Additionally, they released three full metal albums based on this show’s music. They were dope.
Technically four. The second Galaktikon album Brendon Small is on record saying is a 4th Dethklok album but he couldn't legally call it "Deth Album IV" so he made it part of his Galaktikon project.

Most of the bands work is done by Brendon Small. Had another Adult Swim show called Home Movies, if you remember that.

Y’all really should just do a react series around the entire show and metal opera. This song was them apologizing to a Scandinavian country and actually awaking a troll which then destroyed the country. 🤣🤣🤣

BRANDON SMALL!!!!! He half the voices, wrote the show, wrote music played the lead guitar and sang vocals. Dude lived the metal dream. I watched Metalocalypse religiously

I don’t normally like this type of metal but dethklok is actually really good. Legit my favorite metal band
The show was called metalocalypse. Sometimes you heard pieces of songs, not the whole thing. The fun stuff is that all the songs were composed by the creator of the cartoon and by gene hoglan. (Which is a big name). So, they released 3 albums for 4 seasons of the show, an opera rock and a last album, last month, with the movie that finally gave some closure to metalocalypse, after 10 years.
So, now....there are 4 Dethalbums, and 2 Cds of Galaktikon (which is also Dethklok in everything but name)
I remember seeing all my friends do coke. I was just an innocent fly on the wall, tripping balls on shrooms. BUT!!! When I stumbled my way home through Mordor, Metalocalypse was waiting for me. I will forever love this show.

The production value for that show was great.
It specifically wasn't until later, but it was great all the same.
They made them work for it with crazy deadlines. Brandon would spend countless sleepless night writing, recording and directing the show.

I still listen to all their albums while working. Dethalbum II is an absolute musical masterpiece. Check out Bloodlines or Laser Canon Deth Sentence from that album.

In the framework of the episode it's even more awesome. They go to this small town and perform a ritual to awaken the troll. They end up having to kill it later as it starts causing them problems. Loved every episode of that series 🤟

Gene Hoglan is, has been, and always will be a monster on drums. He’s also the only guy named gene that is widely considered to be cool.

I got to see Dethklok live, which sounds strange to say. We had a unique experience. Someone pulled a false fire alarm at the Hard Rock Cafe, and obviously no one left the concert, but it messed with the power of some of the equipment, so the computers projecting the video showing the cartoon band reset, and started from the beginning while the live band continued on with the show. So while they were supposed to be synced, that was no longer the case after the fire alarm.
How did metal heads miss out on a collab between Gene Hoglan, Bryan Beller and Brendon Small?
Cause they're all innately underappreciated to begin with

THE ATOMIC CLOCK GENE HOGLAN! I had the privilege of meeting him back in 2001 in Hollywood at a Meshuggah show. Very kind and humble man, I love this dude I wish I could drum like him.

Hope you ended up looking more into the show and like it. If you do, they announced a movie!! This shaped my high school and the start of my college days. Easily one of the greatest and most under appreciated series ever.

this is also the only cartoon band to be sponsored by an actual company, after the 1st few episodes they only ever use one brand of gear, and even keeps the name visible.
The best part is even if the show didn't exist, the music is still absolutely top tier. 10/10.

The show is created by Brendon Small who is a real Metalhead. The show is based on his passion for Metal music. He is an acomplished Guitarist, he plays on the guiar parts in the show including the leads and is also the singer and lead guitarist in the live band. And you also wanted to know who the characters of the show are based on, well here you go:
Nathan Explosion (Vocals) - Based on George Corpsgrinder Fisher of Cannable Corpse.
Skwisgaar Skwigelf (Lead Guitar) - His looks are based on Alexi Laiho of Children Of Bodom, but his personality is based on Yngwie Malmsteen as he is never seen without him playing scales on his guitar. He even plays his guitar in his sleep on the show, LOL!
Toki Wartooth (Rhythm guitars) - He is based on Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth in both looks and personality.
Pickles - Drummer. His looks are originally based on Devin Townsend when he was in Strapping Yong Lad (he had a long hair but was completely bald on top of his head), but his given Red Hair and Dreadlocks with a a comb-over skullet to avoid looking to much like him.
William Murderface (Bass) - Looks based on Geezer Butler.
Gene Hoglan plays the drums in both the show and with the Live Band. If you don't know who Gene Hoglan is, you are living under a rock because he is a Metal drumming legend.
The bands animations when playing on stage is based on live performances of the band Behemoth.
The show has many guest voices from real Metal personalities as well. George Corpsgrinder Fisher and Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy are the most reoccurring guest voices on the show. George is a superfan of the show and used to always were Dethklock t-shits when performing live with Cannable Corpse.
The show is also full of Easter eggs that only Metal fans would know, especially if you were into European, Swedish and Scandinavian Metal back in the early 2000.
I really miss this show.

