    Just remember...the city is fluid...it will never be 100% complete...it will always be changing...the city is looking great...keep it up!! Maybe get a whiteboard and jot things down...erase as u complete objectives!

      I was going to say exactly the same. Nice big white board and section an area on the board for each area on the city. Then write down for each area what you need to do and leave an area where you can write down new ideas for each area. The only thing I don’t do personally is wipe off what you’ve achieved, I strike it through with a different colour marker, then you can see what you’ve achieved during that day/week. Then if you’re having a doubting day you take a look at the whiteboard and you can see everything you’ve achieved👍🏻👍🏻

    Hello, first of all congratulations the new city is looking great. I am a project manager and you are suffering of “scope creep”. My suggestion would be to work in versions. Finish version one of each of your areas and then work on improvements. Make a plan in writing for each area with a checklist for each one. Thanks for sharing this exciting project with us.

    I just realized something as well. It took years for you to grow and develop the Lego City to the extent that you had it before. So it is ok life it takes a long time to develop your new Lego City to the level that you want it to be. It is at least 2 times the size and you are doing a lot more details and elevation than before..

  • @LuckyDogg420Canada
    @LuckyDogg420Canada Місяць тому +15

    Start with the terrain, then do waterways and roads. Get the layout roughed in then go back to add buildings and features. Finish with the details. Don’t completely finish one area and then move to the next; the details and building will always evolve, but the terrain will remain the same for the most part

    Like I Said you have all this time and your going nuts, pace yourself slow down before you burn out. like I said you need to start with one thing at a time do your ocean first then your docks then train and work you way down the table because your going to make changes every time you build something and wanting it to go in the city. SO SLOW DOWN AND DO ONE THING AT A TIME.

  • @Cardogenic

    Seems like a repeating theme that a lot of the city overall depends on where the mountains are. Maybe getting the mountain range done would help move the other areas along.

    Do whatever you’re motivated to do each day, don’t force yourself to work on areas that you aren’t in the mood to work on. We don’t mind watching you bounce around projects, we’re just enjoying the journey.

    Building those raised platforms for the mountain will help you start some more projects. Raise up ninjago, build mountain behind zoo, waterfalls, reconfigure mountain covers, ext. it will definitely help finish other projects you’ve already started. City is fun to watch grow

  • @dinibo
    @dinibo Місяць тому +3

    Its not glamorous but the common theme I keep hearing is until you know where the mountain is going you can't do XYZ. I'd personally take the time to plot the location ans height of that and build the raised platforms. That will help you visualize what you need to do with everything else. Once you have that done buckle down and force yourself to finish the beach and the boat yard. Seeing something actually complete when you first look at the city will help give you a sense of accomplishment and motivation to get the rest done. One eats an elephant one bite at a time but it doesn't feel like much is getting done if you keep bouncing from one unfinished spot to another.

  • @markhollen8679

    I wouldn't start the mountain till you finish the canal since they're going to connect. How you connect them is probably going to be the trickiest part. Just saying... looking great!

    Hi Bricksie.
    So glad to hear that you and Jose enjoyed glamping.
    My list for tasks would be: the water in the harbour, the countryside, the zoo, then the residential area as a start. You have the pieces for those and they would lay a good foundation for the mountain, the inner core of the city etc.
    Make your list and stick to it and things will start to evolve.

    I love the suggestions below that talk about scope creep; it’s a spot on observation. Please give yourself grace to go at a slower pace. Those that talked about the years it took to perfect your last city are right-Rome wasn’t built in a day… and Bricksieville won’t be either so take your time, make a project plan, don’t rush, work methodically. I worry the stress over making fast progress might harm your health-seriously. We are all here to support you and will be here to watch your journey, please don’t worry about that. You have many fantastic ideas….put them on a list and prioritize making a first pass around the whole city, then make adjustments later. It seems the mountains are job #1 and wooden structure to support them. Then other pieces will fall into place. 😁👍👍
    Great video, glad you had a good time glamping!!

    First Dude, RELAX. Then make a plan on a Whiteboard, that way its easy to change on the go. I like your first thought of doing a "Rough" Base Layout of the complete area. Then I would work on making the wooden base for the Mountain area, as so many other areas will work around the Mountains, such a Ninjargo City, Zoo, Farm, Train Lines, Amusement Park and the Snow Fields. Keep Brickin.

    Roughing out the mountain will help further define the overall shape of the city. You can start shifting around things which will end up going up there (even if they need to move or shift height again later). And that in turn helps define where stuff will go lower down.

    I'm going to say one bad thing and that is, you shouldn't have built that ISLAND just to build your knights and castle you should have built more table space to the edge of the carpet and you could have then you could have built your island and put your knights in your country with your Ninjago and not worry about something else that's not getting done.

