His tune quickly changed after working with them for a while. "Mr. President, I'm Winston Zeddemore, I've only worked with these guys for a few weeks but I can tell you this is real. I have seen things that would make you turn white."
One of my biggest gripes with that 2016 trailer. PICK A LANE. It was a reboot but tried to lean on the first film…but without technically knowing the lore. 3 scientists…winston was US. The everyman. Maybe an oversight but just kept reminding me that the respect for the source material was lacking.
I don't know what you guys are complaining about with Ghostbusters 2016. That movie scared the hell out of me! I had nightmares about Annette Leslie Jones for weeks 😱😭
It's not just that, they force some actors into pop ip's becasue Hollywood for some reason or another NEEDS to keep them famous even though no one really likes them.
‘Original ghostbusters all were scientists and really into it’ Winston in Ghostbusters 1: “If there’s a steady pay check in it, I’ll believe anything you want.” They literally did hand a proton pack to guy that walked in off the street looking for a job. So them giving a proton pack to Egon’s daughter isn’t that crazy a thought.
"Borrowing from the "Stranger Things" aesthetic"... Oh, you mean how stranger Things borrowed it's ENTIRE aesthetic from 80's nostalgia, including Ghostbusters?
@@justinfloyd1096 Winston was a layman and Venkman was a psychologist that hit on students. Fucking Louis was a ghostbuster for a while. People like to complain.
@@justinfloyd1096only if you have someone who has a physics and engineering background to maintain the equipment and knoweldge of the supernatural. 1st 2 was Egon and Ray and to some extent Peter, with this movie itll be Ray and Peter, yes Pheobe learned some stuff in afterlife with Egons ghost
I don't mind the kids being mentored by the OG Ghostbusters. The guys are getting seriously old, they have to train the next generation. And after the events with Gozer I think the kids have earned the right to be there. And Egon's daughter and grand daughter have lineage, I mean c'mon! No way anybody can complain about either of them picking up a proton pack. Her dad was their head honcho!
He was saying the proton packs are obviously way too heavy for a couple of 75lbs skinny adolescents to carry. It doesn't make any sense unless they ditch the original design which they did not.
You have to remember that this is a guy who hates women in movies and really has no idea what happenend in the original. He is playing to his incel followers.
I don't know if complaining about the mom as a ghostbuster because she's not a scientist is a valid complaint, Jeremy. Ernie Hudson's character was an unemployed person with no particular expertise -- in fact, as you may recall, his character responded to Janine's questions about believing in a number of supernatural things by saying if there was a salary to it, he'd believe anything they wanted him to.
your watching a video by this moron. I forgot how much of a piece of crap he is when I clicked on this. I mean all he does is whine about agenda then insert agenda laden comments that are unnecessary while constantly contradicting himself.
Hudson's character was supposed to be Eddie Murphy - Hudson was always just the stand in. I wish they could bring the entire cast back as original.. but they have to "Scooby Doo" this sh*t as Dr Strange said.
Now hang on just a damn minute, you are so fucking wrong. Watching a dying star implode on itself is far more enjoyable and satisfying than anything those three have done or indeed will do.
This is a video about Patton Oswalt right? I traveled to a different STATE to see the last Ghostbusters movie but I won't pay a dine to see anything with Patton Oswalt in it. And no, I'm not a republican, I just don't hate America.
Don't let Oswald have that kind of power over you. There are plenty of other people in this movie, not to mention the crew and production staff, who do deserve our support. If the movie is good, of course, and not a "woke" POS.
Callie Spengler is a psychologist... that fits right in with Peter Venkmen being a parapsychologist. Egon was some sort of physicist and Ray was an engineer. I am ok with her stepping up as a Ghostbuster Patton Oswalt can take a long walk off a short pier.
Truth. Let's cut Callie some slack for now. She's not just 'The Mom"...she's Egon Spengler's daughter, fer cryin' out loud.. I reserve judgement until I see how the plot plays out.
totally agreed with this. think it fits the bill well. only thing i didn't like about the trailer was patton oswalt since he's such a piece of shit irl
Don’t agree with this take. This movie is not made for kids just because there are kids in it. If that is the case, then the horror movie “IT” was made specifically for kids since the main protagonists are a group of kids (it wasn’t). This movie looks like it’s gonna be a boatload of fun, and I can’t wait.

