There's nothing wonderful or exceptional about that. They just show him looking elsewhere at 2:38 and quickly bring his eyes back. It's just normal directing and acting. Nothing special to note.

@@qy72hund Actually, it started at 2:34 and lasted until 2:45. Follow his eyes and the camera. The camera literally became his eyes as he's scanning the other people. While it may not have been exceptional, it was deliberate. It wasn't just "looking elsewhere", there was intention behind it that you clearly missed.
Best opening ever for a Mentalist episode. We all miss the Mentalist like nobody's business.
I think the pilot was even better.

Guy's completely wrong, anyway. Thor may be a Norse God, but the Green Lantern is basically an alien god with hypertechnology that can literally make anything, anywhere, anytime. Lightning's great, but it's not instantaneous large-scale matter creation; that's "fundamental building blocks of physics" stuff. Pretty handy to be able to screw with those.
Sorry, but it's just no contest. Pop Thor in an unbreakable green energy bottle and use him as a conversation piece. "Fight": over. GL can literally do it one-handed.

My friends you are both technically correct. It really depends which Green Lantern and which Thor we're talking about. Thor does get the edge against most of them however; he can easily break most constructs, I'd wager that Hal or Kyle would have the best shot against Thor.

@@michaelccozens In every medium we've seen Green Lantern, his constructs are always shown to be breakable by physical force. Thor's physical capabilities are outrageous--it was said that he can push a mountain with a single hand (not exactly this but something like this).
This is like the entirety of the show summed up into one clip: there's a murder with some suspects, Jane figures out who the murderer is in .2 seconds, someone gets sassy, Jane uses the sassy person (Mandy in this case) to solve the crime, Jane makes a mess, and Lisbon has to clean it all up. :)
And its fucking brilliant all the way through every episode. Its like the Doctor House of crime. Or the better Sherlock
So it essentially follows the template of all super geniua type shows then.

Mentalist was so good. Charismatic lead, not annoying side characters and a fairly linear main story arc(finding Red John) that didn't get ridiculous or obvious
And there was a hot redhead in the show.
Except no. Red John's identity was ridiculous in the end. They went "swerve" for sake of "swerve".

Actually he is quite different. Sherlock Holmes is a Master of things and Logic but quite bad with people.
Jane ist a Master of People and not that much in to systematics and empirical clues. He is kind of the opposite of Holmes, really

I go with you with the idea that ALL those characters are only a teeny bit smarter than average. If they truly were geniuses, most of the television watching world wouldn't be able to follow and the show would flop. Average people can't catch the fastest runners. Can not play music at a masters level. Can not think to follow the thoughts of the brilliant. (All developed talent.) Peace.
@@petiteexplication6249 It's not a ripoff, but it is a modern adaptation of the story. Hence the pun in his name - 'Holmes' (homes) and House (a home). And Holmes' side kick was Watson and House's is Wilson. They didn't really try to be subtle about it :-) Most modern 'genius, detective' type shows take inspiration from Sherlock Holmes, just as most modern fantasies borrow from Lord of the Rings. They were the first of their kind and so provide the path.

What is funny is the fact that most of the characters in the series who are criminals often underestimate Patrick Jane. In addition, there are times when he may "act" less intelligent in order to obtain information via body language or cues that may be useful to solve a case and it is priceless ! 👍👍
This scene right here made me watch all the 7 seasons and I don't regret even a single second of it. Even tho i did fail an exam because i was watching The Mentalist all night long, still don't regret it.

The Mentalist is definetly one of the most dynamic shows on TV.
This was such a great series. I watched every one. Someday I'll have to go back and watch them all over again

What I do not understand about this scene; in the next scene Jane is blamed for the damage and Neil's death. HOW??? He identified the killer! That was his job. It was the job of the police to contain him.

if he had called in the cops first and they would be on guard neil wouldnt have ran.
