I've been getting through the full four hour beast, but I think here is probably the place to leave a comment on it. It is hands down the best interview that I've ever heard or read with Casey Stoner. It's probably the best MotoGP rider interview ever, and it's definitely one of the best. As a general "window into the mind of a topline athlete" piece, it's exceptional, never mind specifically racers. I think anyone who races anything should listen to the whole thing.
    TL;DR - I liked it.

Casey as humble and articulate as ever was hesitant to quote an in theory Laptime, but everything he said was 100% spot on, if perfect conditions, and he got to ride the new surface on his best bike quali set up I have absolutely no doubt in my mind Casey could lap in the 1:26.00s I wouldn't be surprised if he punched out 3 in a row 1:26.80 1:26.35 1:26.44 just to silence his haters and put a stop to those in the Italian media who would constantly print nasty untrue bullshit whenever they saw an opportunity.

The slides were beautiful. But to me the most fascinating thing about Stoner's style was, that he would always hit the same lines every lap. He didn't throw the bike in like a brute. He drove it precisely like a surgeon. It looked like he was in total control. That I found much cooler than going gungho like others.

Well even as a Rossi fan, I don't think Marc would crash, cause he's a master of saves, I mean, he rarely crashes out in races, most of the time it happens in the free practices, Casey is a legend of course, but the only rider that can save insane front end crashes is Marc, I've never seen any other do it, not even Rossi so clearly he's probably the most talented.

Steve Williams Not at all. Most riders wouldn't have mentioned the qualifying tyres. The rest of it was straight out explanation of what the track is like and how he managed it. Ffs don't watch it if that's all you think he is.

Give the man a break.... His not even taken credit... Just got in to the details of what actually helped him at PI.... But trust the complex ego of a keyboard warrior

Did you not listen to the piece about his CFS? Or did it just not fit your prejudices?

Hey Einstein. Not enough of a legend to stand YOUR judgement? He raised the bar in MotoGP like few of any generation have. He absolutely blitzed it mate, he lit up the track and reveled in his time. Champion's from different era's will ALWAYS be given to the speculation of a mano' el mano/relativity comparison and it's cool, but your preposition is just pure insult. Get a life.

@@LS1able cmon. No classes at Phillip island saw a dramatic drop of two seconds. Yes the surface was better. Yes there was an improvement. But 2 secs .

      It's a simplistic comparison but :
      Pole times
      2012 Casey Stoner - 1.29.623
      2013 Jorge Lorenzo - 1.27.899
      Fastest race laps
      2012 Casey Stoner - 1.30.191
      2013 Marc Marquez - 1.28.108
      So yeah, twoish seconds.

He definitely was. I fact he was beyond everyone. It wasn't until Marc that someone was as good (but in a different way). Stoner was the master of the slide (after all he had many, many dirt track titles before he was 15). Marc has fantastic corner entry and ability to ride over the limit but he is not necessarily faster than Stoner. Ask Rossi!

Put em all on the same bike, that'll settle it. Preferably on Mick's 500cc 2stroke. Now that'd be entertaining. 🥃👌
