I like the trilogy but I disliked Mal. Not because of the relationship with Alina. I find found him super annoying. Also I wish The Darkling was more in the book.
Honestly, I wasn't sad when Mal died, the Darkling had always been my favorite character and it felt like he was neglected throughout the series, he was literally the main reason I cried at the end of the Ruin and Rising. XD
Mia Signorita yeah, the Darkling was like one of the best things about these books. I lived for any scenes with the Darkling in them lol. I didn’t like Mal too much. In the second book I liked him the least, but at some other times I just thought he was ok
I would definitely agree that The Darkling is the best character in the story. I really wish that Alina and The Darkling would have ended up together. I like Alina and Mal together, but I really want a character to end up with the villain just once.
i do love the darkling, but i really don't think he should have ended up with alina. he was abusive and manipulative, and although he has more layers to him than that, those traits are inexcusable in a romantic relationship imo!
I totally agree with you, and I think Mal is a healthier and better choice for Alina. But a part of me wonders what the storyline would have been like if Alina and The Darkling would have ended up together.
16512read omg! I know how you feel. You should read the shatter me series. It's a really great series (in my opinion). I'd say more, but I don't want to ruin the series for you if you're going to read it.
Thank you! After scouring BookTube for a Ruin and Rising review that isn't overwhelmed by people who hate Mal, I've finally found you! He was a great character and definitely the best for Alina - the only one who loved her for her. He definitely doesn't deserve all the hate. I loved this review and agreed with a lot you had to say about the Darkling and Nikolai e.c.t. Great Review!
I have yet to read The Grisha Troilogy but I am currently reading the Six of Crows Duology. I've been on the fence about it but Idk...maybe I'll give it a try. "Solid" seems good enough at the moment.
Apparently the Six of Crows duology is a companion series accompanying the Grisha trilogy, but idk if reading the trilogy before the duology is necessary... I was just wondering if it is necessary to read the Grisha trilogy before the Six of Crows duology?
Raffi T I wouldn't say you have to. The Six of Crows duology is a completely different story. Only benefit of reading the Grisha trilogy first was that I was familiar with the overall world better but that's it :)
Okay, glad I watched these reviews before watching the show/read the books. What I'm getting is that its good but the characters were neglected in favor of plot that suffered because the characters were too restrained. Especially the Darkling.
Hi Sophia so I've just begun my VCE high school year which is basically the Victorian equivalent of senior year and I'm gonna be bunked down with a lot of work and study. I know in your senior year you kind of wanted to put reading and booktube on a little backburner, but do you have any tips for trying to incorporate reading in between study? Thanks :)
I totally agree with you on that mix of feelings about it😌 but after reading it I keep thinking about Alina and Mal's relationship. I definitely liked some parts and I'm glad I understand the world so much better because Six of Crows is literally my life.

i wish the darkling was more present, too. he's my fav.

i only finished the grisha trilogy so that i could read six of crows tbh lol
Can you do a video on how to wire book reviews?
this is actually a great idea! i'll try to do this soon!
R&R saved this trilogy for me- I love Mal, I thought his development was almost perfect!
yay! i'm glad you love mal! he and alina really have grown a lot together over the course of the series.

i'll let you know once i read SoC!
Thanks!
Thanks for the response, I think I might read the both of them. What do you have to loose by reading more books? :)

I agree with the book (the whole series as well) was solid
i think it's a pretty accurate adjective for the series!
This trilogy should have been a standalone. Too long for nothing happening
I love this video but can you pleaseee make a video about ur 2016 favorites? thx!
i was going to, but i read so few books that i think it wouldn't be worthwhile!
Please upload more
Videos because I love them
i'll try!!! thanks so much!

maybe instead of going on the internet or watching TV during study breaks, you could read! also, you could read while you're eating meals!
+thebookbasement hahahaha lol thank you, dw, I only go on UA-cam to watch my most favourite of youtubers. Thank you for the response.
i just realized your stripe is darker brown! Just curious, did you dye your hair inspired by Anna from Anna and the French Kiss?
i've had a strip of my hair dyed since i was in 7th grade, before i read anna, although i do love the idea of being inspired by her!
This was a great trilogy
i'm glad you loved it!
always love your reviews!
thank you so much!
Hi
I haven't read the series but I enjoy watching your reviews. 😀 They sound interesting so I might give it a shot.
I just discovered you some weeks ago, and you'd become my crush