  • @OmiGAMING-NI
    @OmiGAMING-NI Місяць тому +2

    For the size of the city there isn't really much parking. That cul de sac location in the city could be a few parking spots. Also the dungeon by the residential area would work well for an elevated train station, if you're keeping the elevated line (which could arguably go up to the ski slope for example). Also if the canal water is being fed by the mountain then where the canal meets the ocean the waves don't really make sense as they're entering the canal (as seen at 18:21).
    You're giving yourself so much work. I think your best starting point would probably be adding the outline of the mountain, it'll be a starting point of what you can then put around it.

    looking at all you said the sea should be the first thing to complete then you need to design and build the mountain as everything else flows from it. Don't pull your country side sets apart just yet as they will help you to see how you could use them against the mountain, only when you have the layout for the country figured out take it apart and begin the rebuild. With different things going to be on the mountain you need space for them and also away the figures can get up to those levels on foot or transport. Once the mountain takes shape you will make better progress as you can see what your next step in the project will be.

    Getting the big picture roughed in might be the way to go. Then you have a basic level of how the whole city will look... and then you can pick a section to start finishing up, whether it's the train yard, the canal, the zoo, or the wilderness and mountain... on which note, I love the idea of the train track going through a mountain crevasse.

    • @jacksonstarky8288

    The water does take a while and cost a lot, but I'm agreeing it looks good in the end. Maybe you should have a table as a staging area? Where you just have a list of 4-6 projects you want to do next and you start gathering parts for them. Like a jumping-off point.

    I am loving how this is coming along. i feel it will look amazing once it is done. Reading some comments I'm in the same mindset, get the mountain started as it is a focus point in the city, it will help you roll into other ideas, and just getting the base design done will help. worse case you come back later and tweak/fully change it but it will still be super helpfull

    Your city is looking great! I found your channel about a year or 2 ago and love watching all of the updates, from the building and reviews, all of the way to your vlogs and life updates! You have a beautiful family! If you ever consider moving the harbor out of the city, you could maybe make like a deserted beach area, more for pirate style scenes, or move the campground there with some water front camp spots, or even just a park with beach access and maybe stage minifigs walking the beach and the boat launch ramp; that can then transfer to the train yard and country side. I feel the harbor makes it feel a little crowded in that corner, but still a great idea when trying to incorporate the cargo ships. Like you and others always say, your city is going to be fluid and will always be changing for the better. I would take it in sections so the whole picture doesn’t seem overwhelming. Great job with the water yesterday; the detail just brings it to another whole level!

    I would wait to disassemble the natural areas. It seems your idea of starting with raising Ninjago would be the place to start because the camping area and zoo depend on that. It is looking great!

    Hey Jordan. Following for some time, but first comment I believe. I jumped in full-time right as you started the studio switch. I found it fascinating to follow that process. Such a unique view that "average" people don't see unless we do something like it ourselves. Now just enjoying the progress of growing your city and studio. Just a couple suggestions thought I'd throw out. What about adding a small pier in the cove to the left of the beach? Maybe coming from the top down? Would fill in water a bit and create opportunity for your "stories' with fishing and all. Seems like cool idea, well to me anyway. Second idea, maybe consider customizing Studgate so it accommodates track at normal width. I've seen people do that. Would eliminate the flex track you don't like and provide better clearance within Studgate. Finally, no rush man. No need to "hurry" and get anything "completed". Nothing is ever complete with Lego anyway. I kind of like the process of at least getting the general layout of each section going even before "completing" any particular section. If you got that far then it would be cool seeing the layout in it's entirety and then watching the details fill in over time. But no rush. Just enjoy it and keep on going. No right or wrong though. Your layout. You do you.

    I think working on the rest of the water and the area between the beach and the zoo should be the focus right now. Itll pull the beach, boat yard, and downtown area closer together to completion as you have gradually done with the front section of the city. The mountains I would love to see you at least get the foundation done for this year. I cant imagine how long that would take to complete. Also working on the countryside should not be a priority at all this year. I do agree you should tear it apart but solely for parts. That whole left part of the city with the country side, winter village and even train yard I think you should make a 2025 plan. Thats a huge undertaking, much like you have been doing with the downtown area, beach, and boatyard that has taken over a month now and Im sure will take more months to complete. I think finalizing those areas by the end of the year will be a nice way to start 2025

    The idea being that people can use that mechanism to buy you base plate and you write their name on the underneath in a permanennt marker so we can all feel like we have a small place in the city.

      We would have preferred to see you and your wife playing cribbage in the cabin or walking in the woods. Lifestyle vlogs with the family are always great. Watching the twins playing is always fun.
      A table as big as yours should always have some empty space. We enjoy the journey and we would hope you do too. Finished is not something we would ever wish upon you because that means it’s over.

