We'll be on vacation for the week, so we'll be leaving all the new reviews for the other guys. You know who you are... 😁
Damn, that's why I haven't seen your review of The Matrix 4K yet. I'm really looking forward to your review. No-one else has one out yet but even so it won't be as good and detailed as yours. Have a nice trip, see you when you get back.
SpareChange hey y'all see little Jimmie 🙋♂️
🤔
Hmmmm..... what bothers me about movies is having very low voice volume when the actors are talking in just about every movie and then you get over exaggerated LOUD explosions and music in the background making it hard to hear what the actors are saying. It makes me feel like my receiver is not properly calibrated at times. Then there are times where things sound even. Someone who works in this field really needs to review these problems and fix them before mass producing bluray or 4k bluray disc like this. What you experienced with the audio is what I also experienced with Thor Ragnarock. 😑 picture quality coming from my LG OLED E6 was great though.
I totally agree on those points.
Especially with Surround sound
@@manlykscorpa yes exactly!!!!!!
Yep that’s very annoying it happens on most DVD’s one minute you’ve to turn the volume up and the next turn it down I don’t know why it’s like that it just makes you want to turn it off.
what's the deal with Disney not putting out proper 4K releases?
Robert Hernandez The audio is not loud enough.
Robert Hernandez they are doing it on purpose so you will not buy physically anymore. They want to stop spending money making disc, and like most in our modern day want to go strictly online (streaming). Once people get tired of the disc not looking good, they will start buying digitally, and then Disney will announce they are not making disc any more. IT'S A COOPERATE AGENDA.
Disney needs to start handling 4K releases properly, this low-volume issue is annoying me a little bit. Either way still a day 1 buy for me.
ColonielLizardT4 you are the problem if they need to get their shit together with audio and so forth, how do you get their attention but running out day one and buying it. If they keep making money, they won't fix shit. Don't GO BUY THEIR SHIT AND WATCH THEM FIX IT.
Get your crap together Disney
Great review! Im hoping all the old MCU movies get 4K Blu-Ray releases soon.
Thanks for the quality reviews, it's production value and effort I wouldn't expect to see on a channel that's not in the 100k+ subscriber range
Thanks really appreciate that 👍👍
Damn Disney low quality sound still...😒 Thanks Shane.
It's unfortunate.
Warner Bros does a far better job on their transfers for DC Comics than these amateur at Disney...
As usual Shane, another stellar review. I appreciate your straight forward approach.
Thanks for the review Shane ... Makes one wonder how a film company can put so much effort and money into a mammoth production like this and let it go out with so many imperfections! Think I’ll stick with the Blu Ray, chheers
Great review. I’m seriously thinking about not buying these Marvel movies if they can’t get the audio mix straight.
That the sound is lower is one thing but like on Ragnarok the base just doesn’t hit hard enough, turning up the volume won’t help.
Marvel I know you don’t read this but if you do give Michael Bay a call would you?
Fingers crossed for Infinity War.
Makes no senes seeing how much money these movies make that they can't spend a few dollars in tuning the video and audio quality of there home video releases. All Disney movies should be reference qualtity releases.
Ahhhhhh Shane and I were debating this transfer for a good half hour last night, slightly different thoughts hmmmmmm
AR says reference lol
We can't always be the same! 😲 Lol
SpareChange Just watched it lol not reference but pretty good 😂
I thought it was excellent after increasing the Black Level setting to “53” from “50” on my X940E. Otherwise, there was some black crush. Definitely video reference in scenes! The “atmos” was a typical bad Disney audio master. A must buy if you are a fan of action movies!!!
Will you do review of The Matrix and Jurrasic Park movies when they are released in 4K ?
Most likely.
Okay , yes hope you will, because it would be nice to see your reviews before I eventually buy them.
Disappointed there's no Matrix Collection coming to 4K.
man, I thought it was my system I'm glad you had the same problem everything sounded very low. Saving private Ryan in atoms is by far the best experience i heard.
"The movie has weak blacks!"
Now that's just racist!
RIP Chad:/
After watching this last night the audio isn’t even mono speaker worthy.
No more Disney purchases for the time being.
Yeah. Major disappointment.
I should've listened to you Shane. I bought and watched and it looked terrible. Except for the lab and end credits, I kept wondering if I had the right disc in the player. It looked like it was remastered for 4k HDR, it was that bad. I can't believe every other reviewer raved about how good this one looked. Thank you for keeping it honest.
