    I recently took a Baer Rifle 2 class and I recommend it. I wanted a class to learn new things, challenge myself and practice things I normally don't. The class did all that and more. It was great.

    The reason the B5 Bravo has that slight inward angle is the same reason those companies make stocks with convex butt plates… When you have the rifle slung and need to bring the gun up to a low ready the inward angle/slightly convex butt plate allows one to sort of roll the rifle into the pocket of your shoulder.

    Similar to Pistol Grips as well, I used to just shoot with a TD Flip Grip in vertical position only for years until recently more manufacturers have began making good pistol grips with less than 9 degrees. Shot a buddy's rifle and couldn't get a comfortable sight picture or wrist angle. It really put it into perspective how my shooting style has been fully changed from strictly shooting vertical pistol grips.

    WOW... small things nobody ever tells you but make such a difference. I wish there was a place to go and you could get help setting your weapon up right, buttstock, risers, getting your optics zeroed, It would take me so time and $$$ money to figure this all out and I still wouldn't have the confidence it was done right. I have different styles of buttstocks on my rifles and a different on my pistol, how much would it be worth for me to know what brand / style works best for me, of course the fundamental's are 80% but every little bit helps. someone should do a class where they help a newer person as myself have confidence in my equipment knowing its set up with professional help then take your class like Rifle 1. I desperately need training more then anything I can buy. I'm loving the information your videos are providing thanks

    I recently discovered a range about 10min from my house has "special use" berms where shooters can set up whatever they want as long as they don't shoot over the berm (which is like 30' high). Membership costs $175/yr and just being able to do stuff like this on my own timeline would be awesome.

    Question about canting and your zero.... If you are zeroing with your rifle vertical, won't that impact your zero as soon as you start canting it?

    • @tomtomtheninja
      @tomtomtheninja 2 роки тому +3

      I think the application is relative to your situation. Personally, in close distance, it’s negligible. When you start stretching out your shot distance, then your level orientation matters. (Which is when your reticle will really come into play)

    In your shooting demonstration at 15:05, you had your thumb over the bore, which one could argue is what is the real cause for getting the gun back in line or back to the original POA. Could just be nitpicking but I think a better demonstration of the point you’re conveying would be to have an old school under hand grip vs a finger loose c clamp with your thumb over the bore. Then at the second shooting demonstration, at 16:25 you removed your thumb, cresting a hole or gap in recoil management which the gun will always go to the hole and then in your final demonstration you had a good c clamp grip. Not saying it’s not all or it’s all in the stock, but recoil management is alot more than just what style of stock you chose.

    • @tomtomtheninja
      @tomtomtheninja 2 роки тому

      Negative. In many cases, apart from rapid firing, you may need to use your optic’s reticle for drop/ranging. Makes sense to keep your optic zeroed upright. Canting makes sense where the distance is short enough for the deviation of impact to be negligible.

    Always thought of the sling as the most important thing after sights. But then, it never once occurred to me that there'd be any meaningful difference between tiny curve and no curve on the stock face.
    Thoughts on stock relevance in DMR/SPR builds, where the expected engagement envelope is 200-800m or so? This presentation seems focused on shooting up close, and most of my shooting at a distance has relied on cranking the sling down to nearly tourniquet tight and just holding the thing still via hate and discomfort, or else firing supported and trying to just stay out of the way of the rifle while it does the job for me.

    Bears,Beets,Battlestar Galactica. I live in middle Tennessee and you would think there would be pistol, rifle classes. QCB training, matches galore. Nope. The minutely amount of actual training classes are always booked out 2yrs minimum. So I watch the " best" guys on UA-cam and glean from them. Take that from the video to the range and implement it. It can get boring just because my shooting cousin absolutely hates drills. I end up doing them myself, after we have shot- with no direction or meaning behind anything. I in turn absolutely hate that. Oh well......at least I'm getting trigger time.
