Even notice when they want a real singer they get Gladys. Curtis Mayfield wrote Claudine, Gladys sang on soundtrack. We're so lucky to have these two greats. Glad I saved my LP's.
If this doesn't touch your soul - nothing will - what a performer, legendary artist - Gladys Knight and the Pips should be thanked every day for this incredible music!
Happy birthday Ms. Gladys Knight, on your 80th birthday. I am fan of yours since my youth, I am almost 68. God bless you & gives you more years of good health & happiness.
My dad passed away 10 years ago and while he was in his last days I went in the room and told him so many things and thanked him for being the best dad. We both cried. I ran to the store and took his car. When I started the car this song was on. I was crippled. Because neither one of us wanted to say goodbye. It still hurts my heart to listen.
What about the late Great Miss Tammi Terrell, she blows away all of them and what about the Queen of Soul herself Aretha Franklin.... But I also agree with you that Gladys is definitely the BOMB!!! You have great taste sir....
Man I was just watching this and a couple of her songs that she and the pips performed live on the midnight special and thinking similarly like ‘man this woman was incredible’
Gladys Knight singing neither one of us brings me to my childhood days and never ceases to bring me chills with her beautiful voice. She is one of the greatest singers ever and she is truly a beautiful woman
Going to see her in concert tomorrow evening (Aug 12,2022)at Hulu theater at Madison Square Garden...can't wait! Love her and all her work. She is appearing with the O'Jays ("Love Train")...love them too! It's gonna' be fantastic!!
@@cathyarthur3199 Well, I've come and gone from the concert as of this past Friday (Aug.12) and I must say 1) it was sold out (5600 seats) and Gladys was ......there are no words....I simply love her and have loved her as many years as she has been singing. I, like you, have a son who turned 50 a few days ago so we're in sync :) . I sat 8 rows centerstage so the view was impeccable. Gladys still has her pristine "pipes" (voice). She's a little slower but she being in the same age group as (probably us), I understand that. She turned it out though, esp. when she sang "Neither One of Us" (which is my PARTICULAR favorite of them all)...although there isn't one I can name that I don't like. She engaged with the audience so lovingly. The audience went wild..for the O'Jays also. They were great but the lead singer (Eddie Levert) was not there. He was sick with COVID, His replacement did well although it wasn't Eddie who was missed a lot. If you go to UA-cam and search "Gladys Knight Royal Albert Hall-Full Concert..., it is a duplicate of the same concert there (in the U.K.) she did in June2022 as she did here (although I think the one she did here was better 'cause it was in my hometown of N.Y.C and there 'ain't' no fan like a New York fan!! :) . There was so much love for her and The O'Jays. Nice "speaking" to you...stay well!
Love Gladys Knight...from my childhood. I'm now terminal cancer. I cry ...I'm trisha bubbles foundation home for orphan children in kashmir and kaunke amristar punjab India 🇮🇳

When you know you love someone, you've given all you can give. You reach a point to where you have to gather that you have to say goodbye, knowing there's no way there could be a happy ending.
This is a beautiful song but it makes me feel so sad. It reminds me of my parents. They got divorced after 36 years of marriage. They had been together since my mum was 18 and my dad was 23. It was an awful marriage in many ways.....they were constantly fighting and arguing, and for me and my 2 older sisters it was like growing up in a war zone. They tried so many times to make it work......but the happy times never lasted very long. When they went their separate ways my mum was never the same again.....it was like she had lost part of her heart and soul. Sometimes she would listen to this song and she had such a deep sadness in her beautiful green eyes that it was almost palpable. When she died in 1997 my dad left a message on my sister's answerphone......he could hardly talk because he was crying so much. My dad died in 2003. I know that deep down they loved each other very much, and I hope that if they are together now, that finally they have found the happiness that they could never seem to find in this life. Love you mum and dad, with all my heart, xxx
Gladys is and always will be my favorite female vocalist. You really touched my heart with your story. My parents divorced in 1971. When my mother became terminally ill with cancer in 2011 my dad wanted to remarry and take care of her. But too much time had passed between them. I just thank God they were on good terms when she passed on. God bless you.
Thank you so much for your kind words Wanda. I am glad your parents were on good terms when your Mum passed, and yes I agree with you....Gladys Knight is an incredible artist.....she feels every word that she sings. A very talented and lovely lady. God bless you, x

She told me that she had beaten cancer but she knows that one day it could return , we then made friends on Facebook and kept in touch . i discovered that though marriage she was now one of my 2nd cousins as she married my uncles sisters sons, earlier this year my beautiful friend was taken away by cancer and i attended her funeral in the same Crematorium where i held my mothers funeral , it was a very emotional moment one i wouldn't like to experience again. Man! What great lady. She's more than made the most of her God given talents. Nobody sings like Gladys. I love her little 'squeak' when she hits a high note. The way she bends the notes around the lyrics is amazing and she puts her own personal "stamp' on everything she does. While everyone in 'That's what friends are for' are great, Dionne, Stevie, Elton - Gladys is so gorgeous and her phrasing and range - from 'throaty' to 'super-sonic' makes me ball like a baby! Gladys Knight @The Pips are #1 of the coolest groups and the song is deep about a relationship this unrepairable but they don't want to say goodbye to each other💗