That Frozen Empire villain is giving me shades of The REAL Ghostbusters cartoon. This seems like the kind of villain that would have been on there. And thats a VERY good thing.

Well done??? What? It's a fucking copy of the original, complete cash grab. I wish they made a sequel to the video game, Ghostbusters 4, which would have them literally go to hell, and jump dimensions
Totally the same, saw the og at the cinema the week it released in the U.K. Really enjoyed Afterlife, mostly for all the Easter eggs in the movie. And Jason R wasn’t going to crap all over his Dads work. It was respectful to what came before.
08:16. She's Egon's daughter, plus it would make sense that the mom would be keeping an eye on her child and Egon's grand daughter, since the daughter almost destroyed the last town they were in trying to catch a ghost (in time-honored Ghostbuster tradition! :P ). Remember, Egon was INCREDIBLY proud of his daughter and her achievements, to the point of having a wall with pictures of her on it. Also, the mom was broke in the previous movie, so she would probably have to get a job OR it might simply be them coming for a visit to the OG Ghostbuster HQ, and get caught into the events of the trailer. It's summer, so that probably means the kids are visiting the city, and the mom and the teacher is along to keep an eye on the kids - the scientist already had an interest in the Ghostbusters, the girl wanted to know more about her Grandfather, the boy is probably doing it for his podcast and the mom knows what trouble her daughter can get in (after she complained about her never getting into any in the previous movie). Plus, they are probably trying to give it a romance angle like Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver had, while also giving a "gender equality" angle to it as well (1 adult male, 1 adult female, 1 kid male, 1 female kid), which I have to admit, ACTUALLY works well if done organically, like in the trailer. One thing I'm looking at in the trailer, is the fact that the ghost containment unit might ACTUALLY get damaged, but will that lead to a shutdown failure like we saw in Ghostbusters 2, and what would that mean - DECADES of ghosts dumped on the streets? That might mean we might possibly get to see ghosts from the Animated Series? ;) But more important... will it be a Xmas movie? XD
just gonna throw this out there...do you remember how hard it was for the MEN to control the proton guns? find me some women operating jack hammers and i'll give the soccer mom and school girls a pass on their 80+lb proton packs & guns
Yes and she hated her father and wanted nothing to do with the GB world, and now she’s all in, it’s over the top, same with the kids wearing the packs when the original GBers struggled to wear them under the weight. Should have been the main original GBers doing there thing, with the kids secondary if things started getting out of control, imagine calling the GBers for a ghost in ur house and three kids walk in, ud close the door and say I’ll take care of it myself
@@TrumpsAssassinator Why not? He is funny. Granted his voice is more suited for animation. He is a true fan which is usually the type of actors fans usually want in these movies rather than phonies
I don't see a problem with the mom being a Ghostbuster now. First, she's supposed to be Egon Spengler's **daughter**, & she'd apparently made some strides in working out her issues with her dad. It kind of seems like it's how Dana Barrett, despite not being a Ghostbuster, was a central figure in both the original and the sequel back in the 1980s.
They should do a horror movie and the ending is just the GBs showing up and busting it. COuld be a cinematic universe! Conjuring? Busted. Insidious? Busted. Ring girl? Busted.
I don't really agree. Of course they should not go full Horror. However, a Horror movie that doesn't take itself seriously would still work as a GB movie.
7:55 I’m not surprised the mom became a ghostbuster, she clearly had nothing going for her in Afterlife and was dead broke. I’m sure it was more of a financial decision with her like Winston.
I watched My Best friends Exorcism on Amazon and I thought it was pretty good (although presenting the physical monster always deflates scare). It is set in the 80's so there is no woke. I liked the new Wednesday on Netflix and it was pretty good, the lesbian parents made sense as their kid was the biggest outcast and that sounds realistic. The Expanse also is very good and I don't remember any woke in it. Resident Alien on Scifi is good too.
How woke can it be? 1. It's already got 3 TOTALLY ACCEPTED female Ghostbusters 2. It's already better than Answer The Call 3. Patton is on lots of GREAT stuff. He can't ruin everything, and he's not the boss. Dan Aykyroid is.
I wonder if they will feature "Oscar" as a 30 something year old man in this movie. It would make sense if he becomes a Ghostbuster, considering his mother stayed with Peter and was close with the other GB's.
