Congratulations! It was especially fun hearing the excitement in your children’s voices! “ yes we are going to keep it, we’ll have meat for months…!” Love it!!!
The sheer joy of his kids voices while he fights the fish makes this catch even more memorable. What a great memory for them in the years ahead. Well deserved Dad👍
My wife and her father used to go to Alaska every year and bring home so much halibut and King salmon. It was incredible we would have halibut cheeks that were the size of a dinner plate. At the time I worked for a seafood company and my freezer was full of the halibut, salmon, King crab, lobsters and scallops. Today I look at the prices for that amazing seafood and it’s heartbreaking.
I bet y’all went home feelin pretty damn good that night! Lol Never seen anyone catch a halibut from shore that big. Did you guys use a drone or just cast out?
Beautiful Halibut but NOT a world record.... by a long shot. I've SEEN the wall mount of the world record sport caught Halibut. It is located in a museum in Dutch Harbor Alaska and it weighed 459 Lbs. caught in 1996 on rod n reel. This Halibut here looks to be about 130 to 150Lbs. I caught one VERY close in size to this one in the Straights of Juan De Fuca in Washington State around 2005 I think? It weighed 144 Lbs. and would have won the local Derby had I entered it.
Surf fishing halibut world record is 159lb this one came in at 150lb after draining and hanging for few hours, so possibly was a world record. Either way catching one of these big ones will be a record for us for a long time 😊
@@sergeynazarchuk246 I stand corrected.... the best part is that it was captured on film. I used to work on a Pollock fish processor in the Bering Sea and one of my jobs was sorting the different fish species from the pollock. occasionally we would get some " Barn Door " Halibut. I'm guessing the biggest I saw was around 200 Lbs. and unfortunately it was illegal to keep these already dead Halibut which usually suffocate in the packed nets, so they HAD to be thrown back for the crabs to enjoy although sometimes not ALL were dead. One of our competitor boats caught a 30 ft. squid in the late 1980's and around that same time we actually drug up a human body who was probably Japanese because he was wearing Japanese raingear.... and no head! He was stored up on deck until we got to port and was named " Gnarley Charlie " by the crew.
Hallies are not great white sharks and cant really turn and bite you very easy, you need to show your hand down it's throat to make that happen. It's much more likely to flap and break one or both your legs if it's a grown one. This juvenile hallie will just give you some pretty cute purple bruices....
Look up surf fishing record for halibut, this one came in at 150lb after draining and hanging for couple hours, that means it lost around 10lbs. By charts 69” is around 170lbs. So big chance it was a record for surf fishing. Yes we all know the world record is a bit under 500lbs but that from a boat😊
490 is FAR from a world record, it's the record for the PACIFIC hallies. However here in Norway the rod caught record is 540 and overall record is 695...@@sergeynazarchuk246
Next time, keep the fool kids back. I've seen many people bit by halibut, one lost a hand. Yes, seriously. They are a predator and have a wicked set of teeth. No where near world record though....maybe 85lbs ?....I've caught bigger and I've seen others catch them well over twice that size.
Congratulations! It was especially fun hearing the excitement in your children’s voices! “ yes we are going to keep it, we’ll have meat for months…!” Love it!!!

“ Yep son, about the best eating fish there is so we’re keeping it.”

Here's a father giving great memories to his kids. I hope they pass it onto their own kids when they're older.
That's cruel and unusual punishment.
There's a man that trusts his knots... Well done mate 👍
It’s just dead weight fishing from shore for halibut

From Russia with love ❤️! Good luck and funny fishing!!!
Люблю Америку, но Россию больше! Наши народы понимают друг друга! Только у вас во власти старые маразматики
Great for the freezer. There are a lot of steaks on that fish. Well done.

Amazing such a big catch. Congratulations brother
Great one right there. Hard to tell how big it was, but I’d say pushing 100LB.
69” long 150lb

144lb for Washington is a monster and very rear for that area.

That’s a crazy story
It’s pretty big for shore halibut
🎉👍
At least the seas haven't been emptied around there,. Yet.
How big is it?
It's BIGGGGGGGG
200 pounds ?
Истинное везение!
Those fish have killed people with a smack to the head. So yummy. great job bro.
Delicious !!!
👍👍👍
Sheer joy or just screaming banshee ?
He needed to cut the gills while its still alive to allow the fish to bleed out to make the meat better to eat .
Its a shame that that might be the biggest fish those kids ever see.😪
I wouldn't go petting that fish, Halibut have brutal teeth.

Трудно смотреть на то, как мучается это животное, а людям весело
Amazing catch, it's much more respectful to dispatch the fish immediately instead of letting it suffocate. But amazing work 🤙
