Just stay 3 to 4 hours a day (or as many hours) on the roof of your house (or in a well-lit balcony) and you will be amazed how satisfying your sleep becomes. Though morning sunlight is regarded as more important for insomniacs, I think that may not be adequate. I am not exactly talking about sunbathed barefoot walking here exposing as much skin of your body as possible to morning sunlight (well, one may do that too for better results), but I believe insomnia requires much more and extensive exposure of broad light into eyes rather than on skin, and that for as many hours of the day as possible and that is the most important deal. Some tips 1. Take your laptop, mobile or book at the roof ( or a well-lit balcony or veranda) and do your work there. Looking directly or indirectly into broad daylight is the main treatment for insomnia and depression and the longer your eyes get exposure to broad daylight, the better it is in terms of insomnia, depression, anger, fear, disappointment and all other negative emotions. If you fear being sunburnt at the roof, do you work there in early morning or in the evening hours when the UVB radiations out of the sun are virtually zero. Also, you can take a piece of cloth and wrap it around your face but the basic point is actually getting photons of broad daylight for a very long time into your eyes. 2. You can also have your breakfast or lunch there. 3. In your room or office, open up all the windows (or as many of them as possible) and pull up all the curtains, move your table or chair and position your laptop mobile or book in such a way that your eyes get the maximum daylight. While your eyes are working at the screen of the laptop, they are also indirectly or peripherally getting the photons of daylight. 4. From the balcony or window of your room look out to portions of the buildings, streets, trees, and people that are brightly lighted by the sun. Gaze at those areas for a long time. 5. You can also look into the sky in the morning or in the evening or at the portion of the sky that is not uncomfortable to look at. When the sun has set, look at the red sky if it is not uncomfortable. But there are additional two important things in respect of insomnia, which are also crucially vital. Have your dinner at 7 p.m. and go to bed at about10 to 11 pm. There should be a gap of atleast of 2.30 to 3 hours (or more for better results) between your dinner and bedtime. When there is a short gap between your food and sleep, there is a fight in the body about where to invest more energy, ie, whether on the process of digestion ( which takes an enormous amount of energy) or on sleeping, This causes both the things to hamper. If you fear that you will wake up being hungry in the middle of the night due to such a time gap between dinner and bed, it is because you eat every 3 to 4 hours. Practice fasting or intermittent fasting for a few months and when your body is adequately accustomed to not eating for hours in this way, your hunger pang at midnight will go away. Our body is like a time based mobile charger which recharges best if you go to bed at 10-11 pm. My point is- there is an enormous difference between the quality of the two periods of sleep, viz, one initiated at 10 pm and the other started at 1 am. Our body heals and repairs at certain hours of its circadian clock. Still dissatisfied? You can additionally take potassium citrate supplement and nutritional yeast for a month or two.
