I want to thank you for this awesome video. I just did this on my 20 hp 1972 johnson. I also could not find a bard that fit the threaded hole, but i was nervous about re-tappong the engine block so i used a die on the barb to size it down and it worked great. I took the boat out yesterday and it screamed! Thanks again!!!!
i like to stand on the back of the zero turn T Mike 👍 handy for them small motor . I did the same conversion on my 72 25 hp Evinrude it’s been running great ever cents .
Great job thanks for sharing I have a question I have this motor it has stuck rings unit was stuck got it unstuck but compression is only 30do you have a video on this thanks
very good idea, I wonder how well does the pump deliver fuel on the engine at high speed? it can keep up with the demand? I just ask beacuse I did the arrangement, but with a fuel pump from a scooter, it looks smaller than the one you used, I must say, it works fine at low speed, but when I ask for more speed, it can't keep up with the fuel demand. got the same outboard, is a '71 9.5 evinrude. Thank for any comments.
Was there a reason that you did not also install an inline fuel filter? Cool video, the thought of there being aftermarket generic application fuel pumps just never occured to me.
Hey tmike, I've seen some comments that say 7/16 isn't the right size drill and tap. I'm just wondering what is the right size before I drill my engine to the wrong size
I dropped the roll pin down in the engine compartment trying to install 0384597 Pinion Gear on a 1972 johnson 9.5 hp pull starter. How can I get it out?
I'd also like to know this. I have a 1972 20 hp. The thread is 5/16. I just ordered a 5/16 barb and the Kohler fuel pump. I'll let you know how it goes. Will be a few weeks until I splash it since I basically live in Antarctica (not really but close enough)
I have a 1965 6 HP Fisherman with a shot fuel pump. Can it be rebuilt/replaced or is there a Kohler model that I can retrofit? Thanks - your work is awesome!

Sorry I don’t do powerhead work - I recommend finding a used one on eBay - $150 to $250

@@nauticajr22 thanks You. Justo a few days after My first commentary, I got they same pump in the video, and works pretty good.

Best video yet, but I prefer your former sign off, rather than the dystopian music, Laissez Le Bon Ton Roulet. Oui Cher!
MAG1! I use their oil and grease. Great oil.

Turn da motor upside down and shake it - major drawback to those motors.
Thanks T Mike.
I have two grandsons that can do it.
Just strap some floaties on that mower and ya got ya self a boat
Why would you drill and tap the hole when it appears to be already threaded?? Do they not make smaller threaded barb fittings.

@@michaeljsimon - thanks! I assumed the '65 6hp and the '72 9.5hp would have different pumps.
Many thanks! The conversion works like a charm!
@@michaeljsimon this link doesn't seem to be working. Is it a different part number for a 1970 6hp Fisherman? Thanks
Hello T-Mike, I own a 1967 Johnson 9.5 ! Would this carbutor conversion work on my motor? It is a MQ-13 model.TIA!!!!!
Probably gonna have to clean out that carb
It was running rough because of fumes in the barrel. Ran great in open waters /

Yo, T-Mike. How are you doing today?
Another day in paradise.
WHEN TAPPING LETS TURN BACK AND FOURTH TO RELIES THE SHAVINGS
Sounds like its missing
DO NOT USE A 7/16 DRILL BIT. ITS TOO BIG FOR THE TAP EVEN. I WENT A SIZE DOWN AND ITS TOO BIG. DONT FOLLOW THIS GUYS ADVICE.
No shit what now a bigger spure and tap i can sleave it wow what a bone head move
What size did end up working?
wrong drill bit pall
Do you know what the proper size drill and tap are?
Will this work on a 66 mq-12a ?
