Wow, definitely a stressful moment. To find that “flaw” the day (or 2) before delivery day. Great fix on your part. Have a great trip. May God keep you safe always.
The cut off corners make it much better to get around the bed. I find that my mistakes sometimes end up being genius. 😁 great job! Now you’ll know what to do for the next one. 😊
I think the tiny house is amazingKen, and actually notching out the corners of that trundle bed I think improved the flow of traffic through the home. Life’s a learning curve and you navigate through it well!! I’m excited for the next project , the gypsy caravan!!
Hi Ken. My partner & i have had 3 Caravans & on the last one it had a fitted bedroom with the corners taken off for ease of use & we still found it to be so comfortable. She also found it easier to make th bed the next day. I like the way you adjust to the problems so well done with the tiny home & have a safe journey. Take care to you & Dan.
Great recovery. Its hard to plan for everything. You had a lot going on in that little house and its tight quarters to say the least. At least you have the peace of mind knowing you corrected that safety issue. I know I hate when I make a mistake as well. Its all good. Thanks Ken!
Nice recovery Ken. It was after all a pilot project and only became a deadline project after it got sold so quickly in the build process. Your next tiny house is going to be the beneficiary of all you (and us) learned during your build. Your final product does look wonderful. Thanks again for taking us along the journey.....
Awesome job. A lot of love went into that build. Love how you figured out what to do to fix everything and it looks great. Take some time and just get things organized for the next build. Are there any old train museums around you have not visited? Do something for you.
Hey Ken, you did a fantastic job with the Tiny House but it's tough to please a new home buyer, it's probably best that you built garages, just easy in and easy out. Hope you have a go at another Tiny home in the future but maybe a "bigger" one lol ! I'd hire you in a NY second you are the BEST !
Great job Ken. We had two twin beds pushed together with a king 6 inch thick mattress in our spare room. When my son and his wife moved, we put the twin beds on two walls. I used a bread knife to cut the foam and ordered two twin covers like you have there. I like the way you saw the problem, changed the design and did the work. I would have been frantic, LOL. Skills pays the bills.
At first I thought no do not cut the bed, but you proofed me wrong. It looks great and much better to be able to move about. Looks great. Drive safe🙏❤️
Ken, you must be good at filleting fish because that technique sure worked well on the mattress😁. Hope you place a sheet of cardboard under the bed supports during transport to prevent scratches. Potholes can be nasty. Hope you put the camera in the back so we can go along on the ride😁. Great job on the build!!
Tiny home is beautiful ken ,sometimes when a mishap occurs ,then end result turns out to be the best design ,or beautiful result I actually like the new look better on the Murphy bed
Good morning 🙏 KEN Guten Morgan. 🙏 YOU did an excellent job. Hope you kept the 2 mattress pieces. They could make 2 throw pillows. Be grand to see you and Dan together. Thank you JESUS ❤❤❤. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
New subscriber here, in north Texas. I wanted to say that the little house looks amazing and your trouble shooting skills and attitude are beyond incredible! I know what you did with the mattress was on a time schedule and you didn't have time to order anything and wait for it to be delivered, but next time you might want to look into the RV mattresses that are available online. You can order various sizes with the corners already notched out and bedding etc. So next time you build one like this, it's something to consider.
Definitely a 🤬moment. I have a full size bed, and I’m very comfortable. I had noticed some clearance and space issues in the Murphy bed, but my concern was just having adequate pathways for evacuation at night.
It is done now but I was always wondering about putting a queen size bed in a space that size at all. Seems a full size would be more appropriate. I think it would have been faster and easier just to shrink the frame down to that of a full size mattress. That way the owners could decide if they want an innerspring mattress some time in the future. I hope you and Dan had a good trip.
Nice save Ken. (I've always slept double in a "full" size bed. But a lot of military housing can be on the less roomy side, so a queen really congested the room and a king was really out of the question. I think the difference between a full and queen is only 6 inches, so you would still be out of clearance.)
I feel that part of the answer is making the kitchen sink into a bathroom sized sink, then maybe making the whole house a foot or two longer. Also, making that single bed into a pair of bunk beds to gain floor space.
Guessing the next build will have that larger kitchen sink being swapped for a corner style bathroom vanity. I guess the point here is why have a big sink for dishes and pots if there's no cooking facility? For outside cooking / cleaning maybe build a sink into one of the outside pull-out drawers?
Why the deadline rush? I always tried to have a extra day before I had to make a delivery to allow for problems that pop up. That way you have some time to fix them, and if there are no problems, then you can prepare your tools and truck, think thru the job and plan for any problems that may arise there. Its less stressful and gives you a breather. Good luck on your delivery and set up.
That heartbreak moment at 4:41 Knowing there is no easy way out Feeling like you have let down the client even though they are ok with it An actor would have had a tough time conveying this frustration as well you did here. Anyone who takes on difficult tasks that are outside of our normal wheelhouse knows this feeling, but if you dont push through , the world stops making progress
No Ken ! Don't Burn that Scrap Wood ! Save and use them for some other project !! At the price of lumber, that wood is too nice to burn in a Fire Pit!!
Well well well you just proved your human 😂 Thank God your one smart cookie 🍪 and fixed the problem. With the amount of space I would have had two single hide a beds 😂 Nice job!!
Well that bed will be fun to make with the corners cut off. A full size bed would have made your life easier. There was probably not a queen bed back when you grew up. Most of those mattresses come with a special knife in the box to open the plastic wrap.
Finally got to see this. Oops, major flaw in design? I like the sliding drawers you're going to build! Rats, only 11 inches between the wood stove and the corner of the Murphy bed. So sad. I never noticed this. So you're going to do this on each end of the Murphy bed. It makes sense that you'll be able to walk by the bed to the bathroom now. So sad this had to be done. I'm glad you got this figured out before you delivered it. I hope these adjustments go easily so you can deliver the tiny house on time. I like the fill-ins you made. I think a reading light in there would be a great idea. Nice job putting the polyurethane on the new wood. Nice mattress! I hope you made your delivery time okay. Thanks for this video Ken!
In caravans in the uk, we often find beds with an angle taken out of one end, to aid access, so your spot on. I'm not sure about both ends?. Nice job tho.
I'm speechless thought it was great when does it ever end in good old day couple asbestos Sheets and blankets and you would be fine what next a drowning waring on sink nice job Ken you are definitely a cool customer see you next time PS gussets would make cool hidden storage shelfs
you live and learn there no shame in that, wonder about the bed been little to big for the tiny house when you first built it but you corrected that. The new owner will be thrill when make it's to there place.👍
I think corners on the bed are an improvement. looks awesome. a long bread knife to cut foam mattress if u haven't an electric knife works well and cuts real clean. real cute build
With all the trails and errors; you're still the sharpest tool in the box... 😊 Kudos 👏
Hahahaha thanks
The major design flaw turned into an improvement to the tiny house. I admire your integrity to make things right.
Thanks
Nice !!👍 I think it is much better with the extra room to walk around the bed. The bed is still a good size.
I think so too!
I think it’s a very elegant fix , I think you definitely improved the flow around the bed substantially.
Thanks, I agree
The Tiny House has been an interesting journey. Thank you for taking us long. Have a safe trip with Dan.
Thank you! Will do!
Wow, definitely a stressful moment. To find that “flaw” the day (or 2) before delivery day. Great fix on your part. Have a great trip. May God keep you safe always.
Thanks I’m glad for the way it turned out
The cut off corners make it much better to get around the bed. I find that my mistakes sometimes end up being genius. 😁 great job!
Now you’ll know what to do for the next one. 😊
Thanks absolutely
I think the tiny house is amazingKen, and actually notching out the corners of that trundle bed I think improved the flow of traffic through the home. Life’s a learning curve and you navigate through it well!! I’m excited for the next project , the gypsy caravan!!
Thanks me too
A trundle bed is a bed that is stored under a bed. The bed in the tiny house is a Murphy bed and that type of bed folds up to the wall.
Hi Ken. My partner & i have had 3 Caravans & on the last one it had a fitted bedroom with the corners taken off for ease of use & we still found it to be so comfortable.
She also found it easier to make th bed the next day.

