One of the many emotional scenes from "The Lost Valentine" starring Betty White, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sean Faris. In this scene, Caroline Thomas (Betty White) reduces to tears as Neil Thomas, her husband who was declared missing in action for 66 years, finally returns to the train station after all this time.
This is how America will respond when we lose our lovely Betty White one day.
It will be worse than that
Not just America...
Shes immortal
No, there'll be more flowers 😭😭
Except our President
This scene has a whole new meaning now. 💔 RIP Betty. We’ll miss you.
This scene of her crying...
That's the world when we found out she passed...
It sure does !
Omg I know! 😭
@@lenc3970 I was chirping when I woke up...
New Year and all (GT +8 Timezone)...
Then I saw posts on my newsfeed about her passing...
Stayed in bed all day, sad...
Carol Burnett posted, Bettys manager told her, Bettys last word was "Alan" - the name of her husband who died 1981.
I can imagine Betty was thinking of Alan when she was filming this scene.
The way she says " my husband's coming home today" is just raw emotion.
Just that one line, "my husband's coming home today", the way she said it. Instant tears for me. Betty is absolutely amazing at anything she does.
Hammersmashed68 same here tears instantly
that's also very true
Hammersmashed68 yes, instant tears with that single line
Ikr...every single time i watch this movie, i will still end up crying rivers 😭
I weep every time i repeat that scene.
and THIS is why she is still an amazing actress at 98!!!!
98 years old and still performing in front of the camera. Let that sink in.
She looks better at 98 than my Grandma at 67.
AMEN
Rip... 🥺
Agreed. She is so missed.
RIP Betty White. What a talent. What a lady! May you fly high 🕊🕊
Amen indeed to that
@Y K sicko
She grabbed 2021 by the throat and said your coming with me

Betty never remarried after losing her husband many, many years ago.She knows this pain.
Had me in tears
@@bobbennett2602 you could really feel she connected with that pain.😔
When she was at the casket, it didn't seem like acting. Performance was real, mourning Alan
The emotions of her losing her own husband probably resurfaced in the scene. You can see it
She's said before in regards to why she never re-married: " When you've had the best, who needs the rest?" ❤
"So no matter how many tears we cry today the laughs outnumber them." April 26, 1989. Betty White on the death of Lucille Ball. We apply that to you now, Betty. We know you are with Allen again and have eternity to be together. Thank you for making us laugh for 8 decades. We already miss you and always will. Rest in paradise. Betty Marion White Ludden 1922-2021
Now, if anyone ever dares to claim Betty White's a one-note, limited actor relying on her age and bawdy puns just watch this for heaven's sake... "My husband is coming home", a single line, spoken with quiet dignity and hinting at so much emotion it's a sucker punch.
thank you
Jef Willemsen one that ill deliver, See her in The Carol Burnett Show, Grandmas House, Golden Girls etc.....
Jef Willemsen I started crying
i thinks the golden girls is a great show
Amen💕
We were so used to seeing Betty in comedy we forgot how versatile her acting was. What an incredibly emotional and well acted scene. She was truly a woman of many talents including capturing the hearts of the world.
God I can't stop crying. That was so sad. I think seeing Betty White crying and grief-stricken (not typical for her roles) is what made it even more sad. I love her talent. However, seeing elderly humans weep is almost unbearable to watch...even in a movie!
that's ttrue
I lost a real good freind of mine i done ok at visitation until i sat down by her husband he looks upand said isnt she beautiful just look at her water starts flowing down his cheeks and mine loving compasionate family loving person she was it was hard and yes an elderly person yes it does hurt
I know exactly what you mean ...
@@janetshifflett8026 Any time somebody starts crying makes me want to lose it too.
ShannonWise Wise - I cried too, I’m sure she was thinking of her great love, Allan who died years ago, she never remarried 😢😢
Watching this now after her death makes this scene more emotional than it already is😭😭 she's coming home now . With her real husband 😢 thank you so much for your legacy Ms.Betty . The earth was so lucky to be blessed by such a legendary woman like you ❤
I'll miss that look she gave us just before the punchline.....you knew it was coming....she gave us 99 great years,,,RIP BETTY
I don't like watching this emotional side of her 😥. Oh this touched me. I prefer the jovial Betty!

never could I have imagined Betty White, the golden girl that made me cry with laughter, could make me sob with sadness..... wow. she's amazing.
Me too! I just sobbed watching this. I wanted to be over there to give her a hug and say "You're right, he came home!" Heck, I'm STILL crying!
flowerydave flowerydave she really is
And now I'm crying even harder knowing she's gone now...
I’ve never seen this movie in my life.... I watch this 4 minute clip and I’m literally bawling my eyes out cause my heart is bleeding for Betty white.
OMG! you've gotta watch the whole thing. It stayed on my dvr for years. Betty and Jennifer Love Hewitt did fantastic in this❤

Watching this scene it is hard to believe it was not real. Her acting was so intense and emotional that she brought even the other actors and crew to tears. I cannot believe that she was not nominated for anything for her performance in this movie. She is an amazing actress, animal rights protector and a wonderful human being. She is definitely an American treasure.
rogue76251 She was nominated for a SAG Award.
Betty White said in an interview that she remembered how sad she was when her own husband died and that WW II was her generations's war and she could remember it well
I do not believe Betty was acting at all she lost the love of her life 35 years ago being Alan I can’t imagine 😔❤️