💪
What a shane, we pay allot for these 4K, and they dont give us what we desirve.
Gawd Damn Disney Great Review Shane 😡
I think i will like HDR on this. Because personally i dont like it when colors pop too much. Its very strained to my eyes
Hey Shane, unfortunate to hear that the audio was disappointing. Andrew from AR Media felt the same way. I'm curious about Infinity War's 4k when the time comes. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
I heard the Atmos track at the theater. I'm not expecting to be blown away.
Do not buy if you are looking to show case audio...sucks.. sucks...I have a expensive home theater setup but sucked big time and wasted $29 bucks
Just sat through a 3min ad for you. Get that paper! 💰🙏🏾
Hope it was a good one. Lol 🍻
You are RIGHT on all counts. In comparison to your viewing in HDR10, the same rings true in Dolby Vision. Super muddy blacks, horribly low audio, & almost no Dolby Atmos effects. Why did they ruin this?
Hey shane love your videos. Have you considered adding hdr formats for the blu ray on topic?
Definitely im getting this on 3D..No 3D release here in the US but they have it in UK so ill just import it. Thanks for the review👍
I'll be importing myself.
SpareChange Awesome!!! I’ll be waiting for your 3D review! Thanks!
I just got Dr. Strange in 3d and it was excellent. I'm starting to look for more 3d movies since getting my projector. Any other movies out there you guys recommend?
Ragnarok
Great review 👍
Thanks for the review Shane! I picked up BP on Vudu for the Dolby Vision through my OLED. Watched it in HDR10 as well on my XB1X and agree with you on your assessment. The Korean chase was the highlight of the film with sharp detail, and wonderful use of dynamic range highlights. The DV looks slightly better than HDR10 as shadow detail is better, and depending on light, the face of the actors show a bit more highlights than HDR10. I would say 8.0 on the visuals overall as I thought there was more great scenes than average to shitty.
Glad someone saw what I did. After I put up the review I had read some pro reviews that gave it a perfect score. Questioned myself for a minute.
SpareChange No the scenes you highlighted being too dark, and bad CGI were spot on. There were scene I thought would have looked better like when Killmonger burns the plants came off flat to me. But the dream sequences looked amazing, the end fight when the Panthers were falling into the cave initially looked impressive until they landed on the platform and Black levels fell apart along with the CGI quality. But cut back to the scenes where agent Ross is blowing cargo ships out of the sky and it looked amazing again. It's an 8 DV, and I agree with the 7.8 in HDR10. To score a 10 in my book it has to be on the Passengers, and Transformers 5 level which it is not.
Was gonna mention those scenes too but wanted to keep the review relatively brisk. Yeah not in the same league as Passengers or Transformers.
SpareChange Speaking of movies with 10 visuals, Maze Runner Death Cure needs to be in the mix for its amazing HDR, especially in the later half of the movie. It's definitely 3 on my top 5 4K/HDR demo worthy movies.
I get mine Tomorrow in the Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook on 4K and Regular Blu-ray. 😁
Nice!
Geez... I hate having to convince myself these Disney 4k releases are great. I guess there is a reason they have not released the previous movies over the past couple of years! I’ll reserve judgement until I see it, but I wonder if it is a financial or quality control problem. Honestly, who the heck is mastering these things?
Great review, thanks 👍👍
These top films are realised in the US & UK at the same time but in the US you get the home realise so much earlier black panther dose not come out here until next month
Worth the wait if your a fan. But that sucks for you guys though.
Why oh why Di$ney are you not releasing better 4K UHD editions for your most successful franchises (MCU and Star Wars)? Black Panther and Episode VIII: The Last Jedi being just two examples.
Do you know if 4k is now a success and is here to stay or is it soon history because of maybe most people buy 1080p blurays and 3d?
Vebjorn Grytten 4k is mainstream now.
I just watched this on my brand new JVC NX7 projector and thought it looked pretty good on my 140” ultra wide screen. It might be worth a re-watch to let us know if your original review holds up, However the audio is definitely anemic. I had to increase the volume by 5 dB to start enjoying the movie,
Is this only with the 4k version? What about the normal blu ray version? same problem or not?
Just Outta curiosity where are you based in? Also could you review the 3D version of the film.
I'll check it out this tuesday. Disney is slacking man!
