Guy is really good at detailing! Detailing a black car is the hardest to detail. People truly have no idea how hard it is unless they have done it for a profession. I use to detail when I was in my late teens to early 20’s. To detail a black car and remove those swirls in the clear coat takes a lot of practice and great skill. He’s good!!

Being a detailer myself, contaminants on the polishing pad come from the top surface of the paint. When Dave asked him about seeing paint on the pad, its not from contaminants. Single stage paint jobs (older cars) will show paint on the pads due to the paint and clear blended as one product when sprayed onto the vehicle. Only way to show paint on the pad of a newer vehicle is to burn completetly through the clear coat (top layer).

Certified Ferrari tech that only replaces rotors, That is the professional Dave.
Dave! The issue with the gummy feel on the plastic parts is fixed by cleaning them with Acetone. Alfa's have exactly the same problem. I drive a GT 3.2 V6 from 2005. It's a common fault with Italian parts of this era. The plastic coating used degrades. Use acetone with cotton buds to clean it off. Just be careful not to rub too hard or the paint will come off too! It does take time but cleans them up perfectly and is a very low-cost fix.
I Can't wait to see this thing straight piped and add the DDE touch! Loving the addition to the collection.

when there is colored residue on the polishing pad, it means the paint is a single stage paint meaning there's no clearcoat. Its an all-in one paint

Starting at 15:06 you can see all the imperfections and pollen still in the paint. You have to pause it quick at 15:06.

The detail shop did a really good job and made all the right moves bring the paint finish back to life. Black paint is hard to keep clear and looking elegant but it's worth it. My car is black and it's fun watching the car come back while washing it. Who ever receives this bitchin Farrari is very lucky.

The sticky stuff all over the plastic parts is the varnish that they apply for protection. But with time, sun, heat it decays and feels sticky. The best way to clean it off is by simply using a nail varnish remover on a cloth and wiping it all down. Sounds weird but it works.

I have seen Lexus IS 250 with the same interior problem the customer was actually complaining about it, Toyota Camry have the same issue with their dash and Toyota made it a recall but not all the year I think 2006 to 2009 we had a customer the dealer replaced the dash under recall, the dash looked like if someone had sprayed Armorall but uneven and too gummy some areas. I am an auto mechanic I work in a garage. I guess some manufacturer used a material that is turning unto a gummy residue, old GM had not that issue but their dash cracked all the time and many other brands too.