Remember back in the 80's when a kids movie like say... Ghostbusters... starred adults? It's kind of EXTREMELY STUPID now that in order to target/appeal to kids, you have to star... kids. It's like Hollywood got dumber and started think that only movies that star kids can appeal to them, forgetting anything that came before it. But thats exactly Hollywood. The same Hollywood that forgot that there were women headlining movie stars before 2016... My only issue with this is, Patton Oswald, and the clear continued casting by checklist. No knock on any of the actors/actresses. This is all about the studio's and their dumb priorities that favor skin color and gender over talent/charisma. Again, some may be talented and charismatic... but that is not why they were cast. That is plainly obvious with everything in Hollywood. And that detracts from the experience and suspension of disbelief a LOT.
Ghostbusters was not a kids movie. Kids movies starred kids. Spielberg movies all felt the same with the kids on bicycles. ET, Goonies, Monster Squad, Ruskies, you name it. Kids' movies have always starred kids. Just stop whining.
Personally, I'm excited for this. Not all of the original members were scientists though. Winston was a guy that applied for the job and they had to explain the science to him.
That and Rick Moranis too. I’m excited for the new movie. They have to look to the future if they want to keep it going. I’m okay with new casting while they give us who grew up with OG Ghostbusters a bit of nostalgia. I don’t want old old. I want new with a touch of old.
Yeah this asshat is a bog standard right wing toxic dudebro. Winston Z. Was not a scientist. Venkman was a psychologist. All the hard science was done by Ray and Egon. And the “just a mother” here is Egon’s daughter who literally pulled the trigger on the traps that caught Gozer…and the kid, Phoebe, clearly inherited her grandfathers scientific genius. Oh and Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd) is a geologist. So what more do you want? They inherit the family business and work with Winston bankrolling the team and Ray and Venkman consulting.
Louis Tully was a wimpy 5ft 5in lawyer and he was able to use a Proton Pack and Winston was just a guy off the street, so I don't have a problem with the mom or kids using them.
EVERYONE can be a Jedi, EVERYONE gets the force , EVERYONE gets a Proton pack ,i really miss the formula that used too work and made films great, '' Restraint ''
“Everyone gets a proton pack.” Nothing new considering that as far as Winston got one as soon as he was hired. Louis Tully got one. The Rookie got one. Janine got to wear one a few times. Even Slimer had one. After all, the proton packs are just the tools and everybody got the talent. It’s Miller time.
It's so bizarre as Patton Oswalds wife wrote Ghostbusters 2016, then she "ended" under absolutely no suspicious circumstances and it wasn't at all suspicious that Patton Oswald started dating his new GF the next week and then married her within that same year! ... there's definitely nothing suspicious about that, and it's definitely not obvious what actually happened and Patton got away with "ending" his wife! There is nothing suspicious about it and we should all stop pretending that it was very suspicious! Ya I'm hoping for a small role but also interested to see why he's there looks like he might be working the book store or something that could help the team beat the big bad
Yeah, the whole "I'm boycotting the movie because of Patton Oswalt" thing is bizarre for me. I'm not an Oswalt fan, per se, but have nothing against him. Thought he was pretty funny in Aluminum Foil with Weird Al. But this hate on him just seems like it's hating just to hate.
I’m fine with the mom being a ghostbuster as long as they handle it well. It’s kinda like she’s continuing her father’s work like her daughter is. But still, as long as it’s written well. But Paton Oswald makes me worried. The self proclaimed “voice of the nerds” doesn’t represent most of us and just makes things worse in my experience
I think it'll be good. The last one was pretty alright for a tent poll movie. But this one looks fresh like the great 90's cartoon. They respected the OG cast which was really all i cared about after watching Luke get obliterated. But Ghostbusters isn't supposed to be scary. Its a comedy, so im not mad they have comedians in it.
These days, the purpose of making a movie is to make a few quick million, cover the expenses, and move on (so yes, it’s a business). The difference these days is that the producers/directors really don’t care how bad the end product is, so long as it makes that few million and then moves to video (quickly). There are those rare diamonds movie wise, but they’re becoming much fewer in number as time passes, and it gets tougher to get people to go see them.