She did win a lot of critical acclaim for this TV movie. Her performance was praised in every review that came out about this TV movie.
I cried like a baby...BC I know she was thinking of her real husband..
I agree.
So cool.....yes, I wondered if she used thoughts of her beloved husband to play this scene

never thought in a 1000000 years Rose Nylond (Betty White) could make a grown man tear up and cry. What an actor!
and there is nothing wrong with a grown man tearing up and crying ..
It's a crime she wasn't nominated for an Emmy for this scene alone. When i first saw this on television I bawled so hard seeing her touch the coffin.
“My husband’s coming home today.”
So much emotion in a single line of dialogue. The excitement, the expectation, the loneliness... damn! 😢😢😢
How was that emotional, unless you've seen it before? When she said "My husband's coming home today, I just thought she meant her husband's coming home today
@@kristabrewer9363 You’re right. It wasn’t emotional unless you’ve seen it before. But you could tell from her acting and the guards acting that it was an emotional scene. The way her voice cracked when she said that one line was so powerful that it shows the emotion.
I can't remember the last time a movie made me cry, or if any has for that matter, but I could feel her pain. Such a beautiful performance, this goes to show how talented she was. May she rest in peace now 💖

Betty Went Home to her real husband on December 31, 2021 at the age of 99. She would have been 100 on January 17th of this New Year. What a national treasure we have lost!

Oh Miss Bettie, that's how we feel now that you are gone. That scene was heartbreaking and I thought about how you must have felt when Alan passed. Now you're with your sweet valentine forever. RIP. We will miss you.
Beautiful written. Those were real tears she finally let out for Alan. Not just for the movie. I'm sure Alan is proud of her! I'm sure he was even excited, anxiously waiting at the gates of heaven for her to arrive! Have her go home to finally be with him now. I wouldn't be surprised the heavens threw her a Welcome Home Party! God Bless you Betty and Alan! Have a good time celebrating!🎇🎉💝🐻🐴🐶🐰

Thinking about Betty White tonight. Almost her 101st birthday. A bit more than a year since she left this small planet. She was a bright star long before she made it to the heavens. And we all were so lucky to orbit near her.

Everything about this scene is just so damn heart wrenching! Betty just constantly amazes me! Seeing her sit there alone and get up hoping to see her husband alive and ready to embrace only to see his casket be carried out...just...no words! T_T Hope Betty won an award for this performance!
Actually I think in the movie she knew he died already, but having witness the real deal was way more impactful.
She even smiled at the end, knowing that there was closure, and she doesn't have to keep waiting anymore.
She won an award from God...a life that touched so many people and gave them a laugh when they were down. Love you Betty...RIP

Sad scene. Another great Betty White performance, but not what we are used to seeing from her. Just shows how great an actress she is. This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful movies ever made. I loved Betty White and she was perfect for this movie. Wonderful actress and wonderful lady. ❤
This was a fantastic movie. It features Betty White in a more serious and emotional role instead of the comedy roles you see her play.
I didn't know
As a current soldier I still get choked up whenever I hear TAPS or read a story of the remains of fallen service members finally returning home to be laid to rest in the soil of their homeland. This scene always gets me teary eyed because I've met some elderly residents at my mom's old job who have personally gone through this. It's is both heartbreaking yet so humbling to know that when our fallen soldiers are returned they can finally rest in eternal peace. Lest we forget the sacrifices of our service members
I used to do funeral honors when i was in the navy. It was an honor to fold the flag for my fellow fallen sailors. How i made it through the ceremony without tearing up was only by the sheer will of wanting to honor those men and women as best i knew how. Its a deeply emotional feeling on so many levels. Thanks for your service.
Taps is the music of tears expressing the sorrow at the loss of a loved one or someone who has died for our country. Gets me every time.

Thank you Betty White. For shining brighter than ever. Enlighting people for what seems an eternity. We all bow or heads in remembrance of you. May you continue to shine wherever you may be. Thank you so much.
Upon hearing the news of Betty White's passing a few days ago, I decided to rewatch "The Lost Valentine" at the earliest possible moment. For me, the movie represented her finest performance. This scene especially touched me as it reminded me of the time when my late maternal grandmother stood at the graveyard during my late grandfather's funeral. Yes, Betty White's portrayal of a widow in grief was magnificent. The look of anguish upon seeing the coffin enter the train station lobby (2:00) culminated with her kissing the flag (3:08), and finally ended with a sense of relief as she found closure (3:55). I did not see Betty White acting; I saw Caroline Thomas! The performances by all the cast were brilliant. I especially liked the interaction between Betty White and Helmar Augustus Cooper, who played the Station Master Joseph Williams, at the beginning of this scene (0:34 - 0:39). Caroline Thomas saying, "my husband is coming home today" to Station Master Joseph Williams triggered the most empathetic reaction by a person who was witnessing grief and resolution. That is GREAT ACTING! RIP Betty White. Your character Rose Nylund, together with Blanche Devereau, Dorothy Zbornak, and Sophia Petrillo reminded me of my late maternal aunts and my late maternal grandmother. "Thank You For Being A Friend"!
RIP Betty Marion White Ludden (January 17, 1922 - December 31, 2021)(aged 99) you will truly be missed, and thank you for entertaining us all these years and my prayers go out to you and your family.