A canção triste e bela, a voz divina de Gladys, e a coreografia cheia de ginga dos Pips fazem este vídeo nada menos do que maravilhoso. Valeu por postar!
I'm a senior citizen & from time to time I listen to my oldies and my grands who are in their 20tys cry because they always say how beautiful our music was back in the day...
Rosa, I agree. She is one of my favourite singers. I listen to several of her songs everyday. She is such a talented singer with such a unique voice and charisma. I admire everything about her. Just looking at her sing inspired me to overcome my shyness and start singing professionally. You could stop by my channel sometime.
Seriously. I'm in tears right now because she's so eloquently describing a divorced couple when children are involved. To have to sail apart while your children become parents themselves is an unspeakable regret, I can only surmise.
I felt like she was singing this fantastic song to me years ago and still do, lol, what a beautiful voice, music, video and Gladys, wow, a true Queen a Goddess
Gladys Knight killed this song hands down!!! Non of these modern women singers can touch this!!!!! Who’s with me, better be 10,000 or more thumbs up!!👍🏿
Toquei essa musica para minha mãe meses antes de ela partir. E toda vez que ouço vem as lembranças dela como um vento que entra pela janela e deixa a aquela saudade. E faz lembrar o quão bom foi o tempo que podemos aproveitar juntos. Obrigado mae. Gratidao!!!!
You and me too. You had to be there to Feel the excitement and realize how great these back in the day artists really were. they made music that told a story their songs were sung oh so natural and pure. the voices. the range, all sung without Auto tune, or any other aids. People like Gladys Knight, Jackie Wilson, Jerry butler, Dionne Warrick, etc. What about that man Wilson Pickett who could scream in key, Brook Benton with that smooth Voice or Gene Pitney with that unique sounding voice. Can you think of anyone today that could touch any of these Stars of the past. Yeah, as I have said before, Get started on that time machine i'm ready to go.
Gosh I Love and Miss music like this nowadays. Music from Gladys Knight and The Pips, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Stylistics, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The Chi-Lites... Gosh you just don't hear great music like that anymore...
The lack of songs like this is why relationships don't last long these days . Back in the day a mixed tape with a few songs can snap both Ya ass back .
ABSOLUTELY !! . . . and your list gives a nod to some of the very best. Come on people- WE know you're out there - bring it together with songs like this and you too will go down in history . . . . We're waitin' !

Gladys Knight @The Pips are #1 of the coolest groups and the song is deep about a relationship this unrepairable but they don't want to say goodbye to each other💗
@@vincentberte7675 Gladys Knight aka Empress of Soul💗

@@ladybhive1210 and you are dead on about what that song is all about, you are pretty awesome yourself LadyBhive, you keep it real and nothing cooler than that except for maybe Gladys lol best wishes to you...
A canção triste e bela, a voz divina de Gladys, e a coreografia cheia de ginga dos Pips fazem este vídeo nada menos do que maravilhoso. Valeu por postar!

So nice we had to hear it twice #verzuz2020
I can feel every word she sings! Her voice is platinum!
Felizes nós que vivemos essa época de Gladys, Carpentes, Steve e dezenas de outros cantores nota 100!
She is without doubt one of the top three greatest ever soul singers that has ever lived
Oh this kind of music is gone forever. We will always treasure these classics.
Nothing is ever gone forever ❤️
I have faith 🙌🏼

Yeah now it's twerk church girl SMH
The most under-rated of all the lady soul singers. Should be at the top of everyone's list.
So true. One of my favorite 🎵
Absolutely true
And I totally agree
I agree....phenomenal
Seriously.
I'm in tears right now because she's so eloquently describing a divorced couple when children are involved.
To have to sail apart while your children become parents themselves is an unspeakable regret, I can only surmise.
Linda demais essa música, que caiu como uma luva na voz dessa cantora. 02/2023.
I shed a tear for this song its a bomb and it's gets better ad the years go by .Sammy Jamaica 🇯🇲

I'm going back to the 70s who wants to come
Me
book me a seat on that time machine. ONE WAY
The saddest heartbreaking song of a relationship. Cannot have a happy ending and pretending. Not better expressed by Gladys Knight.
The older the more beautiful she became at her age of almost 80 years old !
So sad this decade is long gone...I was there and experienced it. Give anything to go back in time and relive it again.
Music from Gladys Knight and The Pips,
Earth, Wind & Fire, The Stylistics, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The Chi-Lites... Gosh
you just don't hear great music like that anymore...

I hear ya and that is truly sad!

So sorry for all your losses. They're in good hands watching over you now. Beautiful song. Was like 13 when this came out & still have it in a 45 record in the attic.
Theresa Washington-Bragg
You're in my thoughts and prayers 💜
Theresa Washington-Bragg I lost my Mom, my Dad, & my best friend of 30 years within a 4 yr. period. I miss them all deeply, & sometimes I don't wanna go on. The only thing that brings me back is the music. Music brings out all my emotions, happiness, sadness, anger. It takes me back to different moments in my life. If I didn't have music I don't know what I would do?! Sorry for your losses. 🎶🎵