This film was produced by Jason Reitman, son of the director of the first two, he loves this material which is why he has become very protective of it… he has real respect for the source material, I mean he set up a production company called Ghost Corp just to make Ghostbusters specific media
8:44 and 9:11 I want to know when Chuckling, Giggling or Laughing became "Funny." That Burt guy, who just got a whole movie about his dumb made-up story, became famous based solely on his ability to laugh at his own jokes. It's so much easier for lazy Hollywood to just que an imbecile laughing at his own joke than to actually write something worth laughing at. Where are the old Jewish people in the writing rooms lol what it's not diverse enough? Good! Because apparently only Jewish people know how to write a good joke 😅
Didn't Winston just get hired in the original Ghostbusters movie? What's so unbelievable that the daughter of Egon is able to do the same? Its like you just wanna hate for no reason
I think Jeremy and a lot of content creators have been fighting against bad "progression" (race swapping, tokenism with bad written characters) that any sort of "diverse", "progressive" or non cliché casting choice is instantly seen as a bad thing, regardless of the actual merit or skill of the actor and the role they play.
@ch4z_bucks That's crazy. It's almost racist for them to just shut down anything that doesn't resemble anything white lol Like I completely understand when it's race or even gender swapping without any thought put into it, but including characters other then white is fine
I had no idea Patton Oswald's wife died. I wouldn't say he murdered her like that commenter, but him letting her be on the cocktail of prescription medication did contribute to her death at the very least. Him remarrying in only a year and a half later is a little sus though.
Some people just can't stand being alone. It happens quite a bit with 60+ people who lose their spouse. Usually it ends up with their kids being pissed for a few years before they accept that it's not really that unusual.
The mom becoming a Ghostbusters makes absolute sence. She went through all the shit in the last movie. You either runway from it, or stand and fight. Now it's a family business. And for the diversity thing.... they are in NYC....it's a diverse place. The kids are younger they will have diverse friends. As long as it's not diversity for the sake of diversity, it really doesn't matter. As lkng as the old men get in on the action too. (And nothing else of D.E.I. gets released) I'm more than likely going to go see this.
Heck diversity for the sake of diversity isn't really a bad thing so long as the diversity is written with high quality. I don't care that there's an Asian character or a black woman, just make them well written characters and it's all good, same as any other character.
It’s their family using the proton packs with instructions. This isn’t the force pretty much anyone can pick up and use a proton pack. The hard part was creating them and keep them stapled together.
It’s worth pointing out that in the originals, Winston was literally hired just to put on a proton pack and zap ghosts. He earned a phd later, but only well after the events of the first two movies. So the idea that you have to be a scientist to be a ghostbuster doesn’t hold up. Narratively, it makes a lot of sense for Egon’s daughter to take up “the family business” as a form of atonement for the years of resentment towards her father. Not saying it’ll be portrayed that way, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was.
Afterlife was surprisingly great, I'm hoping part 2 is great too and have no reason to think otherwise. "Mom's" Dad was a Egon Spengler, it checks out...
3:19 I don't know about everybody else, but I didn't need or particularly want to see snotty nosed little kids trying to role play as adults in movies when I was a little kid.
More than anything else, there are two takeaways from the trailer: 1. NYC does NOT look like that anymore. It's like they're doing a modern cosplay as '80s NYC. Honestly, that was kind of a bummer. 2. Every cartoon '80s and '90s kids grew up with started to suck when some consultant insisted on putting "relatable young characters" in the mix. It was true then and it's true now. As a KID I found the kids annoying. I can't imagine modern kids are any different. I liked these young actors in the first movie, but it make sense that they were there. I'm struggling to think of a good explanation for why they're carried into this one. Might be fine, but I'll be waiting until the reviews come in to even bother thinking of seeing this one. We can complain about the new cast and all that, but let's be real.. Who in modern Hollywood could be cast in this as "the next generation" and not be met by a shrug or cringe at the ton of baggage they're carrying?
I agree. One of the reasons why I didn't like Afterlife was the kids. Even as a kid I (also) hated seeing kids in TV shows. Was really annoyed with the Junior Ghostbusters. Luckily, they only appeared twice.
my thoughts too, that was the ny city that is in a movie studio in california, i live in nj and ive been to ny many times and there is no beach like that there.......the warriors beach was authentic
Speaking as an adult GB fan, I am very excited about this movie. The concept from the beginning with Afterlife was the establishment of a Ghostbuster Corps, based around the characters in the last movie. The showrunners made no bones about it. The casting, and characters in this foray should not be a surprise on any level. Why couldn't the Mother be a Ghostbuster? If Tully could be a GB in the second movie. I can agree with the Oswald thing.
