was such a pleasure watching this videos as a black man on Russian television in 1989. This clip was often played on Leningrad TV and it really brought to the Soviet Russians what they were missing in black American music. I guess Miss Baker contributed in her own small way to the demise of the USSR!
