You rock! I have been extremely hesitant about breaking out into the fashion styling world, but then there are stylist, such as yourself, that put everything in to perspective. Thanks!
Hi Shauntez, I am so glad I help simply some topics which can seem overwhelming at first! I'm really happy that you took a step of faith into your possible 'dream job'! how are you finding it? Are there any other subjects you would like me to cover? x
Thank you for this. I'm graduating college in May and have really been struggling with how to get started on my career. I feel like I'm so behind. I've put together my own photo shoots with friends but I need to take my styling to the next level with professionals and brands.
Amazing! test shoots are always a great start! I would also encourage you to work outside of your comfort zone with working with 'friends'. try photographers with a strong portfolio and links to magazines! Definitely start pushing to contact brands, magazines LOVE brands! xxx
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Awesome tutorial! At last someone who actually shows the process and gives examples!!! Loved it, keep on the great work. I suscribed gladly :)
Bless you! thank so much Aambrya for your kind words and support! make sure you take a look at my channel and subscribe!! Also, if there any other topics you would like me to cover on my channel that I haven't already let me know xx

This video is game changing I’m a photographer and I do my own styling for shoots I wish I found this video earlier any suggestions if your just pulling for a test shoot with an agency signed model ?
I really enjoyed your video. It was extremely informative! What advice would you give someone who wants a career in styling but isn't sure which aspect to pursue? celebrity styling, editorial, and or personal styling etc. I think you should record a video on how to get your start in fashion styling industry. While also mentioning the pros and cons of pursuing this career path. keep it 100% real with us lol. Thanks!
Thank you so much. This has been so helpful. I want to get to the industry and I needed the tutorial. Could you cover how to charge clients for personal styling? How do you make sure you have the right fit for a model or client when you are sourcing for clothes?
Hi Elegy, I have covered some of your questions in a Q&A Video I am editing now! Keep your eyes peeled! Also, let me know if there are any other topics you would like me to cover! x
Thank you love, You are the best! Oh yea one more thing, writing proposals for potential clients say designers, that one wishes to work with. What should the proposal entail? Bless you
Erica, you are awesome! Thank you so much for the awesome advice. I just started a fashion blog & have been styling on instagram for awhile. If you ever have any advice for my channel, I would totally appreciate it! Keep on rocking!!!
Hi lovely, apologies for the SUPER late response! Thanks so much for your kind words! it honestly does motivate me! send mea link to you page I would love to have a look!! xxxo
Hi lovel! I am glad that you loved it!! The subject is up to you! just use something that will catch their eye. for example "cover shoot editorial", " fashion editorial request", "stylist request", "celebrity photoshoot". It really is up to you - but pul out the important part of your email. x
Hi! Thanks for your informative video! I was wondering what process you use specifically to keep track of all of the samples pulled from different showrooms? Thank you!
PR's and bands usually document this and give you a form. I recommend watching my vlog on pulling, how to pack and also mastering the process of a photo shoot. This will help you beyond this tutorial I created years ago Queen! 🙌🏾💖
PR's are often middle men for particular brands. I recommend watching the second part to this video 'when they say no' and also 'how to attend PR events'. to get some more info xx
Hi Izabela, Thanks so much for your kind words!! Make sure you subscribe and keep updated! also, let me know if there are any topics you would like me to cover? xoxx
Hi Erica, Thank you so much for your reply :) I am a owner of Luxury Fashion Networking In Mayfair and might have very interesting offer for you. Could you kindly contact me to discuss more details please contact@izabelacalik.com
What advice would you give to a model that is looking to pull clothing for their own shoots? Can they still approach PR and designers the same way? Or would it maybe be abit more difficult?
Hey Erica, First off I wanted to send gratitude your way for providing this information. Quick question, when you are calling in clothes/ pulling are you paying for the clothes upfront or just providing and imprint of a credit card you will be using if anything were to happen. I surely know that they aren't giving the clothes without that info. Just wanted clarity!