Great video as always Mr Change but gotta disagree this isnt even top 5 marvel movies bud
Well I did say "Possibly one of the best" 😁
Will you be reviewing the 3D version?
I should be.
what the hell is with the piss poor volume levels, actually all there audio mixes just lately, very disappointing.
Black panther was just ok as a movie
I have been really disappointed with the audio on some of these marvel Blu-ray releases. To this point I think the best has been Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Age of Ultron and Civil War had really weak audio mixes. This is really troubling considering they had some of the biggest action sequences but the audio didn't support them.
Maybe they get fixed when they come to 4K. Doubt it though.
This disney atmos issue has to be somebody doing something wrong in the 4K bluray mastering process because when I saw this in dolby cinema the atmos track was great.
Not sure if you guys notice a trend with Disney 4k movies but they all look washed out or almost dull. Thor ragnarok, black panther, guardians 2 and the worst one the last Jedi (ugh) lol
I’ve been mentioning it in all the reviews. There are some positive moments though. Somehow they seem to get perfect scores from all other reviewers.
I'll be COMPLETELY honest, i watched the standard bluray tonight on a standard Panasonic bluray player, and it was phenomenal! 4k players pretend to be good standard players, but they cannot compare...I'm not even going to bother watching it on 4k with my 4k player, because simply it will not be any better...time for 4k to ACTUALLY step it up!
I have tried watching but fall asleep or get distracted and my attention goes to something else.
Waiting 4 your 3D review :)
Not sure if I buy this one anyway 😒
Really love the marvel movies but couldn't enjoy this one as much as the others.
How many speakers do you need to have a nice atmos sound and how setting them up? I want a least possible speaker system in my living room, because of space problems.
is it enough with 5 speakers in front with the picture. There you have the backsoundspeakers on the top of the front side speakers.
Vebjorn Grytten You need 8 total speakers including subwoofer for Atmos . (Not including fake soundbar Atmos)
The black levels are so bad! I thought it was my TV or player but the during night scenes the black levels are clipped. It looks soooooo bad. Such a shame.
It is flawless on standard bluray on a standard player...
This one is a skip....... 😑
To give this disc release the benefit of the doubt, I can confirm that even in theaters that the Atmos was non-existent. I was very confused when I saw it in a Atmos theater when I couldn't here anything coming from the overheads until the car chase.
You’d think they’d give these huge blockbusters the Best treatment.
I completely agree. I payed a lot to see it in Dolby opening night (like $20 a ticket) and the Atmos sucked so bad. Pretty bad when a movie like JUMANJI has a better Atmos track...
You know not all the 4k blurays are actually 100% 4k. Most movies are shot at 2k or 3.4k resolution and upscaled to 4k to look slightly better. If you want to know what movies are true 4k visit RealorFake4k.com. black panther is actually closer to 4k than most movies.
I do provide the tech specs at the beginning of every video. 😁
SpareChange Are there ways to get movies to play at 60fps rather than the old 24 fps.
You can change your motion settings in the tv if you want a smoother motion. Adding extra frames can cause visible issues. But it's something you'd have to play around and see.
Please can you do a 3d blu ray review of black panther
@SpareChange do a review of BOSE LIFESTYLE 650.!
That thing is might expensive. Plus I wasn't to thrilled with the sound you get with how much you pay.
Sounds like a dud. Glad I went with 3D.
I can't wait for the 3D version. Should look good 🤞
Are you to going to review Black Panther in 3D?
Is there any grain in it?
Nope 4K crispy.
That sounds great :) Marvel do good releases. DC comics not so good.
I was going to get the 4K version of the Last Jedi but after your review I decided to get the regular Blu-ray. Should I do the same here?
I think this looks better then the last Jedi. It looks fantastic at times.
The soundtrack is fantastic! It’s a real shame about the sound.. For me, it’s slightly ahead of visuals in importance. For example, in IW if there’s no overheads when Thanos fends off Iron Man by ripping a frickin’ planet from space, I will be pissed. It will be Disney’s last chance!
some dark scenes are weak and the atmos not so much. 👎
I get seasick of 3d so it was nice to hear this was a good 4k relase
I watched this movie last night in 4k hdr on my OLED and it was just really bad. Some of the sets seriously looked fake and almost plastic. I stopped watching less than one hour in. Glad I didn't buy it and just downloaded the remux.
Skipping this one. Overrated and crappy audio.
