No one seems to have mentioned it, but ... you overlooked the one essential Luckenbach album: ¡Viva Terlingua!, recorded by Jerry Jeff Walker with the Lost Gonzo Band in 1972, during the years when Hondo Crouch (qv) owned the town. JJ laid down a classic of Texas music that evening, including the theme for PBS's still-running 𝘈𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘴 show, "London Homesick Blues" ("I wanna go home with the armadillo ... ").
The Guy Clark tribute album is one that you ABSOLUTELY shoulda bought. Guy was an ultimate master of writing songs that grab you by the heart and won't let go. Any of the 13 albums he recorded is worth listening to (now think about that; only thirteen albums in 41 years), but his first (𝘖𝘭𝘥 𝘕𝘰. 1) from 1975 is just plain essential, I don't care who you are or what you normally listen to. The tribute album was recorded as a kind of 70th-birthday love letter to Guy from two generations of songwriters who were influenced, one way or another, by his immaculate songwriting.

The return album, Viva Luchenbach! is kinda cool, too. "Sportin' beer bellies, my dance card's sure been punched!" And a special reading from Peter Cedarstacker.

As a Native West Texan... Born & Bred.... I’m here to tell ya, there is NO WHERE in Texas that Waylon Jennings (or his songs) have EVER been hated. The man is Texas Legend, pretty much a Saint down there

The story about Waylon singing in Luckenbach and getting a beer bottle thrown at him had nothing to do with town's people not liking the song. He only played there once in 1997 a few years before he died as an invited guest of the town along with his best friend Willie Nelson for a 4h of July festival. Waylon was the king of the outlaw movement.

Say lady, I have gone to Luckenbach over the years since I was 17. The 1st time I went I hitch hiked from my home town Dallas. The best fun was the ride there from a couple celebrating their 25th anniversary. The wife acted like mom and ask me WTF I was doing hitch hiking. They said they give me a ride to Luckenbach. But they had plan to stop by a friends on the way. So I get to a huge dude ranch with a huge barn dance and ladies prancing around in short shorts. We had to go because when the couple left Luckenbach that night. They were going to Vegas. The last time I was there. I had a few too many of my margaritas hanging on the banks of Grape Creek with my dog and lady friend. Thanks for the video. BTW..the next time you're in L town. Rub the head of the statue of Hondo Crouch. Then walk across the wooden foot bridge that is behind the outdoor stages. Walk over to Grape Creek. You can thank me later... It looks like you don't get the time to read all 666 reactions. I understand and just letting ya know. www.hondosonmain.com/hondocrouch

The picture on the CD cover is of Guy Clark and his wife Susanna. They were married in 1972 until her death in 2012. Sadly, Guy Clark passed away in May 2016. In my humble opinion, Guy Clark wrote some of the greatest songs ever. He is considered a songwriters' songwriter. Listen to "The Cape" or "Magnolia Wind" to get a sense of his songwriting.

sub4ra it's not true. Waylon wasn't particularly found of it becaus he'd never been to Luckenbach and the song mentioned him by name plus it really wasn't his style.

Way before the Willie & Waylon song, Jerry Jeff Walker recorded the Viva Terlinqua album in the Luckenbach dancehall.. the album cover has good pictures of all the signs that used to be on the walls of the store & the cotten gin and the blacksmith shop. The crowds took all that stuff a long time ago.

I was so happy that UA-cam recommended this video to me. I was actually watching some of your older videos earlier. Luckenbach, Texas looks awesome! I've never been to Texas but if and when I do go, this cool town will definitely be on my list of places to visit.
I hate hearing that your Go Pro messed up on you. If ever you make it into the area again, could you please go back here and make a new video of it, it seems awesome!!!

Love to listen to your thoughts as you explore your surroundings.I've been enjoying your videos for a couple weeks now; as I'm not able to do that sort of thing these days as I'm still fighting the V.A. for medical benefits. I spent my life doing just what you are doing right now, Exploring America & Meeting People. Awesome, isn't it? Las Vegas was always one of my favorite places to run off too & Play. Much smaller place back in the 70's when I 1st rode my bike there from Wa. St. down Hy Way 395, and came back up via 101, (the Pacific Coast Hy Way, Ca. to Wa.) Nice Trip! Enjoy your Shrooms & B-Man in Sept. Been there 3 times, prob. won't go again as it's been hijacked by Money now days. Will continue to watch for your vlogs though. I get to escape through your adventures for now. Thank You. Happy Trails..........................the Wiz.