Hi Lovely, by any chance have you watched any of the other video's on my channel? :-D Thats the best way to start, I have definitely invested so much time in covering all these questions that so many other creatives have had. in terms of clothing budgets check out my latest video called 'finance explained'. Also have a look at my video '5 Easy Tips On Following a Brief & Pulling/Selecting Clothes!' I think these videos willl give you more information than I can type in this box xxxo
Erica Matthews thanks so much. I haven't gone through all your other videos yet so I will definitely watch them. Didn't want to assume you covered so I thought I'd just ask! Thanks for all of you help truly! ❤️❤️
Hey. This video was very helpful on my journey of becoming a Fashion Stylist. I would really appreciate it if you can make a video on how to get noticed by magazines to be featured?
Do you think working as a stylist for an agency or being a freelance editorial stylist is better? How much is the pay would I be able to live in nyc. What type of stylist is paid the best editorial? And are they paid by the day or hour or page?
Hi Iyron, happy holidays! Subscribe to my channel and take a look at this video: ua-cam.com/video/MVCohIf0n7c/v-deo.html I have always been freelance! I think The best type of industry to get into is Commercial Styling. Most clients like to pay a day rate, I think if you were doing personal styling then you would look at hourly rates. Remember rates are individual and always based on your experience and the services you offer. I really think if you look through a few of my videos it can help you especially in this area where you can help distinguish who you are as a brand! xxxo
Hi Brandee! Deff subscribe (if you haven't) and turn on the notifications as I will be speaking a little on this! If I have bought clothes with my or my clients money. Buying and returning is the preferred method. In some cases you will find that clients want to keep the pieces but this tends to be in films/adverts etc. in case they need to reshoot! I hope this answers your questions! xxxo
Hey! I have covered some of your questions in a Q&A Video I am editing now! Keep your eyes peeled! Also, let me know if there are any other topics you would like me to cover! x
Thanks for ur super helpful video! Question: what if it is a collaborative shoot and will approach magazines later on, how can I ask a PR company to pull clothing for collaborative shoots?
Hi I am a upincoming freelance stylist I be styled a few shoots with clothing from thrift stores just for test shoots as I go on y styling gets better and I start to find my groove so I just have a question , do you think I should continue in doing test shoots and improving my editorial shoots or should I just go far it and start reaching out to or contacts because I feel like that wouldn't take me serious based on few shoots so far or maybe I'm just being self conscious.
Hi Ashani, I am happy to hear you are doing your own photoshoots! I know a lot of people who haven't had the confidence to start! this yet - GO GIRL!! My advice is that at any stage you can make requests to showrooms and stores. Things like commission letters and magazine/publication features are golden tickets to this! I would advise you to test your luck and try some submission shoots (check my building portfolio video for more info). But you have a stronger chance if you can get a commission letter from a magazine and let the shoot you are doing get published. Most designer showrooms are not really interested in loaning for test shoots. I hope this has helped, Erica x
Does this process work for boutiques when ordering from brands? I have found that when ordering merchandise the pieces are not what you expect sometimes.
I haven't got much experience in terms of the 'buying side'. I would definitely use my email template when contacting them. I would also suggest if you are finding that the merchandise is different when you receive it. try to set up a day when you can go in and view the samples or ask to have samples sent of the product so you know exactly what you are getting! I hope this helps!! xxx
Thank you for your video. It's really helpful. As you have mentioned about keeping updated, can you recommend us - those who wanna learn and update about fashion news, styles and trends - some websites or pages for these kinds of information? Thank you in advance. Best wishes

Hey.
This video was very helpful on my journey of becoming a Fashion Stylist.
I would really appreciate it if you can make a video on how to get noticed by magazines to be featured?
unorthodoxDEE do you think that getting with an agent would make the job easier, you wouldn't have to get out and hussle the agency would do it all
You can collab with photographers and makeup artists and models and submit them to magazines. A lot of them accept submissions
Do you think working as a stylist for an agency or being a freelance editorial stylist is better? How much is the pay would I be able to live in nyc. What type of stylist is paid the best editorial? And are they paid by the day or hour or page?
