Been playing golf for 4 decades and I'm amazed how tuition has changed. Used to be told to have little hip turn and wind up against the lower body like a spring. In chipping it was hands forward and ball first, now we have the bounce. Different teaching seems to come into vogue. For years I've been trying not to do things that Matt is doing 😆. I'm still a mid very average golfer. But more cynical now about swing theory.
How do these people get the compression like that? I'm a half okay golfer but can never get a divot like these guys! I swing similar to Matt in the sharper takeaway but his compression is still insane!
This is the PGA Tour swing I would recommend no one copies. They aren't doing a good job of describing what's happening in his swing, but most swings go from supinated wrist hinge (what the idiot announcer called "bowed") to pronated wrist hinge (released club). Effectively, open to closed from top to bottom (after the takeaway). Matt has a super strong grip at address, so he cannot bow his wrist at the top or he will hit a quick hook left. So, he leaves the club closed and just uses extreme grip strength to hold the club face open throughout the downswing (hold off for spin). This causes a neat little straight pull that draws slightly. Why would I say no one should copy... just like mr hovland, hold off wrist strength swings erode the joint and eventually eliminate the player completely. Really just a terrible swing he makes work through excessive practive and physical ability. Not worth copying. 😊
@@johnklaus9111 I am a hcp 5 player and I have pretty much the same swing as Fitzpatrick. On upswing I am more on plane, but in the end I force to have the club face open on impact, also resulting in a straight pull that draws slightly. After every round my wrist hurts a lot. I tried couple of times to make it more sqaure but then I lose so much distance, have no feeling how far I can hit or even straight - it is like I lost the ability to aim and I cannot transfer any power to the golf ball, if this makes sense. After covid I realised that the wrist pain occurs more frequently and I dont know what to do. Do you have any recommendation? If I hit couple of straight wrist shots (which is really akward tbh) then I am playing like a 20 hcp player.
@@gamesacc902 Sorry. I didn't ping me until this recent comment. As far as advice, yes, go see a kinesiologist and a orthopedic doctor. The kinesiologist can help you improve your movement and the orthopedist will help you fix your pain.
@@gamesacc902 Also. Sometimes, you have to move backwards to go ahead. I now have a serious hand and foot issue (not related to golf) and had to change my swing and it was not fun for a few years, but your short game never really leaves you. Best of luck! Recovered 7 hdcp. Benefits: I now have an above average one handed short game... ;)
Incredible how he was able to put every power move into his swing and made it super consistent!
Immelman is a top 3 all time golf commentator. Love watching his golf swing takes.
Thank you Trevor Immelmann for explaining his technique so well ❤
Man i love how he is doing everything against the book n making work lol
Depends which book/teachings you are referring to. Watch how Bobby Jones swung the club.
We need a Chris Kirk swing theory.
Seriously! His swing is so smooth
So simply put, he swings with the hips turning and the arms just follow.

very compact....not alot of moving parts...consistancy is key...lovely
Love this.

I'm going to try this at a golf range later and probably fail.
George Bryan swing theory
The guy who said hitting it far isnt a skill, trained to hit it further 😂
Yeah isn't that exactly what he meant. That everyone can train and hit long. 😅
Thus proving his point that it isn’t a skill and anyone could do it
@@agency7367 exactly.🧐
That’s actually good. It’s right to change your mind when face with new knowledge.

Hackers emulating his swing will hit a straight right slice or the biggest pull banana ever. 😊

One never sees him smile and always looks grumpy, as if he is not enjoying himself.