Think you were a little bit too critical about certain things here. Venkman was barely a scientist and Winston wasn't one at all. Being excited about weird scary ghost stuff was a big Ray trait and a mild Egon trait as well.
I think/hope you're wrong. I'm far older than you and am cautiously looking forward to the movie. McKenna Grace is a very good actor and is excellent as science geek granddaughter. Rudd's character I thought was a science teacher and fanboy of the OG crew. Don't forget, Venkman isn't really a scientist and Winston certainly isn't. So I'm okay with the new crew not being all science geeks as they have Akroyd's Ray Stanz to fill in gaps. Is it an automatic home run? No. But let's not forget who is behind the movie. And yeah, I'm purposefully ignoring Oswalt.
Afterlife was a good tribute to the original and to Harold Ramis. It didn't need to be continued, It was great where they left it. Hollywood needs to start being original again and quit re-booting or milking old movies that did amazing. I'm glad they did Afterlife because 2016 left a horrible after-taste and they simply could not have let the legacy of the original die with that monstrosity.
I think Jeremy's inner fandom is getting in the way. You wanted Aykroyd to have more energy ...? Dude, he's like 70 or something ...its over ..they are just the supporting cast. It's about the kids now. I'm hoping its good. oh yeah, then there's that beauty Patton Oswalt ..speaking of kids, right? lmao . anyway , the opening scene in the trailer was great ! Might be a decent movie.
I think for people who are nostalgic it's very easy to loose ourselves in search of that feeling we got seeing movies of our childhood for the first time, even when we go back to those movies we still feel that spark of happiness in that time and place, we really want these characters that we grew up with to live forever, and I think for some it's hard to imagine to move forward without these characters..
This is one movie that is not going to get an automatic pass. I liked the last movie. It was its own thing and didn’t race and gender swap the previously established characters.
@@MOE-db8oc I know, dude. I'm still remaining cautious. The *_Ghostbusters_* brand is still rather damaged from 2016, so Sony needs to build back trust. My dad says it takes about a thousand "attaboys" to over come just one "aw shit."
@@McFrozenNuggets I don’t disagree. Hollyweird has me quite gun shy over any movie release at this point. Waaaay more disappointing releases pushing some damn message than not. It so far has great eye candy for effects. Peg me as cautiously optimistic for this one.
I think you're wrong here. They are all characters from the previous film and it makes since that they are the ones to take up the job. Unless you want a rehash of Indiana jones where all the old guys are slowly chugging along with low energy. Patton Oswald is a problem, but it seems he has a minor role. He should be the new Walter Peck.
@@Ladywizard as long as it's a minor part, it should be fine. Depends on how much influence he hard on the writing. I mean Ron Jeremy is in the first one. Not every actor can be a winner.

My son saw afterlife and now he is 5 and loves Ghostbusters with the kids. But sometimes he wants to see the original part one. I love that he knows the original actors and he sees them in the afterlife movie... I enjoyed watching it with my kids. I got two kids excited for the movie.
For me that looks... Pretty good. I mean, would I prefer a horror version, yeah... But this seems like a pretty logical sequence to the previous movie and the previous movie worked. I don't dislike the mom joining in, it is a family and friends fighting ghosts movie...
It bothers me so much when people say GB is stealing the aesthetic from Stranger Things. No, it’s the other way around!! The creators of stranger things cite GB as one of their influences.
The first minute was the worst part. I thought they Rick Roll’d Michael Bay’s Spider-Man into the beginning. wtf was that?! A Elsa/Spiderman crossover?? BTW, no ghosts. We all lose. Watch a good ghost move like Ghostbusters 2! Vigo!
Yeah….I’m in. Couple of casting choices I’m not keen on, but the tone and look is great. Really amazed to see Bill there, I’d assumed Dan and Ernie would make it, but Murray’s presence seals the deal for me.
