Fr. Seraphim is a personal friend of our family and our parish. He is the dearest “mushroom” I know. Thank you for interviewing him and posting these inspiring videos. ☦️
I always enjoy listening to Fr. Seraphim ... his insight is spot on and his sense of humor refreshing. As I’ve said before, an old soul .... and that’s a good thing. Excellent video my friend, and it made my Friday that much better. ☦️🐝☦️
Bless Father. Thank you for encouraging me on my way home. I laughed a little when Father said he has the uncanny ability to interpret signs to mean exactly what he wanted them to. Me too. Lol
Father Seraphim seems a very nice man, even by worldly criteria, and his holiness is palpable. Thank you for screening this. Is it possible to see some photos of the monastery?
I appreciated his honesty and telling us that monastic life is not for everyone due to its difficulty. Still, just like the monks, we should engage in the fast even as they do and pray daily as they do.
When God calls us we can't resist even if we think we can. One of the most important prayers,at least for me, is the prayer asking God for enlightenment. Also,I would like to comment on something in this video concerning depression. I feel depressed because as much as I would like to be able to live a life as the good father described I know that I can't.
That was powerful. It’s important for orthodox Christian’s to recognize geographically what has taken place in lands outside of the Mediterranean and be accountable for the lives of people who demonstrate Christ
Enjoyed this interview! It is encouraging to hear a person trying to discern God's Will as opposed to following his feelings. Such wisdom should be heeded!
Fr Seraphim, the weather is the same here in the west of Ireand. Once I have central heating I am fine. God bless your endevours. I am catholic I find the early Irish saints incredible. They fasted & prayed. I have been to Lough Derg in Donegal a few times . St Patricks purgatory. A penitional island . You fast on black tea & toast for 3days & stay up first night mostly outside . Do beds during the day ie you walk on ; remains of beehive huts which are stony all done in bear feet . I did when young some do it into old age. It was all inspired by irish saints who believed in penance for sins. You have undertaken something beautiful for God may God bless & keep you.
This was very interesting. I tried to subscribe to the podcast from the podcast page via iTunes, but got a message that the page does not exist. So I subscribed via email and hope that works.
Thanks for stopping by, Anna Maria! These interviews are currently only available as videos, not podcasts. I would like to make them available as podcasts, though!
Can someone explain the reason why they would kick new monks out for no reason. I understand that it’s a test but it kind of seems off to me. In other words, I don’t understand why someone should ask for forgiveness for something they didn’t do.
He said it... it was used as a mean to test the monks... their dedication to the monastic life. Those who were tough in their decision would stay at the gates of the outside wall and patiently wait until received back in. Sometimes it would mean living there for several months or even years. That is how monastics of those days were having a will of steel.
Oh, you're a right wing ortho bro who became Orthodox because you believe it represents some sort of cultural and moral purity? Shame Orthodoxy is being tainted by such people. Perhaps you really will find God there though, so it might turn out okay after all 🙏 I'm pretty sure Jesus loved black people too 🤔
@TC G It seems that you didn't realize what Our Brother have say. That God didn't find an other idiot (that mean Our Heavenly Father looks for idiots. No Our Lord Jesus Love us as children May Our Lord Jesus Christ bless you

I have heard that God doesn't seek the qualified but, He qualifies those He calls. I appreciate this video.

Thanks to God...glad you found us!
God bless Fr Seraphim. His is one of my favourite stories I've encountered since coming to Orthodoxy! 😊🙏
I’ve been on the Mull Monastery Pilgrimage and what an experience, visiting the beehive cells, caves and Holy sites of our Celtic Saints!☦️
Lovely...would love to make it one day!
His closing remarks about the seriousness, maybe even severity, of monastic life is so refreshing to a world gutted by selfishness & individualism.
Indeed...refreshing...and rare...

Mull monastery has a YT channel that also links to their website. 🙂

It is a beautiful thing...we're all on the same path, and need to encourage one another in our struggles...

Revealing; not for the faint of heart.
Indeed!
Deeply resonant with me as part of a Celtic Christian community starting on the west coast of another Scottish Island, Bute. Runaringan.org

A BLM priest who routinely exhibits woke attitudes.