Please watch Metalocalypse. It fucking rocks!! Brendon Small is a genius. He played and wrote all the guitar parts and sang. He had someone play the drums. He also was the guy behind Home Videos.
It really is better with the whole context supplied by the story. In this one they summon the troll that heralds Armageddon because there wasn't much to do and the locals had a copy of the necronomicon. Changed slightly to avoid spoilers there.
I saw them live and it was fucking awesome. Brendon Small was lead vocals and guitar and then Dethklok would be behind the band as they played. they are just so friggen awesome.

Not entirely sure but I think the guitarists are Alexei Laiho (Children of Bodom) and Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah), on base Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), drums Devin Townsend and George Fisher (Cannibal Corpse) on vocals. The show also has lots of references to bands such as the mall chain "Finntrolls" etc. Good stuff.
All Guitars and vocals were Brendon Small. Drums were Gene Hoglan. Bass was Bryan Beller. Unless you were just listing their likenesses for the characters, in which case forgive me. 🥰
Now it's time for the Batmetal journey!
The characters are based on different metal stereo types, but Skvisgard is based on Yngve malmsten, Toki is a norwegian former black metal guitrist(trouble with solos), Nathan explotion is based on corpsegrinder. I guess murderface is based a little bit on lemmy, but also all lazy metal bass players, that does not contribute to song writing. According to the show, skvisgard always records the bass on their albums(as well as the the toki parts). I'm not quite sure about the drummer, but some of him is based on the drummer of queen(multi instrumentalist)🤘
Every episode is a song and then after the season the full album drops also only one guy makes 80% all vocals and guitar drums bass brenden smalls also has other cartoon bands
Metalocalpse was so good. Even on the first episode they have James Hedfield and Kirk Hammett do voices. And later on other famous metal front runners like Angela Gossow and George Fisher doing a main villain. you missed out on alot. the show was nothing to "sneeze" about. Also, Mark Hamill did voices since first episode.
James Hetfield actually does the voice of the troll this song is about, Mustakrakish!
The characters aren't based on any one person in particular, but instead each is a caricature of metal. So each character is like a combination of different metal stereotypes for that instrument.
Also the drums are played in real life by Gene Hoglan. He's who you're hearing on all their songs and their live shows. Brendon small is the creator, writer, songwriter, guitarist, voice actor for the entire show. It's his brainchild essentially. Him and Gene are the only two stable band members, and for live shows they get a rotating door of musicians to play guitar and bass.
Easily one of the best cartoons that was on air if you love metal and comedy.
I highly recommend Laser Cannon Death Sentence.
The coffee one by Dethklok is hellarious, and also I might not be the first and not the last to tell you that you should checkout the batmetal trilogy, but I will say it anyway. :)

Brendon Small is a beast. Also, Briefcase full of guts, laser cannon deth sentence, crush my battle opponents balls.
Also, the Dethklok vocalist Nathan Explosion is based ofd Corpsegrinder, the vocalist of Cannibal Corpse. The play style of guitarist Skwisgaar Skwigelf is based off Yngwie Malmsteen. Toki Wartooth play style is based off Iron Maiden. The drummer Pickles is intended to play similarly to Roger Taylor of Queen. I am not sure who bassist William Murderface is based on. There is also the original rhythm guitarist Magnus Hammersmith, not sure who he is based on either.

The show is fantastic. There is music in every episode and also the storylines are just the right side of dark whimsey. There are three proper Dethklok albums out. You have a lot to catch up on and I'm kinda jealous.