I don't really have a problem with the mom joining in. A: She was unemployed, last we saw her, B: She was directly involved with the paranormal in the previous movie, and C: She's Egon's daughter and, after decades of thinking her father abandoned her no reason, she is probably reconnecting with him through Ghostbusting... and that's assuming she didn't just throw on the gear toward the climax of the movie, out of necessity. As problems go, this is a non-issue for me, as I feel there are bigger fish to fry. I don't even have a problem with her children being around, though Wolfhard barely had a thing to do in Afterlife, especially with his sister being good at pretty much everything; still, she IS cute as a button, with her Egon-esque hair and all, as long as they keep any potential cringiness under control. I do question why Lucky and Podcast are there. Granted, Podcast might be on summer break from school (unaccompanied by family... in NYC?), but doesn't Lucky have a job? It feels like they're just being shoehorned into the situation because they were in the first movie. The real reason they're here is to tick some of those checkboxes all movies have to fill, now, and to add some meager child audience appeal; I found them sort of boring and one-note in Afterlife, but I'm not a child. I'd have preferred the requisite diversity to be provided by some adult cast members, but that would have required new characters and... well, better the devil you know, I guess.
There's multiple people who have used the gear untrained and just for the pay check. The Kid in the Ghostbusters Video game which is the official real Ghostbusters 3 by Dan and Harold themselves! and the kid character to our knowledge was like Winston a normal guy needing a job. In this seeing the mom and the kids use the gear I have no major problems mainly because the last movie took place in a rural middle of nowhere town so it fit the story and here they have guiding people watching over them. My only complaint is I want to see Nathan Fillion play the Kid in live action to interact with Paul Rudd as the new younger team of adult leaders especially since Bill Murray referenced still running the office in NY in the last one. Also want to add I'm pretty certain Venkman wasn't a scientist he was a psychologist who was a semi fraud interested in telepathic studies. Even saying in GB2 "I am a Fraud" for his psychic show continuing the point that he has never been real which is why he enjoys the ghostbusters job it's anything but real life.
For a guy who says in the beginning that he doesn't want to "dump" on this too much and then ends up "dumping" the entire last 1:30 of the trailer then just don't watch it. Let everyone else enjoy it, nothing is gonna be like the original ever! That's true but let's bring some new ideas and creativity into it. It's still got the core concepts of the originals but with a brand new twist and a whole previous movie to set it all up. I think they did an amazing job so far and this is only the trailer. So excited for the actual movie!! On that note, just let people enjoy it, there comes a time where I think people over analyze movies and sometimes you gotta just watch them and enjoy them. But that's just me
"anyone that have a proton pack is now a ghostbusters?" that has always been the case, isnt it? i mean Winston isnt a scientist and he is a ghostbusters, Tully isnt a scientist and he is a ghostbusters, Jannie isnt a scientist and she is a ghostbusters... in extreme ghostbusters, the team was nothing but collage kids that happen to attend Egon's class for easy credit... also the mom? she is Egon's daughter... if anything, she have the most right to be a ghostbusters, continuing Egon's legacy...
Yep, that's how it is. But that really only seems to apply to the fans who grew up with the movies AND the cartoons, not so much with those who just like the movie.
You're forgetting Winston? He wasn't a scientist, he was just a dude with a proton pack. So the mom isn't a lore breaking choice, but I'm sure its a "check box" choice. It shouldn't be a be deal though.

They literally did hand a proton pack to guy that walked in off the street looking for a job.

I don't know if complaining about the mom as a ghostbuster because she's not a scientist is a valid complaint, Jeremy. Ernie Hudson's character was an unemployed person with no particular expertise -- in fact, as you may recall, his character responded to Janine's questions about believing in a number of supernatural things by saying if there was a salary to it, he'd believe anything they wanted him to.
Well said sir.

Hudson's character was supposed to be Eddie Murphy - Hudson was always just the stand in. I wish they could bring the entire cast back as original.. but they have to "Scooby Doo" this sh*t as Dr Strange said.

That might mean we might possibly get to see ghosts from the Animated Series? ;)

Ooo! A good storyline could be that parts of Vigo stayed with him during that short time in the museum - and they have to exercise him, somehow.

It's almost racist for them to just shut down anything that doesn't resemble anything white lol
Like I completely understand when it's race or even gender swapping without any thought put into it, but including characters other then white is fine
He apparently thinks the government killed her.
Who is your favorite Ghostbuster?
It’s worth pointing out that in the originals, Winston was literally hired just to put on a proton pack and zap ghosts. He earned a phd later, but only well after the events of the first two movies. So the idea that you have to be a scientist to be a ghostbuster doesn’t hold up.
