  • This is part 1 of 3 of a seminar about Floating Jigs for Steelhead. I gave this seminar in Steelhead River at the 2014 Western Washington Sportsmen's Show in Puyallup, WA. If you are interested in fishing with Ridge to River Outdoors or for more articles and how-to information, visit our website at www.ridgetoriveroutdoors.com
I apologize about the audio. Apparently we had a problem we did not know about.

    Very Informative video,Thanks.
I have few questions, since im new to steelhead fishing i m always confused about the length of the leader. What length should i use when i m fishing very shallow water and fast current? and what what Lbs leader should be used.
    Thanks.

about 2 feet is the rule of thumb for you're leader and use 8-10 lb main line and i use 6.8 for my lead but its preference and depends on the conditions. if the fishing is tough try 4-5 lb fluorocarbon leader, remember not fluorocarbon line lol theres a difference. Good luck fishing !

What if you don't have a boat? Can you do the same from shore?

Absolutely! That is the great thing about floating jigs. It can be done from the bank or the boat! Watch all three parts and you will see me talk about fishing from the bank. Thanks for watching!

+Team-Extreme Michigan Thanks for you comment! That is the way to go. Having a variety of rod lengths for floating jigs is the best!

I usually cock my jigs, by tying two knots on my jig , one dummy knot and one knot for my fishing line . YOUR OPINION..... best knot to use as a dummy knot ? the hole process is to keep my jig and worm horizontal in the water column , I'm sure you have used this procedure.

way up here we call drift fish in float fish in-whats the difference???

Drift fishing does not use floats. Float fishing uses floats to suspend the bait or jig, as you fish a stretch of water.
