  • In this video I share my experience attending Formula 1 Las Vegas. Although there were a few hiccups along the way and during the first practice race, I believe F1 Las Vegas turned out to be an amazing event especially for the first F1 race in Vegas in over 40 years.
I'm proud of all the hard work the city put in to make this event happen. Enjoy the video!

Glad you enjoyed it but between the astronomical cost to attend, the traffic problems, the construction changing the look of the Strip for the worse and the way they’ve handled the accident and kicking the fans out, it was a disaster. Most locals hate it. People’s lives should not have to change literally for months for a sporting event

With 3 F1 races now in the US . The most of any country. Calling it European is becoming less factual. They also have 4 races in the middle east Qatar ,Bahrain, Sandi Arabia, and Dubai. . But true its roots are Europe. I'd have to check to see if half their races are still in Europe. Last I heard a Saudi Arabian guy was offering to buy F1 from Liberty Media. LM isn't done building it up.

I so agree with you about all of that money and time for one race. I live on the Gold Coast in Australia and we have an annual street race for our V8’s but it goes for days and there are multiple races on every day. I think the fact that all of that time and money went on for only one race was disappointing to me. The other thing about street racing is that you rarely see the cars and you have to watch most of it on TV screens to even see what is happening. I love the whole concept but it just seem to be a nonevent Thank you for another great video ❤

Two of my favorite things in life are F1 and Vegas. This was my first F1 race experience and I was super excited when they announced the dates for the event last year. I thought I was going to watch 2 hours of practice on Thursday night but only saw 8 minutes of cars driving at a slow pace. After F1 and Vegas spent 80 million dollars on repaving the road, they still couldn't get it right on the first night. A drain cover that probably cost less than $50 annihilated a multimillion dollar Ferrari causing the 2nd practice session to be held at 4am with no viewing for fans that paid. I couldn't afford to buy qualifying or the race tickets so I just roamed around the "peasant grand stands" (escalators on the corner of Sands and the strip) on Friday night. I saw better views watching it for free than the grand stand seat I bought at the T-Mobile arena venue. This made up for the disaster on Thursday night. I will definitely go the Vegas again next year but won't pay outrageous ticket prices when I can watch it for free at certain bridges on the strip. Hopefully F1 returns because the turn out was definitely a real disaster. I thought the strip would be overwhelmed with visitors but it wasn't the case. I talked to a few casino workers and they said the event was not as big as they predicted as far as foot traffic. F1 and Vegas need to make changes to attract more fans that can't afford the price of admission.

I rarely go down to the Strip but many do, especially those who work there and tourists who visit. It seems to me, from the other side of town is that F1 could care less about those who did not attend the races.

The city of LV and F1 have a 10 year contract so it will be around for a while. I’m a big F1 fan and that was a great race by a fan’s standards. The coming years won’t be quite as disruptive so it will be less painful for the locals. Also, those weren’t practice races those were just practice sessions where the teams learn about the track and tyre wear and other info they need to best prepare for the race. Every track session has a specific reason.

It could have been done better IMO with less impact on the strip. It drove more people away for months than it brought it IMO. Class action law suite already filed regarding the practice racing getting canceled. So you might get some money back.

Right entire UA-cam and IG pages became a massive propaganda machine, yet they were at the race enjoying themselves using F1 has tags to push out their content.
Proved a point to me alot of the "vegas influencers" don't even believe their own BS they post. Some were reposting a video of a lady in a casino DURING the race saying how dead it was and that F1 was basically a flop, how can you take anyone like that serious now.

Everyone hates construction zones but when it’s all finished and cleaned up we all love the shiny new look . This event had a negative impact financially on a lot of people and some businesses that had access blocked to their property. I don’t think we should ignore that aspect. F1 could have easily compensated the blocked businesses with their pocket change . I heard the gondola workers got laid off . Seems like such a big event could make accommodations for some of the regular hard working people they displace.
I still love that they did this here and considering everything involved in putting it together overall they did a great job. Proud of Vegas ! Actually looking forward to see how they streamline the process next year .

Yeah Stage Door (Hope I was correct on that name) was completely blocked. I heard about the gondola operators, but then someone said that attraction is usually closed in November anyway. Defiantly lessons to be learned from this year. @@ebeb516

Hey Popsie. To your last comment, like Singapore F1, the first year is just a dry run. It will definitely get better - more races, more events, less expensive and less disruptive to local citizens. Come back after a few years and do another comparison.

Honestly, F1 in Vegas isn't that bad. It's only impeded the flow of traffic, foot traffic, and the ability to see the Bellagio fountains, Mirage Volcano, Venician gondola water feature, and the view of the Sphere from the Wynn/Venician walkway. Chill, geeze. It's only been that way for 6 months of the year impacting hundreds of thousands of peoples vacations for just 3 nights of racing. C'mon guys, F1 is worth it.

Well I was just in Vegas the week before the race and oh my what a mess. It did put a damper on our site seeing and I was disappointed for my friend, who had not been to Vegas since she was 18. I thought, she really did not get to see the full Vegas experience because of all the construction/bleachers etc. I’m still watching and waiting for you and Greta to hit a BIG one. Enjoy the race❤

Right, first year logistical bugs… F1 and the powers that be will no doubt make changes for the better. The issues especially the ones surrounding the employees made mainstream news outlets so they cannot ignore that going forward.
As for construction, I have friends and family in vegas and I the entire county is a construction zone it seems… be it the 15, spaghetti bowl or now tropicana/15 it has always been that way. And it wont ever stop in the near future…

    • @Katie-yf8cy
      @Katie-yf8cy 9 місяців тому +5

Exactly! Plus, people are forgetting they will NOT have to build a new track every year. From now on, it will the 2 months to set up and take down the temporary structures.

Chris, nice of you to put this together so quickly. Looks like you captured the feel of F1 very nicely. I'm no longer much of a race fan, but this one was a lot more exciting to watch (ESPN) than events like Monaco. Someone here said it looked "snobby". Uhh...yeah. F1 is all about $$$, always has been. Hopefully those rich Europeans did some world class tipping. And you're right. They need a support race or two.
I'd never pay those prices, but if the Wynn offers you another comp next year, I'd volunteer to carry your bags!