Narratively, it makes a lot of sense for Egon’s daughter to take up “the family business” as a form of atonement for the years of resentment towards her father. Not saying it’ll be portrayed that way, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was.
The big issue with the movie is that they are going to make it all about the climate change lie.
Don't forget egons granddaughter will be LGBT. lol

I actually liked the trailer, will wait for the next one to see where this goes
More than anything else, there are two takeaways from the trailer:

Speaking as an adult GB fan, I am very excited about this movie. The concept from the beginning with Afterlife was the establishment of a Ghostbuster Corps, based around the characters in the last movie. The showrunners made no bones about it. The casting, and characters in this foray should not be a surprise on any level. Why couldn't the Mother be a Ghostbuster? If Tully could be a GB in the second movie. I can agree with the Oswald thing.
With enough AI tools we could probably do a rerelease of the film where Patton is cut out of it. 😂
Wisdom does not come with age.
After 2016 b.s., let Reitman do a trilogy ... what a dumpster fire that was.
I really didn't like Egon's daughter in the previous movie.
But maybe, she might have a chance at being a good Ghostbuster.
She will have plenty of womensplaning and they will make paul rudd dumb so she can bash him don't worry.
Fin Wolfhard 20 yrs old
Mckenna Grace 17 yrs old
Celeste O'Connor 24 yrs old
Logan Kim 16 yrs old
I think Jeremy's inner fandom is getting in the way.
In the firearms community, we refer to guys like this as "fudds."
I have faith in Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman. They done did good with *_Afterlife_* so I'm definitely on board for *_Frozen Empire_* next spring.
I just wish the name didn't remind me of "Fallen Kingdom" blech.
@@erikhermansen3431 I thought *_Fallen Kingdom_* was alright.

I don’t disagree.
Ironic since William Atherton is reported to be in it.
unfortunatly I think Patton Oswald is Ray's "apprentice"/book clerk so will be the researcher
@@Ladywizard as long as it's a minor part, it should be fine. Depends on how much influence he hard on the writing. I mean Ron Jeremy is in the first one. Not every actor can be a winner.
@@AshkihyenaWalter Peck isn't going to be running in a Proton pack catching ghosts. He's going to be serving cesit and desist papers. Not the same thing, so how is that ironic.
If it doesn't get woke and is good otherwise, even Oswald won't sink this.
My son saw afterlife and now he is 5 and loves Ghostbusters with the kids. But sometimes he wants to see the original part one. I love that he knows the original actors and he sees them in the afterlife movie... I enjoyed watching it with my kids. I got two kids excited for the movie.
the mom being a ghostbuster is probably her way of having a connection with Egon that she never had growing up.
For me that looks... Pretty good. I mean, would I prefer a horror version, yeah... But this seems like a pretty logical sequence to the previous movie and the previous movie worked. I don't dislike the mom joining in, it is a family and friends fighting ghosts movie...
Ghostbusters is getting the Indiana Jones treatment
We can agree to disagree. I just think so far Jeremy is being a bit over the top. Let's see another preview and go from there.
@@RGMerkel I assume the worst for anything new coming out these days. If something happens to be good its a lovely surprise.
Same here. I'll go bite as well. As long as they don't lecture me that all white men are stupid, I should be okay.
Yhh if Bill's in it, the other 2 are pretty much guaranteed to be in it too, he's always the hardest one to get for a film out of the 3.
Patton oswalt and David cross returned to ATHF for the new episodes. Everything Patton touches turns to woke nonsense.
That’s actually a good question, what the hell is this kid doing here
@@trashy2309 it's summer, he's visiting his only friend in NY
But that's just me
"anyone that have a proton pack is now a ghostbusters?"
that has always been the case, isnt it? i mean Winston isnt a scientist and he is a ghostbusters, Tully isnt a scientist and he is a ghostbusters, Jannie isnt a scientist and she is a ghostbusters... in extreme ghostbusters, the team was nothing but collage kids that happen to attend Egon's class for easy credit...
also the mom? she is Egon's daughter... if anything, she have the most right to be a ghostbusters, continuing Egon's legacy...
I was thinking the same about Winston
Winston deserves to be seen more prominently. Dude wasn’t even included in the original promo and only showed up for the final battles in both films
To be honest it looks good. I like seeing Bill Murray and most of the original cast. I'm mid 40's and loved the original and none since the second.
I really don't like Patty Oswalt
The movie that really didn't need to be made...