Great job! Your calm way even in the face of challenge is nice to watch.
Thank you very much!

It's not a flaw, it's an improvement!😁
Definitely
I think that is a little better. Looks good. God bless.
Thanks
That was a nice piece of jockeying around that bed problem. Well done, lookin good.
Thanks
Live and learn! Great job, Ken!
Thanks
Wonderful you were able to adjust the bed than have to start over from square one. It looks terrific. Have a safe trip.
Thanks
Nice recovery Ken. It was after all a pilot project and only became a deadline project after it got sold so quickly in the build process. Your next tiny house is going to be the beneficiary of all you (and us) learned during your build. Your final product does look wonderful. Thanks again for taking us along the journey.....
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching
What a shame on the bed, but you have to do what you have to do. Great recovery!! The show must go on!
Right. Thanks for watching
Great job adjusting to the last minute changes, Ken! Everything looks amazing!
Thanks so much!
Awesome job. A lot of love went into that build. Love how you figured out what to do to fix everything and it looks great.
Take some time and just get things organized for the next build. Are there any old train museums around you have not visited? Do something for you.

I feel better about the clearance space to the wood-burner furnace now, Ken.
Thanks me too
Nice save! I know it hurt when you realized you had to make mods at this late stage, but you powered through it like a champ!
Great build, Ken! 😁
Thanks
Nice work Ken. I bet it was scary cutting into that mattress. Looks good though and you now have a nice walk through to the bathroom.

Hope you get your knees done soon. I just had mine done yesterday
Wow I hope it went well. Behave yourself
For your next one, use a full , sized, bed! 48" and less work n wood on the bed base. Still sleeps 2 ...
Good catch on this one tho!
Thanks
You are a wood surgeon! Great job.
Hahahaha

The 2 triangle voids would be a nice place to put 2 of the round 6.5" Bluetooth speakers.
I think they might do that
As my friend's Dutch uncle says: It is not normal without complications. Great recovery.
Ha ha, very true
Ken would have made fold down bunks??☘️🇮🇪🔨🔨👏👏
Cool thanks
Those little bed triangles on the wall would make a good place to hide important stuff