    As far as the train track in the countryside, a tunnel may look more natural than a cliff side between the countryside incline and mountain

  • @erinkensick8563
    @erinkensick8563 Місяць тому

    Definitely start planning the mountain first.
    Boat launch
    Finish water
    Blend in the lighthouse water
    Work on train yard /harbour area
    Once that’s all complete then move on to bigger projects like the countryside etc.
    Oh and hang the art 😂😂😂

    You should consider bettter lighting of the space. it’s so unnatural and cold right now. Maybe try warmer and softer (diffused) light. Try puting a key light at an angle or something. Right now nothing is casting shadows. i Would love to see some experimentation with the lighting.

    Logically, yes it it makes sense to build the base structure first, then add details, however, from an entrainment perspective, it’s so much more interesting seeing everything get detailed out as you go

    I completely understand that you have millions of projects you want to get working on for the lego city. But do you think you're gonna be able to get some work done on the winter village for this holiday season?

    Hey Bricksie! I just wanted to say that I’m a huge fan of your channel.
    I know it’s a lot of work, but have you thought of changing the color of the bike lane (maybe gray to match the road)? Now that you have more water in your Lego city; not to mention the canal that you recently added, the bike lanes around the city look like small roadside canals. Just a thought. Thank you 😊 Best of luck and more power to your channel!

    What about putting the hospital by the residential area and the train station? If you have it facing the road that goes over the train track you can have the pull through curve behind back to the road in front of the Simpson’s store

    Looks great! I think you could move the shipyard forward 1 baseplate & lose some water…looks like a lot of water and you might regret it later

    I think the kwik e mart should be moved out of the residential area. IRL it wouldnt be zoned for that right next to homes and it looks off and makes the green space look a lot more sparse. I think one or two more homes would look great there, and the kwik e mart should go across the train tracks

    A bit like what others have said, I think roughly mapping out the height/position of terrain, rivers and roads could be a helpful starting point. Because then you don't have to keep it all in you head, and once you've got an idea down, you've got something to work with and rearrange then. For instance, you might add a platform for the mountain and decide how much you want the train track to be recessed into the countryside section.

    Have you thought about moving the quickie Mart to where you have those 2 houses and move those 2 houses where the quickie mart is. Mini figs might not like have a quickie mart next to there home 😊

      Lol, it's 1000 baseplates... and probably 100k worth of LEGO... it doesn't happen overnight. Do you not recall my old LEGO city , which took 7 years to build? This layout is over 3x the size.

    Looks good but If you want a list... start with the Canal, then area around the residential and open spaces around downtown, then in front of zoo towards train yard, then raise Ninjago, then finish water detail, then front part of zoo, then Mountain behind zoo, then finish the zoo, then details on beach then train yard, then countryside start, then amusement park set up, then platform coverings redo, then more work on countryside, then lower mountains, then finish train tracks/yard, Details in downtown, then start on winter village, then more work on country side, more work on amusement park, start mid mountains, finish countryside, finish amusement park, details in trainyard, details in boatyard, details in zoo, By this time it is already end of 2025 😋 with lots to still do (not even counting the medieval island).

    No idea what is best, but if you finish the water at the harbour the first thing you see coming down will be done, which might feel good, and you bought the parts so should be easy to finish?

    I would finish the water/boat yard first. Fix the cove and add it to the lighthouse. Maybe add a small train station behind the beach. The train station can be used for the beach and the zoo. once that was done, I would start making the mountain.

    Dear Jordan, I can see the development and ideas you would like to do. It's time consuming and one moment you might be more in the mood to work on structures and be more creative in details on other days..
    I might be an option to choose a project for 2 / 3 days or may be a week that you work on a certain part..
    Or make Monday construction day and Friday detail day for instance..
    Whatever you do, it's okay. It's okay if it will take a while. Do whatever you feel like doing that day.
    Your energy, time and inspiration is different every day, that's life!
    Please don't feel rushed or insecure, all is well and I love to follow your journey along the way!
    Enjoy, you can build Lego everyday!
    Much love and respect for you and your family.
    Warm regards from the Netherlands.
    Karin

    Boardwalk idea, and I'm not sure if anyone else suggested it. However, boardwalks have light posts built into them for safety reasons. Maybe every 3 to 6 arches put in a light post.

    Yes, plan ahead. But maybe "multitask", you have 6 access holes in your city. Could they also be lakes? Amusement/Water park. Residential lake front property. Lake campground. A reservoir. Alot of options.

    I still say just put the mountains on the far edge of the city tables for an awesome background, and leave the back open that way you could put smaller builds in the mountains like caves or even a batcave that way the mountains don't take up more room than needed plus eventually when you get closer to filling up the table the mountains will be the first to go
